Fairly alright. My Aunt just rang, and said that I can live in their old house with my cousin for a few weeks before they put it on the market. Then hopefully that'll give my cousin to set himself up somewhere and I'll just move in with her and my Uncle at their new house for the rest of the semester. The only downside is both houses only have dialup, so I'll have to look into getting (cheap) broadband or rely on accessing the net only when I'm at Uni. :-/
Slow internet flusters me. At least you got the housing situation straightened out.

Riva 03-01-2008 09:30 PM

It's more the fact that after having broadband for 5 years or so, going back to dial-up to browse regularly is going to be a pain. But at least if I buy a laptop this semester, I can dump all my lectures and other large files onto the HDD at Uni.

I am going to miss the luxury of chatting on MSN and browsing the forums wearing just a pair of boxers, since I don't think that'll fly at the Uni library.

EDIT: And three of my good friends live in a 4 bedroom house, so I might look into moving there and paying my share of the rent if their other tenant moves out. I only have 4 months or so of undergraduate study left, but then I do my Honours and I'll probably need to be based in Townsville still.

Reviews say the book finds him avoiding the subject of Kraftwerk to discuss his love history and bodily fluids. :upset:

Sounds like a must have.

pate 03-01-2008 09:32 PM

I'm sure they'd make an exception for a strapping young lad such as yourself.

You'd think so, wouldn't you.

As a funny aside, Munich has no public nudity laws, so you're free to go anywhere naked, as long as it doesn't violate OHS protocol. :p The only downside is that almost all German nudists are the kind of people you don't wanna see naked.

Riva 03-01-2008 09:39 PM

I dunno, man. In my town we revoked a "topless in public" law since all the young, good-looking and fit backpackers took off their tops anyway to lie on the main beach.

Jaundice 03-01-2008 09:40 PM

I don't get into topless chicks.

Riva 03-01-2008 09:41 PM

Probably because they find you creepy.

Jaundice 03-01-2008 09:41 PM

If they do, it's mutual.

You're not supposed to get into that part.

I support tit sex, though.

Well, it's not like the male population of my town is lining the beachfront with binoculars in own hand and a bottle of moisturiser in the other.

Jaundice 03-01-2008 09:46 PM

Too much sand, heat, and fat people reading James Patterson on beaches.

Riva 03-01-2008 09:48 PM

In other news, I am taking umbrage with the news post about Tim "The Ripper" Owens joining Yngwie Malmsteen simply because it doesn't refer to Tim "The Ripper" Owens as Tim "The Ripper" Owens, but simply Tim Owens. What sacrilege is this?

Jaundice 03-01-2008 09:49 PM

Rings a bell. Was in Judas Priest?

gmoneyguy 03-01-2008 09:49 PM

I thought he was 'the rapist'

No, that was their drummer Dave Holland, who ironically was the drummer on albums such as Point of Entry and Ram It Down. Oh, and Screaming For Vengeance.
Rings a bell. Was in Judas Priest?
Yes, and Iced Earth most recently.

oh ok, I knew it was one of them.

Jaundice 03-01-2008 09:53 PM

Is the irony in the fact that a man referred to as The Rapist would play on albums called Ram It Down and Point of Entry?

*shudders* That was harsh.

Riva 03-01-2008 09:55 PM

He was never referred to as The Rapist until he stood trial a few years back for statutory and attempted rape.

Jaundice 03-01-2008 09:56 PM

I still find the unintentional wordplay ironic.

That's not 'ironic'

That's quite simply 'congruous'

Jaundice 03-01-2008 09:59 PM

I'm youuuur turbboooo loooverr!

I like when people pronounce it Pyoolitzer.
Pronounce has "pronoun" in it.

pulseczar 03-01-2008 09:59 PM

congruous is quite a powerful word i haven't heard lately

Yes, but there's no irony at all

Irony requires some kind of contradiction

Playing on the albums Ram It Down and Point of Entry and later rape convictions are quite frankly in accord, as is Rob Halford's homosexuality

Riva 03-01-2008 10:03 PM

Google.com says it was 2004.

Nostalgia 03-01-2008 10:04 PM

It's getting to be too late to not ponder random, trivial subjects philosophically.

No, irony isn't quite as straight-laced as that.

The irony is that he played on albums with such suggestive titles, only to be found out to be acting in a similar manner to those titles later on. If he had been called "The Rapist" all along, it would have been fitting or "congruous" as you called it.

gmoneyguy 03-01-2008 10:06 PM

It kind of is.

Jason: For some reason I though it was last year.

pulseczar 03-01-2008 10:06 PM

it's too late to trivialize

it's toooo laaaaaaaaaaate

@ other post, How is that ironic?

Jaundice 03-01-2008 10:07 PM

I thought the irony was that it was on those particular recording when the rapist played.
