Hey classic rock fans, I need your help identifying a song again! :(
There's this really long instrumental song that's always on my classic rock station. It's a winding country/Southern rock-type jam with really slidey, twangy guitars and a cool melody. When I heard the Allman Brothers song "Ramblin' Man" I heard a similar sound so it might be them. So, are there any long (about 7-8-min.) instrumental songs by the Allman Brothers Band that are usually played on radio stations? |
"Jessica"?
That would be my guess. |
Could it be Marshall Tucker Band's "Long Hard Ride"?
|
Allman Brothers - Blue Sky?
It's a Dickey Betts song like "Ramblin' Man". It is quite a long jam that's pretty Countryish. EDIT: Oh, instrumental :( I'm sure we can come up with it though. Are you winning contests off of these answers? :) "
Jessica"? That would be my guess.
Most likely, if you ask me. |

^"Jessica" is much more melodic and Countryish than "Elizabeth Reed", though. I doubt it's "Elizabeth Reed". :)
|
I'm just gonna step in here and tell you its "Jessica", especially if the main riff sounded familiar. A lot of people have heard, but don't know who did it or what the song is.

I missed that countryish part :thumb: Hey, you missed instrumental :p |
A quick sample from allmusic.com says it is indeed "Jessica" by the Allman Brothers Band. :thumb:
So, who wants to YSI that baby over to me? |

I dont know what Brothers and Sisters is. I guess an Allman Brothers Album. |
Yea, it's like 'the Dickey Betts Allman Brothers album'.
|
Hmmm, so more countryish?
|
I don't know, I'll I know is that Dickey Betts gets a lot of credit for that album.
|
How would you describe The Allman Brothers Sound? Kinda like Skynyrd?
How would you describe The Allman Brothers Sound? Kinda like Skynyrd?
But bluesier. |
No, more countryish, jamish, less thick blues distortionish, but ive only heard one album by the allmans and a greatest hits by skynyrd.
|
They both play Country Blues (In a way), but the Allman's are more serious about the two genres, while L.S. adds a lot more Rock.
If that makes sense. |

Hmm, The Skynyrd I've heard isnt that bluesy, but then again I dont listen to them. |
Not really bluesy, but they have that thick distortion, the allmans are cleaner..
I don't know how to expalin it that well |
Skynyrd isn't bluesier, harder, rockier, not bluesier.
|

Ok thats what I thought. |
Cool.
|
So how long have you guys been into classic rock?
I've only been into it for about a year now. |
Um, I been listening to it for my whole life but started appreciating it about a year and a half or two years ago.
Got Led Zeppelin II and High Voltage on the same day. |
So how long have you guys been into classic rock?
I've only been into it for about a year now.
'bout two years ago. My sister played me The Beatles 1, and I liked it. Then I bought The Rolling Stones Forty Licks in September '03, and I was hooked. I loooove classic rock, especially The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Who, Eric Clapton, and the Velvet Underground. |
I started out listening to Black sabbath about 2 years ago, then i slowly got into zeppelin, AC DC, ect... but I've been really really into it for a year.
|
Black Sabbath was a big part, I found Paranoid and Master of Reality on viynl just after my dad showed my how to work the record player.
