Nah, it was about guitars.

And I don't get the joke

I'm going to screen the article, if it was anygood and if I was even in it I'll post a link :p
A former mx reg from this thread was on the radio once, but her moment of crowing glory was describing how a bean sandwich tasted. To describe it as 'it's got a lot of bean in it' was the end of that radio career prospect.

This was a long time back, hence why I dont think any of the current crop would get it

Patrick O))) 05-17-2006 08:13 AM

:lol::lol:

Who was it? I'm not so young a user :p
ew ew ew

A few years back my family were going on hoilday for two weeks, when we got back I had a little pile of washing to take downstairs, it had been lying on my carpet for the two weeks. I picked it up and the biggest spider ever came crawling out.
/shivers.
I had some trousers hung up, and as I put them on, a spider crawled out of the pocket, it scared the shat outta me, but then I picked it up, and put it on the windowsill. :)

Jev 05-17-2006 10:17 AM

No way. Hulk Hogan's like 80. The green one's permenantly young.

Patrick O))) 05-17-2006 10:18 AM

Dunno. It was only a nine minute thing, though, so I'm not dissappointed or owt.

They guy doing the interview was kind've irritating. He was pretty old, and he kept asking shit questions like

"Oooh, that was loud!"
"Hah, yeah, I use headphones most of the time."
"What about the neighbours, heh, do you, eh, do you make them deaf?"
"No, I use headphones."

You know when an old person gets one idea and runs with it? It was "Old - heh - old rockers" "oh, your dad's a bit of an old rocker is he?" "any old rockers in the family?". He was perfectly nice, but not every guitarist is an 'old rocker' with no regard for the neighbours.

He wasn't especially good, to be honest.

This is true :p

I'm applying for uni just now...eep
I'm having to do it through the UCAS company thing, which means I'm probably mucking up all the course codes!! lol

I have to write my personal statement again - I hate writing about myself :(
Can you guys give me any pointers?

Mr. Black 05-17-2006 10:29 AM

But hogan has like 15 years of fake wrestling, he HAS to win.

You can fly.

Patrick O))) 05-17-2006 10:37 AM

Ooooh, where're you applying?

Personal statement, eh? Don't put anything negative. If you've no choice, twist it so it reads "I'm working to improve my ... " rather than "I'm not very good at ..."

If you mention books, mention genres, not authors. And when you get an interview, be reading a book, don't say you've just finished one, otherwise they'll start asking you about it.

Yeah, just play up everything and give examples, but if you can fill the page without repeating yourself, do. Long, coherent and eloquent sentences are good.

If you can reword this into your statement, more power to you :p I think this might have got me into Uni:

"I am currently working towards achieving a distinction level at grade 8 classical guitar, though any work I do quickly becomes pleasure thanks to my enjoyment of the intrument and the music." Or it was something to that effect, I can't quite remember

Mexican Bandito 05-17-2006 10:37 AM

That I can

I don't want them to know about my super powers just incase they want to experiment on me... that'd ruin the whole uni experiance for me.

Thanks Pat.
I've got an old one already written from last year. I just need to find it and update it.
I'm applying to do psychology, philosophy and english studies, I'm not really wanting to do all three but you have to take 3 courses in your first year... I'll end up enjoying it anyway.

PAJJ 05-17-2006 10:37 AM

Plus the hulk is a drawing :-\

Zowe
You want to say things like why you want to do the course, what interests you about it, why you want to take it at uni, what you offer like skills and things, what you're currenlty working on, and interests, eg. if it's art talk about your favourite atists, english writers etc.
You only really want to briefly talk about interests out side of it.
but i might not be the best person to ask my personal statement started with "I like paint."

Mr. Black 05-17-2006 10:38 AM
You can fly.
Adam Jones is GOD 05-17-2006 11:39 AM

You speak of Leicester to a Forest fan, so I can say that row Y in the stadium sucks like the rest of the team and everything to do with it :p

But honestly, im not sure, not been to the Walkers Stadium yet, its not a good place to go for a Forest fan
