That's the only album I had of theirs, and I've never given it a good listen. I got it at a time when I got a lot of other albums, so I only went over it breifly.
|
You should really listen to it
|
I can't get into King Crimson. I love 21st Century Schizoid Man, but that's it. I have ITCOTCK and Starless and Bible Black, but I can't get into it.
|
I just saw the top 100 mxers list on the pit and there are a few people from here
Congratulations :thumb: |
Yea, number 86 for me. I was really surprised I was even on there.
|
I was hoping to get somewhere on there :/
|
No complaints here.
I did vote for all of you, btw. |
From an earlier discussion, Paul's girlfriend was Jane Asher.
I bought myself Piper At the Gates of Dawn and Pet Sounds for my birthday, and my friend bought me an Allmans hits album (she couldn't find Eat A Peach:( ) CCR is excellent. I would call them a country blues band. I rented Tommy, Dead Ahead, and Yellow Submarine from the local video store last week. My dad said he and my mom went to see Tommy when it came out and they left the theater because they thought it was so bad. I didn't think it was too bad though. Grateful Dead's version of Little Red Rooster is the only one I have liked so far. I found some Kinks albums at Barnes & Noble and I'm thinking about buying them. Should I? They're not too expensive; I can only remember Lola vs. Powerman...., Village Green..., and Something Else By the Kinks. I don't know if I should buy those or Tommy first. |
Wait, Tommy the movie or album? The album is absolutely necessary for everyone to own (obviously), but those Kinks albums are all great. Lola and Village Green are both must-haves, but you should try to find Arthur before Something Else. SE is still good though.

/has never heard Tommy
|
Tommy the album.
Any King Crimson fans out there? If so
I listened to In the Court of the Crimson King and I really liked it, what other albums are good?
discipline is my favorite album by them. red is also good. alot of their stuff is hard for me to get into. i love those three albums though. thrak isnt bad either. i have a ton of their stuff. i should probably delete some of it that i dont listen to. |
/has never heard Tommy
You poor kid :(. I'll pray for you. |
You poor kid :(. I'll pray for you.
Don't worry, I'm taking care of it. |
^
You could always upload some material (hint hint, knudge knudge.) |
If I had known so many of you people were in need of this album, I would have. I thought more people had it then this.
|
Well it was in my pops record collection intil it got scratched beyond reconnizing due to being played so many time.
|
I've seen Tommy, but never heard the album.....its on my list, don't worry!
Now Yellow SUbmarine is the best movie ever! |
Oh man, this is terrible.
|
I've been into Green River lately. Which is odd, being that several weeks ago I would have thought of it as average or below.
It's very broken down, and quite basic, but of course composed very well. Reminds me of the sounds of an old school high school dance, on a few songs at least. |
Oh man, this is terrible.
Yea, we need to lock this place down, and not release anyone 'til they have every basic Classic Rock album. |

Sarcasm aside, people should own Tommy. |
I'm in need of Tommy as well, and I'm too broke and can only find a few songs from it on Limewire. Anyone want to upload it on YSI? Or AIM it to me -- SN is MisterGroovy1023.

It was uploaded recently in one of the YSI threads. |
Easy Rider was badass.
Haven't heard Tommy yet. (but I have not had much desire to) The psychedelic San Fran scene is massively overrated. |
I can't believe none of you own Tommy. I thought it was one of those albums like DSOTM, Sgt. Pepper's, IV, etc. that everyone owned. One of the "essential" albums.
Well I'm off to take my last final exam. Then summer starts. :D |
Good luck with that. :thumb:

Whatever happened to that list we were trying to make of the Essential Classic Rock albums? Robo gave us a good start. Essential Albums --------------------- Tommy Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band IV (debatable?) Dark Side of the Moon and... (looks through iTunes) Abbey Road The Allman Brothers at Fillmore East (Hey, it's at the library of Congress, it should be on our internet list too) Keep adding. |
I'll add
The Doors- s/t Boston- s/t Van Halen- s/t Paranoid |
I'll add
The Doors- s/t Boston- s/t Van Halen- s/t Paranoid
I wouldn't dare say those two are "essential". American B - Grateful Dead Highway 61 Revisted - Bob Dylan Piper of the Gates of Dawn - Pink Floyd I'd also say Eat a Peach is more essential than Live at Filmore East. |
