I was outside a house party smoking a joint in my car. Before I know it, 3 or 4 cop cars are behind me with the lights flashing. It was the most ridiculous, embarrasing moment of my life. They said that a neighbor had called and complained about the party, and they smelled weed in my car.

Well they might have actually seen you smoking which would be more evidence than propable cause. They can frisk you/ your car without any reasonable suspicion which would be just looking around in your car and or smelling your car.

They didn't see me smoking. They told me to get out of the car, and the cop flashed her flashlight in the car looking around. She said it smelled like weed, and she said she was going to search the car. There wasn't much I could do but be cooperative at that point.

Well there's a difference between searching and frisking, and different guidelines for each as well. What they did was probably frisking.

I had to go to court, and basically nothing came from it. My record was clean except for that one incident, so the judge just made me take this class once a week for 6 weeks. Wasn't too bad. There were some freaks in there tho.

Well, I've never been arrested, but I have had plenty of trouble with the cops.
