Destroy All Girls 02-08-2011 03:57 AM

what is surrealist noise

Bitchfork 02-08-2011 10:09 PM

noise that allows you to picture yourself flying down staircases and winding through doors that have rooms that constantly morph and change while you leave directions it's like acid

some people said it was like a 6 min musical vers. of Eraserhead.

Destroy All Girls 02-08-2011 10:10 PM

so kind of like Shipwrecker's Diary, huh?

Bitchfork 02-08-2011 10:37 PM

nepenthe had this to say "listened to the album with 3 tracks. first 2 were really good, gave me a noir-ish vibe for some reason that was really unexpected,"

DBlitz 02-09-2011 05:02 AM

new tim hecker is very good

APirate 02-09-2011 01:13 PM

Powerman 5000 has a really unique sound, its like nu metal with liberal amounts of funk and even some industrial

Bitchfork 02-09-2011 05:40 PM

The Doo-Dooettes - Free Rock
is so good.

Destroy All Girls 02-09-2011 07:46 PM
Powerman 5000 has a really unique sound, its like nu metal with liberal amounts of funk and even some industrial
sounds vaguely like Korn

APirate 02-09-2011 07:57 PM

it doesn't have that same dark, low end

it's like a RHCP with cheesy hip hop influence, but Tonight The Stars Revolt has a weird space rock thing going

speaking of Korn I just read fieldy's book, what a douchebag

Nepenthe 02-09-2011 08:06 PM

this dude's mom kicked me out of her house once bc i blacked out and started making fun of her bc she liked powerman 5000

APirate 02-09-2011 08:09 PM

well not everyone listens to shit dark ambient all the time

Nepenthe 02-09-2011 08:12 PM

APirate 02-09-2011 08:14 PM

Destroy All Girls 02-09-2011 09:59 PM

what is fieldy's book all about

Bitchfork 02-09-2011 10:12 PM

my friend's reading it

APirate 02-09-2011 10:31 PM

first 200 pages are about his life destroying addiction to marijuana and last 70 pages are him apologizing to every one hes hurt by smoking weed and begging them to find jesus like him and Head

i mean it was interesting and all but fuck, i know 14 year olds that use harder than hes claiming to have done

Bitchfork 02-09-2011 10:36 PM

"i know 14 year olds that use harder than hes claiming to have done"
c:
yeah i mean what is this world coming to

Destroy All Girls 02-10-2011 06:59 AM

idk you've only had 14 years to be acquainted with it right

didn't know Fieldy turned to jebus too

Destroy All Girls 02-10-2011 07:02 AM
Repetitive and vague, this memoir from former Korn bassist Fieldy is a slog only fans could love. For 200 pages, addiction dominates the narrative of Fieldy's rock and roll career, which revolves numbingly around the same two points: "I didn't realize what a jerk I was" and "I didn't want to talk... I just wanted to drink and get high." That might explain why he can't seem to remember much from the band's early days, painted in broad strokes: "It was a rough tour but we still managed to do whatever was necessary to get through"; "Somehow, between all of the tours and being on the road, I had gotten my first wife pregnant." Fieldy fares better when he reaches the recovery and faith stage, confessing that "I don't want my children to go through the depths of hell to discover there's a better way." Fieldy's redemption seems sincere (though readers may wonder if his apologetic letters to former friends weren't written for the book), but his tale is strictly for those impressed by details like "I knew DJ Lethal from his days of being in House of Pain, though he would later join Limp Bizkit."
idk why this is the product description on amazon.com
didn't know Fieldy turned to jebus too
yeah I saw it on a clearance rack at barnes and noble for 6 dollars and bought it thinking it was Head's book until I started reading it

its 270 pages and the last 70 pages are literally almost nothing but bible passages and ramblings about i don't preach but jesus is the only way you'll be happy

FatalEnergy 02-10-2011 01:27 PM

Why the fuck would you even read that crap?

and why is nu-metal talk in this thread?

APirate 02-10-2011 04:39 PM

i like nu-metal, to answer both questions

Nepenthe 02-10-2011 04:47 PM

i feel like you just mitch-like nu metal

and i know you know what i mean

APirate 02-10-2011 05:03 PM

i mean i don't wear slipknot shirts or anything but i do listen to nu-metal everyday

i'll admit part of it's nostalgia but i think its good music
