original hardcore bands that werent edge: black flag, reagan youth, the beastie boys first ep was hardcorebad brains, big boys, dead kennedys (either punk or hardcore depending who you ask), gang green, die kreuzen, the effigies (a bit more post-hardcore but still sweet), agnostic front, MDC many more...
nowadays hardcore im not so sure i think hoods isnt straight edge but i dont follow modern hardcore that much.

I already listen to Black Flag, though all I have is Damaged and First Four Years but I'll check out some of the others. Thanks

BANE is a modern band that isn't focused on straight edge. Some of BANE's members are edge, but the lyrics arent based on straight edge, so i wouldn't call them a straight edge band.

Do you have some moral problem against listening to straight edge bands?

I'm not straight edge myself, so I assumed it would be inappropriate for me to listen to bands immersed in the lifestyle.

You don't have to believe in everything a band does to like their music. I don't claim edge, but I still listen to straight edge bands.

Once again R&M has gone off in a ramble about metalcore, in which they regard bands like AILD and KSE as hardcore influenced bands. Apparantly hardcore is punk with "core" influence and metalcore is metal with "core" influence? :rolleyes:
