lol bad taste in music. No one is better at being protest than protest. If you like other bands more it's because they're doing something different that you prefer and not because they're actually better than protest.

That said, rabid wolves could not keep me from seeing them and Misery Signals in a few weeks. I don't care how long the train ride is.

Motiv3 04-13-2009 12:10 PM

what songs/album should i start with if im looking to get into PTH?

Xplisit 04-13-2009 12:12 PM

Well with any band I like to start with their earliest material so perhaps you should look into acquiring their EPs before their more polished work?

BridgeToSolace 04-13-2009 12:21 PM
what songs/album should i start with if im looking to get into PTH?
I don't care for their EP's, the production is bad and the vocalist is REALLY unpolished.

Get Kezia first, then go for Fortress. Kezia is a lot more accessible and it's easy to see the natural progression into Fortress.

Tyler 04-13-2009 12:51 PM

The production is perfect on the remastered EP but the vocals are rough. Tends to happen that way when the vocalist is 17.

Epic closemindedness itt
Epic closemindedness itt
epic not understanding what I said itt

thinking that different music should be rated on different scales is not close minded.

Unless saying that no one is better at being Protest than Protest is close minded, which it isn't really. It's just accurate observation. If you have other evidence to put forth to the contrary, feel free to do so.

The Feeding 04-13-2009 01:27 PM

i confused

Pastorius 04-13-2009 01:31 PM

Listening to the EP's first is stupid. Kezia for newbies everytime.

The Feeding 04-13-2009 01:32 PM

makes sense to me, it's my favorite album of theirs

Dude says there are bunches of bands hundreds of times better than Protest. This is a true statement.

You come around and disagree and say his taste in music is bad (impossibility) and go on to say that the Protest is by and far the best band at being Protest (which, as well as being retardedly obvious since they ARE Protest, is also a stupid statement because that's not what he was talking about at all).

Also, you have not heard every band in the world, nor have you heard 2% of all the bands in the world. So as well as closing your mind to even know what the person you were quoting was talking about, you also made ignorant statements claiming Protest is the best when in fact they probably are not.

Finally, rule number 1, musical taste is subjective. Derp!

The Feeding 04-13-2009 01:34 PM

not on the internet!

The correct term is "cyberspace", noob

Pastorius 04-13-2009 01:42 PM
makes sense to me, it's my favorite album of theirs
it's clearly not their most accessible material though dude

No, it's an opinion.
Dude says there are bunches of bands hundreds of times better than Protest. This is a true statement.
If music taste is subjective, how can you possibly make that statement?

I thought that saying 'lol bad taste' was indicative of a lack seriousness. I guess not. His music taste isn't objectively better or worse than anyone else's, but since he brought the discussion down to a level were there was objective taste, I followed suit.
You come around and disagree and say his taste in music is bad(impossibility) and go on to say that the Protest is by and far the best band at being Protest (which, as well as being retardedly obvious since they ARE Protest, is also a stupid statement because that's not what he was talking about at all).
Protest The Hero are best at going for what they're going for. Other bands like the Human Abstract and Ashura Accord who try to mix styles and be interesting and technical fail due to poor writing.

The guy was saying that he liked Protest and then stopped after he realized that 100s of bands are better. But those bands aren't better at the "mix of styles + interesting + technical + talented". No one gives a **** if he likes whatever style of music Protest the Hero isn't doing better than he likes the style they are doing.

It's ignorant (and close minded) to suggest that bands like The Hush Sound (dancey power pop) should be rated on the same scale as Protest The Hero. I can say that Protest The Hero is better but it means nothing because they aren't trying to be anything similar. There are bands that fit the same niche as Protest that can be judged in reference to them, though.

He's comparing The Hush Sound to Protest, which is retarded. Or he's comparing other Protest-like bands to Protest, in which case he's still retarded because he's just saying "Yeh, other **** is better" without adding anything to the thread.
Also, you have not heard every band in the world, nor have you heard 2% of all the bands in the world. So as well as closing your mind to even know what the person you were quoting was talking about, you also made ignorant statements claiming Protest is the best when in fact they probably are not.
Saying Protest is the best means I am comparing them to the their peers. And they are better than their peers. I don't care if you think Slayer or whoever the **** is better, because they aren't peers.

If there are better contemporaries of Protest The Hero, then either tell us about them or shut the ****. It's not ignorant to say Protest is the best because I have no reason to believe otherwise. Give me a reason to see it a different way.
Finally, rule number 1, musical taste is subjective. Derp!
Yeah, so don't make an objective claim like "100's of bands are better than protest". Derp!

The Feeding 04-13-2009 07:16 PM

that pic is epic

imperialblackness 04-13-2009 08:24 PM
