Nice Collection. Whats the one after Never Say Die? and why did you get Sold Our Souls?
After NSD! is the Greatest Hits album which I've only ever seen on cd once. Its basicly a bog standard collection of their best songs before TE was released. All of those albums upto Heaven and Hell are my Dad's, from Heaven and Hell onwards I've bought myself. My Dad was a pretty big Sabbath fan which probably explains why he got Sold Souls...the inside of the gatefold is a good picture though. stalker - I have paranoid on cd. I nearly bought it on vinyl once but decided not to. My Dad used to have it on cassette 'til I lent it to my friend then never saw it again, not that I'm bothered though. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v196/Lord_Brummington/My%20room/DSCF0461.jpg Sabbath and a few Ozzy cd's. |
i bought Paranoid on cd the other week...all the tracks on it except for Rat Salad and Hand of Doom are on the best of.
I dont see whats wrong with the Paranoid ALBUM, sure War Pigs and Paranoid get old (and Iron Man does too kinda) but the rest are great. Electric Funeral for one.

Hand Of Doom is actually my favorite song on that disc. |
Hand of Doom isnt a favourite of mine, I dunno why. But I do like Planet Caravan.
Planet Caravan and Hand of Doom are the only songs I tend not to skip from Paranoid, I kinda have to be in the right mood to hear songs from that album.
Paranoid is great, except for the title track and rat salad. But I think its preety bad compared to others. And to whoever wanted Deep Purple, I have a bunch of their stuff, I could upload some.
its a good album, but yeh war pigs and paranoid do get a bit boring.
Paranoid id say is wonderful, this comming from a man of over 30 Sabbath albums, the song Rat Salad inspired the name of the band Ratt which i thought was funny as it is a weaker Sabbath song. Hand of Doom and Electric Funeral are two of the most overlooked Sabbath gems ever written and showcase Ozzy's vocals for once on Hand of Doom. The hits are of course classics and are good for a listen every few months but i prefer the live versions of them all.
i don't have any live Sabbath, but Electric Funeral > most of the other songs on Paranoid, its so great. its also one of my favourite Sabbath songs.
/puts it on. |
Sabbath in general were better live than in the studio, they always seemed to have more energy and power behind the songs.

/puts it on.
Pantera's cover of it was great, but i like how Bill does the live drums of it and Vinnie left out the snare chops on the interlude :( oh well! hehe |
I can't wait to see them at Ozzfest.
^Same here seein them august 20th
I've never seen Sabbath live outside of DVD's, but from what I've heard they can get kind of bland sometimes.

The war pigs on ozzy's solo album 'the ozzman cometh' is way better than paranoids version. I like all of the paranoid album, i have even grown to like rat salad (especially when they put it together with hand of doom on past lives) Hmm i havnt listend to anything except sonata arctica and dragonforce for over 2 weeks... |
Black Sabbath are an amazing band. My fav song is Iron Man or Children of the Grave. :)
Children of the Grave is something special, fantastic live, has much more energy and power to it. I love embryo to. Can someone tell me if embryo is played on guitar or violin? cause they seem to play it live.
Embryo = Amazing piece. It's on guitar. One of my favorite things to play.
I had a glance at the tab, but never really tried it cause I thought it was trying to transcribe from violins, but I might learn it now. Does it use the pentatonic scale or some other scale?
Not sure truthfully.
Oh well it sounds good Ill learn it. Another great song of thiers I enjoy playing is Sweet Leaf, its just alot of fun.
Just wondering, why were you wanting to know what scale it was?

Not sure, i know there is an extra verse on the "lost" demos.
Yeh, its a good verse aswell.
I think they should ahve left it in.
Also forgot to say earlier but i think that war pigs on the stroy of vol 1 has better lyrics than studio 'pigs' |
Its the same version as on the Ozzman Cometh.
''Warpurlgis'', I think. |
I think the lyrics are slightly different, still good though.
Any news on this cover project? |
My favourite sabbath songs would have to be war pigs, fairies wear boots and iron man, and yes i have only heard PARANOID. But i never knew how much influence they had coz alot of more modern music sounds like theres. They are the original metal gods. Just got PARANOID today actually and it's great.
Kurt Cobain was a loser.
Welcome to the thread  |
That was a bit harsh.
True though, besides I'm in a bad mood :)
For the covers I'm not quite sure what's happening, no-one really seemed to care except me... |

Im not sure, but it sounds kind of like Harmonic Minor or Natural Minor. |

It's not fair i would love to do it, if only i could record. *cries* *sits in dark and writes emo song about it*...how would i write a song in the dark? |
You'd have a candal that you'd slowly burn yourself with aswell.
You'd have a candal that you'd slowly burn yourself with aswell.
Hmm i do believe i have some candals downstairs...*ponders* |
Haha.

Haha, excellent.
The weather is looking good for the party I'm going to tomorrow night, I've got myself a nice half bottle of Captain Morgan to drink :) I might try and blast some Sabbath during the night. |
