I couldn't be bothered to go to school yesterday so i went shopping and went to a newsagent and picked up a magazine and they had a little article saying that The Clash (Mick and Paul) are reforming with Tim from Rancid which I know everybody knows but thinks its not true but anyway Tim said that they rehearsed London Calling the other day and it sounded fu'cking brilliant. So I guess it is going to happen. They are not coming to Australia so I won't be able to see them.

guns_of_brixton 09-29-2005 03:33 PM

What magazine was it? It sounds like the exact fake story posted on here.

white_riot 09-29-2005 03:34 PM

Blunt Magazine.

guns_of_brixton 09-29-2005 03:36 PM

Sounds like a tabloid or a mag for potheads.

Skidmark Steve 09-29-2005 03:52 PM

is Tim going to sing? i hope not. his voice gets worse and worse as the years go on

JohnXDoesn't 09-29-2005 03:58 PM

The Clash are not reforming with Tim Armstrong.

Bite your tongues. :p

RIP Ian Curtis 09-29-2005 09:36 PM

I agree with Steve, before the bourbon and 50 marlboros a day voice was cool, in stuff like ruby soho, but now it just pisses me off.

"some of my friends sell records, some of my friends sell drugs"
what a smelly wanker he is. Just as well Metal Hammer gave the transplants album 1 out of ten, serves him right.

CombatRock 09-30-2005 03:22 PM
I will agree that The Clash are one of the best "political" bands around, the only other band who are their equal are the dead kennedys. Basically I judge a bands political music quality on whether or not I can get over disagreeing with them enough to really listen to them.
Thats, a first, a Clash fan who dosent agree with their message.

HAHAHHA I heard that song the other day and started laughing at that part.

AIRIC 10-02-2005 02:34 PM

I saw a sailboat called London Calling today.

redstainedeyes 10-02-2005 04:42 PM

Weird...where do you live?

AIRIC 10-02-2005 04:59 PM

It was on Lake George.

CombatRock 10-02-2005 05:31 PM

Why does every tv show/movie play London Calling, when the movie star goes to london. Surley there is more songs that mention london.
Thats, a first, a Clash fan who dosent agree with their message.
I also like The Dead Kennedys. And on the other hand, I like Skrewdriver.
I don't really care about the politics as long as I like the songs.

CombatRock 10-02-2005 09:51 PM

Yea, I always about a bands message after what they sound like.

Coma_Girl 10-02-2005 10:24 PM

i missed this thread.

I'm going to new york soon, and I want to see the wall where they painted Joe.

CombatRock 10-02-2005 10:29 PM

If you go make sure to take some pictures.

Lazybassplr56 10-02-2005 10:54 PM

I've seen it. It's pretty good.

CombatRock 10-03-2005 03:15 PM

What part of New York is it at?

Ghostfire3 10-03-2005 03:29 PM

Yeah, I've seen pictures of the wall. Tim Armstrong was there when it was being painted.

JohnXDoesn't 10-03-2005 03:32 PM
What part of New York is it at?
I think in the East Village. Is this it:

It's not what I expected. A bit cartoonish for my taste, perhaps. Although I like the Know Your Rights! thing at the bottom quite a lot.

Flagjacket 10-03-2005 03:58 PM

That's pretty cool. But yeah, it looks too much like a cariacture.

AIRIC 10-03-2005 04:02 PM

It's still pretty cool. Those artists in the city are amazing.

JohnXDoesn't 10-03-2005 04:14 PM

Only 50 years old. The man died too young.

A Joe bootleg from 2001 complete with a cover of The Harder They Come. It's pretty good.

CombatRock 10-03-2005 06:09 PM
Only 50 years old. The man died too young.
My dad would be the same age as Joe.

Ghostfire3 10-03-2005 08:36 PM

Yeah, I agree that it looks cartoonish, but it's still a cool tribute.

Was that the wall where they filmed the video for Redemption Song

CombatRock 10-03-2005 09:48 PM

Yea, thats the one. I plan on going to new york for my senior trip, and i will camp out by that wall.

RIP Ian Curtis 10-05-2005 08:01 PM

I love the story about the "London Calling" video shoot. With that DJ from the Roxy standing in a boat in the rain all day. Came out with a fu'cking cool clip. Even if that DJ has gone on to say the hippies were punk and hip-hop is the new punk, I'll forgive him beacuse of "London Calling" and selling drugs to Bob Marley.

JohnXDoesn't 10-05-2005 08:19 PM

This DJ you speak of? Was that Don Letts? Also can someone tell me if the bonus material at the end of the London Calling 25th Anniversary Edition album is worth a download. Were these tracks taken from the "White Tapes" I've read about?
Yea, thats the one. I plan on going to new york for my senior trip, and i will camp out by that wall.
That sounds great. Say 'hi' to Joe for us. That mural has grown on me a bit. I think Joe would of liked it. He was a character. I listened to Streetcore yesterday and this evening. Good record. I like the way Joe was maturing creatively. Although perhaps he should of kept his hands off Redemption Song.
:smash:

RIP Ian Curtis 10-05-2005 08:22 PM

Don Letts! That's the bloody name. Sorry, I forgot it and I was hoping someone would bail me out.

redstainedeyes 10-05-2005 08:24 PM

It must be Don Letts, as he's the only DJ who works in film, was involved with The Clash and punk rock in general, and sold drugs to Bob Marley.

RIP Ian Curtis 10-05-2005 08:26 PM

The Roxy was so cool. Even cooler because fu'cking Crass weren't allowed there.

JohnXDoesn't 10-05-2005 08:28 PM

I hate crass.

I wish i had some money, there is so much Clash/Joe stuff i want.

JohnXDoesn't 10-05-2005 09:55 PM

Can anyone answer my question about downloading the stuff I posted here:

http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=9911296&postcount=4671

I'm paying for it, so I would like some opinions before I do. And the song preview thing at the site isn't working for me. Thanks.

CombatRock 10-06-2005 10:15 PM

I wore my clash shirt to school today and some teacher started singing "Rock the Casbah" during passing periods.

white_riot 10-06-2005 10:27 PM

lol, your teacher must be pretty cool. Was it your DIY Shirt.

CombatRock 10-08-2005 12:21 AM

It wasnt my teacher, i wish she was. It was the one with the band on it, black and red. My myspace has it, and i swear one of these days i will post pictures of my DIY clash shirt.
