Man, the school nurses suck here. Like..hardcore.

It took them 15 minutes just to give me freaking Tylanol =/

officer doofy 08-21-2006 11:20 PM

Memento is an amazing movie

Sunshine 08-21-2006 11:21 PM

Y'know, I just saw Accepted on Friday.

That was a gooood movie.

[But then. I like Zoolander too, so perhaps my opinion on movies is slightly less than relevant.]

I dont understand why he just didnt carry around a video camera.
I dont understand why he just didnt carry around a video camera.
i thought that too, but think about it...
since he forgets everything so quickly he need notes that are straight to the point and he wouldn't be able to go through all that video
and a video camera would be high maintenance (battery, tape etc...) especially for how much he would have used it
plus, the whole point of the movie is that he didn't really want to remember the whole truth, he wanted to be able to modify and manipulate his "memories" to keep himself happy.

Well, dont worry about Robin Williams movies. I think he does some funny stuff, But honestly, I think he is a bad actor.

Memento has a hell of a cool story.

Maggot Dream 08-21-2006 11:48 PM

I saw Snakes on a Plane a couple days ago.

Say what you will, but it was actually quite a good movie. They actually attempted character development and everything, and it worked out pretty well. It was alot more graphic/bloody than I expected, but I enjoyed it throroughly.

Plus, Samuel L. Jackson rules. Plain and simple.

MatthewMeredith 08-21-2006 11:53 PM

I heard somewhere that he wouldn't do the movie unless the called it "Snakes on a Plane".

I've lost all respect from him after hearing said rumour.

Is that a serious movie? I always thought it was supposed to be satire...

Maggot Dream 08-21-2006 11:55 PM

Yeah, I heard that too.

No reason to lose respect for him though. I mean, the movie wouldn't really have been an attraction if it had been called anything else.

EDIT: It's sorta serious. I mean, it has a viable plot and everything, and alot of people die, and there's genuine emotion, but through it all, it's still Snakes on a Plane and Samuel L. Jackson. The combination is part of what made it so good, to me at least.

Scratch that.

The World According to Garp beats all.

Janeway 08-22-2006 01:00 AM

Isn't there supposed to be a euphoric feeling after exercise?
I did 2.5 miles on a stupid exercise bicycle while watching half of an episode of Star Trek because I was bored as heck, but all I got afterwards was a head ache. =/

Seafroggys 08-22-2006 01:29 AM

i'd get a headache after watching Star Trek as well.

"Maybe we could reverse the polarity on the inverse impulse capacitors, and that will fix all the problems of this episode!"

Argh, terrible plot devices.

Brokensticks 08-22-2006 01:32 AM

Off to bed. G'night D&P

Janeway 08-22-2006 01:37 AM

I still enjoy it very much.

I don't care how fucking unbelievable and cheesy it is, I enjoy Janeway and Kes and B'Elanna Torres.

And all Sci-Fi involving space and the military has all of that technical crap that makes no sense at all, but is worded in such a complicated fashion and said with such conviction that the viewer/reader can't help but suspend their disbelief and enjoy it.

Seafroggys 08-22-2006 01:40 AM

I LOVE SCI-FI! Don't get me wrong. But if you care about characters, character interation and development, and well, characters, then Star Trek is the last show you want to watch. It uses all the techno wizardry to make the show, which, ultimately, makes them shallow.

Good sci-fi has good characters and enviornemtns.

Haha, what about MacGuyver?

"Maybe this rubber band, ball point pen and my shoelaces will fix the highly complex laser"

Edit: someone make that funny

Janeway 08-22-2006 01:51 AM

Yeah, but the Voyager ship reminds me of a big, comfy, awesome hotel room and I get all giddy when I think about being locked up in hotels, so I like to watch it. There. That's the real reason I like it.
Give me another sci-fi show that involves a big floaty hotel and I'll watch it.

But anyways, since your so Sci-Fi adept, what would you recommend?

Edit: Hmmmttdsfsddrrrrriggrick.
I'm bored. I feel really relaxed now, but it's 2 hours after I exercised.
Eh. I think I might start working out regularly. Maybe.
=/

Win A Rabbit 08-22-2006 02:25 AM

I'm going for an x-ray tomorrow. Hope it goes well. Hopefully I've just got weak back muscles, and not a deformity in my spine. Unfortunately, the chances of me having a deformity in my spine are very high.

I've been working out alot lately. I wouldn't really call it a euphoric feeling, but alot of the times I'll completely zone out and just realize that I'm x-distance from the last point I remember. It's a good feeling coming up that final stretch though. That makes it all worth it.

Corkofski 08-22-2006 07:44 AM

i had to phone trading standards, this is what happened:

*ring ring*

Trading standards: "hello, this is east sussex tradingg standards, you are speaking to jane. all our advisers are busy but i can take your number or you can ring back later"

me: ??wtf??
"im sorry, but if you dont mind me asking, what exactly is your job role, if you arent an adviser?"

Trading standards: "well, one of the main complaints we recieve is that
people don't like automated reply systems or queues, so i am employed to ensure people talk to a real person."

me:"so, in effect, you are a human 'on hold'"

trading standards "yes"

me: *cracks up on phone and hangs up*

Yes, commonly known as the 'runners high'.

Interesting paper on it - http://www.lehigh.edu/~dmd1/sarah.html

You'll only see that effect when you push your body. 2.5 miles of biking is nothing. I ride 3 miles for a warmup before lifting for an hour in the mornings here, it's like 5:45am..

ofDooM 08-22-2006 11:46 AM

MXicanDrummer 08-22-2006 11:52 AM

We had some good times, too bad she was a bitch...

Corkofski 08-22-2006 12:38 PM

MXicanDrummer 08-22-2006 12:40 PM

maniac0796 08-22-2006 12:57 PM

evening everyone.

I have to find a way to get from seaton to lyme regis through cycling, without going on the main road. That means no SW coast path. I have to use all these back lanes which are all steep as a mound of crap. One hill covered 70M of altitude in 1/3 of a mile.
