SubtleDagger 11-02-2005 09:26 AM

Yeah. The breaks in "To Buy A Gun" kind of tug at my screamo meter for no real good reason, but everything else is huge amounts of indie.

StandingStill 11-02-2005 10:03 AM

I hate 'white-belt' as a genre definition, damn stupid if you ask me. Another genre question for ya'll what would you all class: Drive Like Jehu, The Jesus Lizard, Ink+Dagger and 'mono'-era Icarus Line as?

RetiredAt21 11-02-2005 10:08 AM

But white belt PERFECTLY describes some bands.

SubtleDagger 11-02-2005 10:11 AM

The Jesus Lizard is pure alternative rock. Some people call it grunge before we had grunge, but I hate it when grunge is used as a genre.

I keep hearing ABOUT Icarus Line but I haven't found anything by them. I think I may have heard one song and it just sounded kind of hardcore. That was all I got from it.

Saturday Supercade 11-02-2005 10:14 AM

What's 'white belt'? never heard of it...

SubtleDagger 11-02-2005 10:15 AM
What's 'white belt'? never heard of it...
It's a silly term for scenester bands.

Please don't start using it.

Saturday Supercade 11-02-2005 10:16 AM

I wont

cuts_like_drugs 11-02-2005 10:23 AM

so is white belt the same sort of thing as saying a band is posercore?

Anyways, Drive Like Jehu I'd say are post hardcore

tornpictures 11-02-2005 10:29 AM

Yeah, Drive Like Jehu are mathy post-hardcore stuff.

StandingStill 11-02-2005 10:31 AM

Early Icarus Line was just really nasty hardcore, then on Mono they went a bit wierd. Now they are just an alt rock band with hints of hardcore+psychedelia.

cbmartinez 11-02-2005 05:06 PM

The Blood Brothers are just indie/punk.

whiteminority 11-02-2005 06:51 PM
The Blood Brothers are just indie/punk.
or just plain bad.

SunnyDayRealEstateAM 11-02-2005 07:40 PM

White-belt is a pretty retarded term. On another note, I listened to Kaospilot for the first time in a long time. I forgot how much they kick a'ss.

cbmartinez 11-02-2005 07:41 PM

Bleh, I've never been able to get into Kaospilot.

Wow 11-03-2005 12:11 AM

I love Kaospilot, dude. They turn my manvagina into the hoover dam.

SunnyDayRealEstateAM 11-03-2005 10:44 AM

What does it mean by "Unfiled Screamo" on the first page?

Wow 11-03-2005 10:54 AM

Unknown time period, I think. I forget.

StandingStill 11-03-2005 11:10 AM

Yeah. The Now, Joshua Fit for Battle + Hassan I Sabbah should be in modern screamo. Reckon Van Johnson would probably fit there as well. That is if unfiled screamo means your unsure of where to put them. If its time periods you want I can do at least 70% of those bands no problem.

Wow 11-03-2005 06:12 PM
Joshua Fit for Battle
JFFB aren't screamo.

StandingStill 11-03-2005 06:47 PM
JFFB aren't screamo.
cbmartinez 11-03-2005 06:53 PM

I can't remember ever having an argument with you

StandingStill 11-04-2005 03:20 AM

You went mental at me one time from not emailing La Quiete and asking them what their lyrics meant. Water under the bridge though. Oh and SunnyDayAM, Love Like...Electrocution have an EP which you won't be able to find and a self-titled full length.

an0therface 11-04-2005 03:43 AM

I have LLE's ep "She Was Red Hot", I just soulseeked it up.

StandingStill 11-04-2005 04:24 AM
