Seriously, Axis and Allies destroys (just beats out risk though).

If there is a game with the random outcome and start of RISK, but the depth of Axis and Allies, i would totally buy it.

Axis and Allies is a strategy game that takes place over the entire world, in spring of 1942 (the height of World War II). The Axis powers, Germany and Japan, are in position to attack a lot of Allied areas at the start of the game, and they have to react quickly and take charge. The Allies, however, start with a position not favorable to defense, but they have a stronger economy (a major part of the game), and about 3 or 4 turns later, the allies will have finally gotten a few strongholds. Theres all kinds of different ground, air, and naval units too.

The best analogy Ive heard was that Risk is like Checkers, where Axis and Allies is like Chess.

GTFO, that game gets way tense towards the later stages when both Germany and Japan are threatening Moscow.

And AA is played with teams, so its fun in that sense too.

Board game. Compared to Risk, that analogy is perfect. Theres a lot more depth, all of the units have different abilities, you can build up technology, and every nation has a different responsibility.

I played a chess game with my friend in my english class every day for a few weeks last year. I got pretty good at it. I beat him maybe 3 times, and we didn't finish a few times.
