Hi can I get some bands like The Notwist or Minotaur Shock? Nice indie electronic stuff.

A separate request: A really good industrial metal album that isn't Godflesh or Fear Factory (or Rammstein or Suicide Commando)
get Skinny Puppy - The Process (its one of my fav. industrial releases!)

Stoic 05-08-2007 01:46 PM

Not asking for a recommendation but for a track identification:

silly video but in the middle starts a very disctinctive piece which was fairly popular a while back and had a cool video clip with blue anime characters. Can you tell me who the artist is? Thanks :)

repcak 05-08-2007 02:24 PM

Bartender 05-08-2007 04:31 PM

If you like the videos for Aerodynamic and One More Time and so on, you should see the full film.

Stoic 05-08-2007 04:39 PM

Is it an anime the band made or they just used parts of an independent anime to make video clips?

Bartender 05-08-2007 04:45 PM

Made by the band, along with a Japanese film company, after the album was already done (though the album was written with storylined video in mind). It's called Interstella 5555.

Stoic 05-08-2007 05:05 PM

Awesome! I think I would like it since it reminds me of various 80s sci fi anime I used to watch as kid. :) Thanks Bartie!

Stoic 05-10-2007 02:22 PM

Alright, I need another song identification :D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgOOgvrHwmY
Stupid old greek commercial, ignore. I need the song in the intro!

italic zero 05-10-2007 02:37 PM

you don't know nights in white satin?

Stoic 05-10-2007 02:43 PM

So this is Nights In White Satin by The Moody Blues. No I'm afraid I'm not familiar with it at all and I bet it's not the only classic track I have no idea about. This is because I rarely watched TV or listened to the radio as kid, plus such music doesn't get much airplay in Greece :)

Kage 05-10-2007 02:46 PM

I would like some trippy, relaxing songs. I want them to be musically rich, with watery/airy effects or feeling, generally slowish, and with minimal/non-intrusivve/no drums.

Anything like these songs:
Down - Jail
Moby - My Weakness
Julee Cruise - Falling (the Twin Peaks theme)
Juno Reactor - Angels And Men
Season - Throw Me To The Sky (stream: http://www.last.fm/music/Season )

thanks in credit

kalkal50 05-12-2007 10:53 AM

For those who like very extreme Trash/Death Metal, "Terrorust" is a very good band, but they're extremely hard to find over the net if you're looking to download. I recommend it though.

That's not how this thread works. It's to ask for suggestions, not make random ones.

Have you tried Earth?

Earth - Land Of Some Other Order
Earth - The Dire And Ever Circling Wolves
Earth - An Inquest Concerning Teeth

blueyxd 05-12-2007 06:11 PM

no, but I'm looking for some stuff now
thanks

italic zero 05-12-2007 06:15 PM

i think you want Boards of Canada

blueyxd 05-12-2007 07:02 PM

Which ones?
I have the song from Salad Fingers, but that's it.

italic zero 05-12-2007 08:39 PM

all of Music Has the Right to Children

actually, most of their stuff has more prominent percussion than i remembered, so try these songs

One Very Important Thought
Open The Light
Olson
Kaini Industries

you also might try some of the less minimalist ambient music

Apocalyptic Raids 05-12-2007 10:27 PM
I would like some trippy, relaxing songs. I want them to be musically rich, with watery/airy effects or feeling, generally slowish, and with minimal/non-intrusivve/no drums.
Air would be good, though it's not that trippy.

and I second Boards of Canada. Music Has The Right To Children is a fantastic album.

encmetalhead 05-17-2007 03:29 PM

I would like some good metalcore in vein of Heaven Shall Burn, Killswitch Engage, and Unearth

Tyler 05-17-2007 03:31 PM
I would like some good metalcore in vein of Heaven Shall Burn, Killswitch Engage, and Unearth
All That Remains

Heaven Shall Burn and KSE aren't good though.

Kaleid 07-02-2007 01:19 PM

Anyone recommend me some Jane's Addiction? I've only got Ritual

Bartender 07-02-2007 01:24 PM

Nothing's Shocking is about as good as Ritual.

British Beef 07-02-2007 02:53 PM

bands in the vien of meshuggah please.

italic zero 07-02-2007 03:21 PM

Intronaut
Sleepytime Gorilla Museum
Dillinger Escape Plan
The Melvins
Frank Zappa

Tyler 07-02-2007 03:32 PM

Coprofago
Textures

Both bands love their polyrhythmic chugging but unlike Meshuggah, they're enjoyable.

British Beef 07-02-2007 03:44 PM

i didnt enjoy meshuggah, but they grew on me.

Eliminator 07-02-2007 03:46 PM

you might like the album '76:14' by Global Communication. took me ages to find it but was worth it :p.

few reviews here: http://www.discogs.com/release/3300.

i'd say they're a little like Boards of Canada. great to chill to.

Meatplow 07-02-2007 06:24 PM

yes boards of canada once again

Seconded. Much, much better than Meshuggah IMO. Manages to be catchy too.

Grey Incision 07-04-2007 05:36 AM

hey, I've been a big metal, electronica and avant-garde fan for a while, enjoying a lot of Ulver, Aphex twin, Iannis Xennakis, Lux occulta, Necrophagist etc. but lately I haven't really found a lot.

I've heard a track by Maudlin of the well (Kayo dot), and i quite liked that, i think it was off the album Bath.

In general, I'm sort of after something that's quite dark, ambient, and maybe even jazzy, any recommendations?

.....sorry about the long post.....

This is basically describing Lemon Jelly, so try and get Lost Horizons by them.

Or you could listen to Flying Lotus' 1983, depends on your mood though.

Grey Incision 07-04-2007 05:52 AM

hey, thanks for the suggestions :)

Arcturus are great, I was the first person into their Sydney show  and as for Cynic, I've got the Focus album, and it's also top quality :)

blueyxd 07-04-2007 06:22 AM

Grey: check out Peccatum

thanks for the continued replies to my request as well

Grey Incision 07-04-2007 07:59 AM
