And her name is Line 6.

That's pretty awesome. I wish I had a more top-of-the-line POD: mine's a measly old Version 2.0 from when the POD first came out three years ago.

Aw, that sucks. Sell it and get the XT live. :)

Alright, I woke up at 10 to work on this paper.

It's 11:40 right now.

Guess how much I have written down?

Yep, not a word.

I should get started on this paper... yep.

Cain 03-20-2005 10:51 AM
Aw, that sucks. Sell it and get the XT live. :)
I really should. Except it's my dad's, technically.

Dr. Jake Destructo 03-20-2005 10:53 AM

Sup guys. It's 8:47 right now, (AM,) and I just got done writing a 'found poem' from the book Black Boy. :-/

NP: Mother-Pink Floyd

Jom 03-20-2005 11:02 AM

Come on, Jim. At least four pages. You can do this. Just get it over with, and try to salvage the rest of your weekend. It's the first draft, it's not going to be perfect. The profs would still tear it up if it was a perfect paper. Just write, have good grammar, make your points, use quotes, back up your claims, and nothing bad will come out of this. Just get to work.

So far: I wrote my title and adjusted my margins to 1" on all sides.

Cain 03-20-2005 11:03 AM

Lunchtime!

And then probably practicing some guitar. But I'll see you guys later.

...everyone knows by now that I was once Ripper22, right? 'Cause I wanna change my user title.

Dr. Jake Destructo 03-20-2005 11:05 AM

Maybe you should ask for a mod to ban you for a day. That would probably give you the push to actually get something down. :p

NP: Young Lust-Pink Floyd

One of Roger's cooler bass lines and one of Gilmour's most underrated solos, IMO.

EDIT: Frick, user title typo. "THey?"

Cain 03-20-2005 11:07 AM

The new name is pretty funny, dude. :)

Jom 03-20-2005 11:11 AM

No, I'm not asking for a ban, Jake. I like my zero ban streak and I plan on keeping it intact.

So far: I've looked up Sparknotes and am ready to commence writing :eng101:

Dr. Jake Destructo 03-20-2005 11:14 AM

Technically, it wouldn't be a ban, but really, it wouldn't be a demerit on your perfectly clean mx record. Do you get what I'm saying? Your no ban streak may end, but you would still have a no error streak.

I remember when my ban record got devirginized. Fucking Joshmay. I still laugh every once in a while at the fact that I got banned for spamming the pit. refl

EDIT: Glad you like it, Cain.

Dr. Jake Destructo 03-20-2005 11:27 AM

What was your old account, Med?

Jelle closed this thread one day for a couple minutes. Lemme find the page for you. It was funny/scary as hell.

EDIT: I'll find it later, but now I have to get going. See you guys, and Jim, good luck with your essay. :p

Jom 03-20-2005 11:55 AM

Woo! I wrote a paragraph!

Underworld Visits in the Aeneid and the Odyssey

In Homer’s Odyssey and Virgil’s Aeneid, the protagonists’ visits to the underworld are an important part of the poems as a whole. Both Aeneas and Odysseus have significant reasons for traveling to the underworld: Odysseus wished to speak with Tiresias for guidance, and the blind prophet shared Odysseus’ fate with him. Tiresias explained that Odysseus would return to his home in Ithaca and slay the suitors who had overrun his palace, but that he would also encounter numerous dangers in his travels on the way home. In the Aeneid, Aeneas was beckoned in a dream to the underworld by his father Anchises, who tells Aeneas to visit him in the underworld and meet him there (Virgil, V.950, 2). While both men had a pre-determined course of action in their travels, both men endured other unplanned events in their visits to the underworld. For example, both protagonists saw the damned souls in the underworld, many of them allies and friends. While the protagonists’ visits are comparable, their travels also differ considerably.

So far, so good? :-\

Jom 03-20-2005 12:01 PM

Also, could someone explain to me this part of my topic question:
How does Virgil transform his Homeric model, and for what purposes?
I don't get what my profs mean there
123 to that, Tender. :upset: I would just ignore it, Jim, and hope for the best. :-/
This is what I figured, too, and then I can go and ask the nicer prof what that question meant.

The only problem is that if the profs feel my draft is "unsatisfactory," I get 1/3 of my grade lowered for the final draft.

For example, if I get a 2.7 (B-) on it, it automatically drops to a 2.3 (C+), and that sucks, because this paper is 25% of my final grade, and I already got a 2.3 on the first one, so if I get a 2.3, I basically am setting myself up for a C+ in my Honors class, which won't look good for my Honors college transcript.

Wpah !, long run-on sentence there. Too many conjunctions.

Oh, well. I don't care.

/me goes back to writing

Hope you're all well :)

Jom 03-20-2005 01:05 PM
Explanations.
It doesn't matter, you're helping me out substantially.

This is what pisses me off about my dick professor:

He tells us to keep these two books from last semester for this one, and he says that we are free to sell the others back.

We used those two books ONCE ALL SEMESTER.

He then tells us that we ideally need to use the same copies of the Iliad and Odyssey that we used for last semester. Yeah, we sold them back, and the uni bookstore sold those copies already back to the publisher... so I went to the library and picked up a copy of each, and the lines aren't numbered.

If he gives me an unsatisfactory remark just because I didn't use the same books that we used last semester (no one has these books anymore, either, they're using library copies as well), I'm going to be soooo pissed.

Sounds like a plan. Does your buffet area have a horrible, greasy selection of food? The pub at my school serves the most unhealthy expensive dreck ever, but the cafeteria is a stomach's worst nightmare so they take us for everything we're worth when it comes to food.

Jom 03-20-2005 01:58 PM

The buffet actually has some nice alternative (read: healthier) meals, but yeah, there is some greasy shit.

The buffet is broken up into six components:

1. Two parts of "The Grill" (one side is usually burgers/chicken sandwiches, the other side is is usually grilled cheese or quesadillas).

2. There is a salad bar with salad, pasta, and on Wednesdays, the Iron Chef sushi people are there making rice balls.

3. There is "Mediterranean Grill" which is fire-oven pizza.

4. There is a pasta and panini place, which is usually pretty good, even though they make the sauce beforehand and then just reheat it.

5. There is "Grand Traditions" with always has roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, rice, vegetables, and then the special (tacos, wraps, macaroni and cheese, etc.)

6. There is a dessert bar (cookies, soft-serve, brownies, pudding, etc.)

Yesterday was pretty good, so hopefully today won't suck :-\

That's way way better than my pub. Another problem is that the employees all speak Spanish as a first language and don't respond to requests very well. There's virtually nothing I can do when they put about five slices of cheese on my grilled cheese sandwich and forget to put butter on the bread. :p

It was alright. Uneventful, really. Listened to a mix tape my sister made months ago that happened to be in the car, and some of the stuff one it was good. I spent most of the time reading an old magazine - specifically, the reviews section. Reading album reviews is something of an obsession of mine.

Does anyone know where the hell I can get Cro Mags - The Age of Quarrel?

I've heard from everyone that owns it that it's a crossover classic, but I don't know anywhere that sells it on the shelves.

I don't know if it ever came out on CD though. Most people just have it as a LP.
