anything new on the release date or possible tours?
anything new on the release date or possible tours?
You need only to read the last few pages of this topic to realise there isn't. If people hear ANYTHING new they will jump in and post it straight away.

On a different note. Maynard said something like not ever putting half of himself into a band. He said he would commit 100% to projects at a time. Wether that means this Tool album, a couple tours, then another APC CD i don't know.

Adam Jones is GOD 03-02-2005 05:41 AM

The last tool album idea unfortunately holds some weight. Since the members are all geting on in age factor, MJK will bur himselfs out with all the bands he's trying to perform with, Danny's metallic implants are running low on power, Adam is slowly ascending and is now only half in this world, half in the next. And Justin will finally get fed up with American food, and return home to reform Peach.

But seriously, I wont be looking into such an option until i've had some new audio delights from them.

And to add to the Bikini Bandits comment, it was played at 12am on Christmas Day one year, I stayed up because I heard MJK was the devil.

Danny will dissapear into the mystic underground world of bang bang bash.
Maynard will move completely out of the spotlight and just laugh at his life.
Justin will come home and have some good ol' fish n' chips.
Adam, heaven? Okay, as long as Danny can go to.

Shame people still get old. Reading some Doctors opinion about 80 years ago I think. "By 200, people will live to 400 years old with the way medicine is advancing." Haha, bit of a random way to finish a post, but then, it was, quite a random post.

Werny 03-02-2005 05:53 AM

Haven't heard much APC, only Imagine (yes I know, I won't judge them on it) and Judith. Judith is an ok song, nothing incredibly special. One of those retarded songs that starts off heavy and brutal then turns sad and melancholy during the chorus (this ruins many Live songs). Are all APC songs like this? Hope not.

A question I've been meaning to ask... was Maynard a lieutenant (sp?) in the army? If so... LK... Lieutenant Keenan... even if he wasn't one, it still could be that.... interesting...

Another question: Do you think it's possible the album will be called Systema Encephale? I think that's what it was (for those who don't know, it's what Tool said Lateralus was going to be, to screw around with the public).

James Howlett 03-02-2005 07:02 AM

I saw APC live a couple of years back when they were touring with Deftones and Maynard had grown his hair long enough to sit on it. I was wondering if he truly has some godlike genes or something, cuz one year earlier, not even a year, he was bald when preforming with Tool on Ozzfest.

conciousuniverse 03-02-2005 10:04 AM

I love all of Tool and APC's music.

For me, and maybe because Im a girl, APC definitely embraces some more feminine qualities. It is good to see Maynard balance the too personalities.

Listening to Emotive for the first time on my birthday, Oct 30, was phenomenal. My 4-unit of best friends and I felt like we were being taken on yet another enlightening journey. Personally, this is because we greatly sympathize with the attitudes expressed on the album. Lets Have a War is my favorite. F*ck Smiley-glad hands... And for me, the songs do relate to the state of the union and the collective unconcious. I could go on and on, but that means we are going to get into heavy occult and spiritual matters, as well as "conspiracy theories" and this is a music forum, so I will resist.

Amotion is worth the purchase for the commentary alone. There is also an interesting video collage by Billy that we have watched many times. At first I was put off by the Bikini Bandits, but Thinking of You is a song about masterbation, so the video is justified.

Also, I would not be suprised if this is the last album from Tool, and possibly one more from APC before Billy releases his solo project (which I am looking forward too as well.) Then I expect Maynard to become a music Producer & an official Wino. God bless him. I am sure we will see many more artworks from all of the artists involved, whether they are up front, or behind the scenes.

So I guess the Tool CD is definitely coming out in June of this year! Can't fvcking wait!

clearvision 03-02-2005 02:17 PM

Proof.

where di you hear that?

Sleeper 03-02-2005 03:20 PM
Please, don't even hint about this being true. :upset:
Well i dont think anyone wishes that in this thread, But it could be a reality.

Rounder 03-02-2005 03:44 PM

i have heard that the guys and maynard are finally getting together soon, since apc is on hiatus. Ive heard that Apc is done with maynard, that that may move on, but that is probably not true.

If you have winamp, you can go to the winamp.com videos section of the media library, and under hard rock you can see videos for passive, and a remixed version of a song of 13th step. Forgot the original name, but the remix name is counting the bodies like sheep (yea that one). It kinda has an eggs of satan feel to it, but the video is really good.

I have nightmares about this being Tool's last album, Ive heard maynard say in different interviews about the future, all he says is 'i dont know, Tool is what Im doing right now'. I definately see an end coming, who knows though. Its been a fun ride for sure.
"I was at the 96.5 K Rock Tsunami Relief Concert last night and I was completely awed when Maynard walked out to sing a few songs ... and I have to add did a wonderful job at it. The irony is that outside before the show some guy from K Rock was interviewing people outside (we were one of the first 10 people in line for the show) and he asked me if I could have anyone sing for Layne who would my dream "replacement" be and I of course answered "Maynard from Tool". We both laughed like yeah right in a cold day in hell. So I was very surprised when my dream came true. I just wanted to let someone know that it kicked *** and I really enjoyed the whole show. I really miss Layne and Alice in Chains will very obviously never be the same now that he's gone but last night was really awesome and Maynard did him right."
from Tools main website.. thought is was cool as hell Maynard singing for Layne. Layne has alwyas been an influence on me and i miss the music,

That's interesting, I don't know what Maynard's rank was while he was in the military. It would follow the tradition of Maynard–named songs, such as "Jimmy" and "Maynard's Dick".

TheSubtleArts 03-02-2005 04:13 PM

i heard some songs from that concert, i thought he did especially well on "man in the box"

D3ATH of a NATION 03-02-2005 04:19 PM

I heard that the Tool CD is coming out somtime in the late Spring Early summer because all the music is recorded already. They are just waiting for Maynard to put the vocals on.

Darkness 03-02-2005 04:23 PM

Then you heard wrong, as they are still writing.

conciousuniverse 03-02-2005 04:44 PM

Man in the Box was my favorite.

In other news,
Has everyone read the Jan. Newsletter?

My uncle found this out from his friend and told me. I don't know if this is true but he's a producer who I believe is in the know. Other Tool fans I know have said the same thing too.

Around June.

clearvision 03-02-2005 04:47 PM

Well i have heard that they will tour in july which would back up your calim, however my source was not V reliable, we can but hope i suppose.

Kage 03-02-2005 06:14 PM

If they're still writing, I have serious doubts that it will be out by June or July. Unless they're just doing it where they finish a song completely, record it, then work on another song.

back to the front 03-02-2005 06:22 PM

Hopefully it comes by June. Waiting gets old, and makes fans get ancy.

Kage 03-02-2005 06:23 PM

As long as they deliver a quality album that's worth waiting for, I don't mind.

back to the front 03-02-2005 06:27 PM

^ True. But it would be nice to be done waiting...and be enjoying the music.

Dr. Jake Destructo 03-02-2005 06:40 PM

True, but then again, I have some Tool material to catch up on anyways. I have Lateralus and Æima, but I have been thouroughly blown away with both. So, I don't really mind if they get their new album out now or later. I have quite the list of albums to purchase that have been released this year. Frances the Mute, whenever Meshuggah's new one comes out, SoaD's albums, etc..

NP: Mahavishnu Orchestra-Celestial Terrestrial Commuters. :cool

EDIT:  I thought this was the community thread for a second.

Kage 03-02-2005 06:40 PM

Of course. The only thing that bothers me is this period of waiting; the one where we know virtually nothing except that there will be one and *sometime* soon. I like when there have been details released--the final stretch.

Dried Muffin Remnants 03-02-2005 06:48 PM

Yep, I'm waiting on a lot of albums too. Mars Volta being the shortest wait.

Kage 03-02-2005 06:50 PM

NIN, Deftones, Tool, Cold are the main ones for me.

Dr. Jake Destructo 03-02-2005 06:53 PM
Yep, I'm waiting on a lot of albums too. Mars Volta being the shortest wait.
Came out yesterday. :thumb:

To Kage, I know exactly how you feel. The bad thing about knowing when an album comes out is the fact that the release is garunteed to get knocked back about 6 months. Take SoaD's new album(s). The original release date was scheduled for November 21. Currently, the release date is May something. :irritated:

Oh well, I have become less of a SoaD fanboy due to this extended wait, which is probably a good thing, amirite?

Dried Muffin Remnants 03-02-2005 07:11 PM

I know! But I have to wait 'til tomorrow. :upset:

I thought that I could just take my time and pick it up today, but they were out.
