why does it seem to me that so many bands are getting on the progressive black metal bandwagon? does it seem to me that everyone wants to sound like agalloch or opeth.

Nepenthe 12-12-2010 08:40 PM

u want black noise?

P13 12-12-2010 08:57 PM

I don't know

I don't get why I enjoy noise but not black metal.

I know I don't like the classic black metal like Immortal, Darkthrone, etc.

try gnaw their tongues - L'Arrivee De La Terne Mort Triomphante

Nepenthe 12-12-2010 09:13 PM

listen to nahvalr. it's basically a big noise experiment with black metal buried deep down inside of it.

the story of the album is really cool too, nahvalr isn't so much a band as it is just a bunch of people from all over the country who collaborated on the album. they would just post the song up and whoever of the group of people wanted to add to it added to it.

yeah I downloaded that after hearing it was from the guys from Have a Nice Life, and that it was open source (lol)

I'll have to give it another listen

Nepenthe 12-12-2010 09:19 PM

other than that you might try trinacria. they're like as close to a noise rock/black metal hybrid as i can think of.

i only have their album travel now journey infinitely and it's very good. might be what you're looking for.

I downloaded that after you mentioned it in the recommendations thread. It's pretty cool. At some points it kind of reminds me of Cobalt.

DBlitz 12-13-2010 05:53 AM

^ might check that out

anyone into Blood of Kingu? listened to De Occulta Philosophia like twice now, good stuff. is their new one worth checking out?

Morumbar 12-13-2010 05:58 AM

I've only heard the new one and I like it a lot. At times too much atmospheric non-metal parts for my taste, though.

I'll listen go listen to De Occulta Philosophia, you check out Sun in the House of the Scorpion. :p

DBlitz 12-13-2010 06:06 AM

will do

edit- listening now, already sounds pretty different to De Occulta Philosophia

brenoritvrezorkre

rasputin 12-13-2010 10:33 AM

both blood of kingu releases are pretty cool but neither are particularly special. the first one held my attention a bit longer than the second though

Meatplow 12-13-2010 10:36 AM

just had a nice moment with the title track from Brobdingnagian's TortureStainedDisaster

brilliant stuff

Anglachel 12-13-2010 01:22 PM

man darkthrones mid era stuff is so forgettable theres only one mediafire link in google for plaguewielder

Aakon_Keetreh 12-13-2010 06:57 PM
man darkthrones mid era stuff is so forgettable theres only one mediafire link in google for plaguewielder
plaguewielder is the best out of all the shitty mid era releases

Meatplow 12-13-2010 08:45 PM

hopefully that is because people are learning to stop using mediafire because it randomly corrupts files sometimes

Anglachel 12-13-2010 08:51 PM

none of those mid era albums are shitty theyre just easily overshadowed by everything else darkthrone has done

and what should be used instead of mediafire

Aakon_Keetreh 12-13-2010 08:57 PM

i love mediafire but sometimes files do get corrupt, megaupload is good tho

Anglachel 12-13-2010 08:59 PM

megaupload has limits on download though and that 45 seconds is irritating

when i download albums i go on fucking binges then stop for a few weeks while i listen to what i downloaded so fuck megaupload lol

Aakon_Keetreh 12-13-2010 11:41 PM
