not at all, it's the study of legends and urban narratives and basically understanding how they evolve as narratives and legends and how they vary between cultures and stuff.

I imagine I'll have to answer questions regarding cultural aspects (how a myth changes when told in Utah verses Toronto) and re-tell basic stories.

you are correct, I like arguing with you because you are actually bright.
I care enough to post things I'm almost sure are facts, but ultimately searching for links to validate them is too much work for something so frivolous. The bottom line is, my quasi-facts are still better than the nothing some other people post. I'm not attempting to lie on the internet and completely make these things up.
