^ it was to demonstrate a Homorhythmic pattern to put things in context

gaslight 01-26-2009 12:27 AM

You know what's really amazing is that could either be lyrics to an emo song or the tracklist to an emo album.

Aaron 01-26-2009 12:28 AM

Thank you, thank you. I think I might add it as spoken word into a catfight song.

gaslight 01-26-2009 12:33 AM

Surely it'll need to be backmasked, played slowed down by a factor of 10, and recited by a choir of homeless men from the bus stop.

You'd get an arts council grant from that kind of thing.

Aaron 01-26-2009 12:36 AM

Haha.

"It's not music, it's performance art cause I perform it when it's being recorded." Derrr.

gaslight 01-26-2009 12:38 AM

Haha is that a real quote from someone?

Seriously let's do a real CFHD album release this year.

Meatplow 01-26-2009 12:39 AM

song rules, remember when I was obsessed with these guys haha

i haven't really listened to 'em much recently guess I just got bored with them.

gaslight 01-26-2009 12:41 AM

Nick Cave is truly excellent.

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 01-26-2009 12:52 AM

woo played a gig today hungover.

it's not fun when you play in a shed.

gaslight 01-26-2009 12:57 AM

Tell us all about it, how was the gig?

I know what you mean about the shed thing. Man I spent a few summers in high school doing band practise in a corrugated steel garage. Brutality.

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 01-26-2009 01:07 AM

played it at the pub, got free lunch and free drinks (cans of coke and stuff)

played 3 hours, played a bunch of hard rock stuff. and an hour acoustic set.

we got asked to come back in a couple of weeks.

gaslight 01-26-2009 01:11 AM

Awesome, I wish venues always threw in a free meal and drinks. Best free stuff I've gotten from a venue is free tap beer.

Meatplow 01-26-2009 01:13 AM

Horseman reminded how good Dr. Dre 2001 wass

gaslight 01-26-2009 01:15 AM

Yeah? I didn't get in to that as much as The Chronic.

Meatplow 01-26-2009 01:20 AM

i never actually listened to the chronic, i should

horseypie 01-26-2009 01:20 AM

2001 kills the chronic

gaslight 01-26-2009 01:22 AM

I've gotta disagree, The Chronic rips it in my opinion. They've got a very different sound on purpose though so it's not quite a head-to-head battle.

RunAmokRampant 01-26-2009 01:28 AM

so yeah Dropkick Murphys on Wed night. Should be good.

horseypie 01-26-2009 01:28 AM

i think because in like junior high we all loved half the songs off 2001 it makes me like it more

the chronic was kinda like dre and snoop present the chronic

gaslight 01-26-2009 01:31 AM

I've always been meaning to get a copy of Donuts by J Dilla.

Meatplow 01-26-2009 01:50 AM

that is a fantastic album ^

i'm digging instrumental hip-hop a lot atm, Blue Sky Black Death's Late Night Cinema is cool

gaslight 01-26-2009 01:53 AM

Paso Bionic's Empty Beats For Lonely Rappers is a cool one if you want some instrumental Aussie hip hop.

RunAmokRampant 01-26-2009 01:54 AM

ya Blue Sky Black Death is fantastic.

Metaform's 'Standing on the Shoulders of Giants' and 'PSY/OPsogist's 'Suffused in Static' and 'Soul Touch' ep are also worthy 2008 instru-hip hop releases too.

gaslight 01-26-2009 02:08 AM

I'd love to try my hand at some instrumental hip hop but I've got no sampling equipment and stuff made completely in Reason and similar programs tends to sound pretty lame.

We're getting gunned down in this cricket.

That's the DJ from Curse Ov Dialect, they do some bizarre stuff.

get a keyboard and some decent VST plugins

gaslight 01-26-2009 03:44 AM

Yeah, he does stuff with TZU as well.

gaslight 01-26-2009 03:45 AM
get a keyboard and some decent VST plugins
That's not true sampling though.

Not to say they aren't good, I've used some amazing sounds through keyboards in the labs at uni, but it just isn't what I mean.

And yeah, we've been made to look completely second-rate at cricket on Australia Day =(.

In conclusion, giant lol at the Target Denim ad that uses a completely blatant and utterly poor sounding rip off of Seven Nation Army.

Meatplow 01-26-2009 04:01 AM

i have a mate who has a laptop with ableton live on it, hundreds of VST plugins and a decent keyboard you can control mixing through with various knobs and levers, he adds samples and what have you from every conceivable source and used it just like a DJ deck. hearing some of the **** he has done has blown my mind

gaslight 01-26-2009 04:04 AM

Nice that would be lots of fun.

I wish I had the money for even one tenth of the stuff I'd like to have.

Meatplow 01-26-2009 04:11 AM

yeah he pretty much runs DJ sets out of his bedroom and invites people around to pop pills all the time lol

i get sick of doof-doof after a while

gaslight 01-26-2009 04:14 AM

Haha I have mates like that. Good set up if you're selling the pills too.

I get sick of doof doof about five seconds before I start hearing it.

I think this Fender '62 Jazz Bass is dead sexy but I don't want to spend $4G on an instrument.
Hey I just got a mad idea for Chu to work on.

It's a browser add-on right. You highlight something, like a name or whatever, and right click. It adds to your right-click menu an option called "Wiki it" and it instantly opens a new window in which it searches wikipedia for the thing you specify.
http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/smart-keywords.html

Has improved my efficiency by 50%. Sorry chu :(
I played Super Double Dragon with him online the other night we beat up people together it's a positive first step.
Good times, good times.

Meatplow 01-26-2009 04:47 AM

badtaste 01-26-2009 04:57 AM

Gave that a test run last night though, didn't seem too fun...

gaslight 01-26-2009 05:04 AM

Almost at 9000 Roger.

Meatplow 01-26-2009 05:05 AM

well whatever floats your ever sinking boat

gaslight 01-26-2009 05:07 AM

Haha. Brutal.

badtaste 01-26-2009 05:12 AM
Almost at 9000 Roger.
Almost...
well whatever floats your ever sinking boat
Gravy boat tbh.

gaslight 01-26-2009 05:13 AM

Gravy as a wax apple.
