Well I'm a little bit lost too. I know that during last year's download Lars was ill so he didn't play. Instead Dave Lombardo, Joey Jordison, and some others played with Kirk, James, and Rob. Maybe they want Lars to get sick again this year?

Kirk isn't just about pentatonics. If you try to learn the solos to ktulu and creeping death, you'll notice some pretty sweet 3 string sweeps.

He is also a very big fan of the aeolian mode or natural minor and also likes the phrygian mode. (which are almost identical except for the flat 2nd)
I really dig his soloing. It is actually where I base my solos and I just add my own cool sh*t to it.

Besides pentatonics sound very awesome if done right. (Ie. Ozzy Osbournes miracle man) I think that kirk is just being pressured too much to come up with something that his creativity is being suppressed.
I also think that after being sidelined in St. Anger he will come back with a vengence in the new album. Maybe he'll bust out with some 6 string, 2 octave sweeps or do like 12 fret intervals or something. The guys got talent but he doesn't show all of it. I wonder what he sounded like when he was in Exodus?

Here in California, there's SUPPOSED to be good bands but in my town it's all about punk and hardcore. (it's alright to me but I love metal so meh.)

Metallica need to come back home to California and do a show in LA. (which is their REAL hometown.)

You say that yet 2 of the most awesome festivals are planned over my exams; Download and Monsters of Rock. Next year I will have AS exams at the same time and the year after A level exams.

LOL. Yeah well California is California and that's where the best thrash is from right? I had to poke at the fact that while they call SF home, LA is where they are from and they need to make a trip back to their mecca every once in a while. :p

Yeah that's true how they treated him like sh*t for no reason. He really was a good guy that got the sh*t end of everything, but the band needed more of a scapegoat than a bassist. I think that most people complained that they could hear Jason in AJFA and I think that was a part of him being an outcast at the time. To any musician, it's a real insult when you turn his volume down to where you cannot hear him anymore.
