I do like songs like 5 magiks, take no prisoners, and holy wars but the tone and amps sound much better on TSHF.

Jev 09-07-2005 01:18 PM

Have you heard the remastered version of the RIP album?

Re-mastered version?

Does anyone have this? Is it a great improvement on the original?

I personally like the tone, if the guitars were just a little more defined. I love that raw and brutal thrash sound.

MAthiAS 09-07-2005 01:22 PM
I prefer the new album to rust in peace actually. It really is a great thrash record and has a great sound to it. I love Dave and Chris' guitar tones. I still say that countdown to extinction was their best though IMO.
TSHF isn't thrash; its got 3 thrash songs.

Remastered RIP sucks, because they completely ruined Five Magics.

lightningmetal666 09-07-2005 01:27 PM
Have you heard the remastered version of the RIP album?
Actually no I haven't. I only have the regular version of it. I got it about 2 years ago and I thought it was pretty rockin' until I got TSHF. The first and third tracks sound so huge and loud.

RustedPieces 09-07-2005 01:47 PM

They also ruined Take No Prisoners, the vocals are sooo much better on the original.

Father_Jack 09-07-2005 01:49 PM

Can anyone upload anything from the re-mastered RIP so I can see what they did with it?

p.s the demo version of holy wars is pretty cool, but not as good as studio.

Five Magics is the only one I've heard off the remastered, and its so bad, I wouldn't want to hear the rest of the album :(

I'll upload Holy wars for you, I haven't got the time to upload the full album right now.

Muchas gracias.

I thought it was exactly the same when I first heard the drums come in. Its ok but it sounds a bit weird. Original > Remaster > Demo

I'm undecided on the vocals.

fatbandit 09-07-2005 02:18 PM

I only have the remastered

Anyone got the original Five Magics or TNP for me to see how ruined these are?

(I quite like this Five Magics and TNP  )

Don't ask what you can do for your country. Ask what your country can do for you!

N.P. - Take no Prisoners
/duh

Jev 09-07-2005 02:51 PM

Hmm, I see how FM is different, perhaps if you keep the original guitar bass and vox and add the remastered drums it'd be pretty neat.

fatbandit 09-07-2005 02:55 PM

So what did Dave do to remaster them?

Redo the singing and backing vox, as well as bass (I can't tell guitarwise)?

Seems a bit extreme.

:smash:

Jev 09-07-2005 03:01 PM

I think he re-did everything. Aah, I think that's what Ellefson and Menza helped out on.

Darkness 09-07-2005 03:01 PM

Good name guys.

Father_Jack 09-07-2005 03:02 PM
I think he re-did everything. Aah, I think that's what Ellefson and Menza helped out on.
I can't belive he re-did everything. The guitars sound exactly the same on Holy Wars remaster and original.

fatbandit 09-07-2005 03:04 PM

The basic frame of the songs (I guess guitars) is the same methinks

However, its still Ellefson etc playing on the remaster then?

Yes they did, The original is 1000000 times better. Tornado of souls sounds exactly the same which is good. Holy wars sounds great, Hangar 18 is better, Take no prisoners sucks compared to the old one.

Jev 09-07-2005 03:15 PM
I can't belive he re-did everything. The guitars sound exactly the same on Holy Wars remaster and original.
Ithink using a computer can only remaster something to a certain point, take KIMB for example. He re-did it to get the TSHF quality.

fatbandit 09-07-2005 03:18 PM

So its not remastered, its re-recorded?

:smash:

Jev 09-07-2005 03:25 PM
So its not remastered, its re-recorded?

:smash:
I really don't know for sure, I could be spouting a load of crap but it sounds like he re-recorded everything I mean the lyrics are different in places and his voice is different.

Is that the re-mastered Holy Wars?

Apocalyptic Raids 09-07-2005 04:33 PM

He didn't re-record everything, but some of the master tapes were missing for Rust In Peace.

firemoth12 09-07-2005 04:43 PM

Am I the only one who thinks the remastered Holy Wars sounds better than the original?? (I don't know about the rest of the songs.)

It's just so much clearer...you can actually hear the snare. I don't see why people have problems with it.

RustedPieces 09-07-2005 05:40 PM

I don't have problems with the Holy Wars remaster, but the ones where he redid the vocals are horrible.

Themadhatter 09-07-2005 05:53 PM

I'll agree in that the Take No Prisoners remaster blows in full. It's 100% ****. Having listened to the originals for going on 6 years now, I'm just not into these remasters. I've grown so accustom to hearing the little blips in recordings and such. To take them out is just unorthodox!

MAthiAS 09-07-2005 06:32 PM

Someone upload the remastered TNP for me, for favor.

Deconstruction 09-07-2005 06:58 PM

Hangar 18 has a weird video......IMO

/just thought I would put that out there but the song is good

Dude3 09-07-2005 07:06 PM

Can somebody upload the original "Take No Prisoners" for me? I've only heard the remastered.

RustedPieces 09-07-2005 07:37 PM

There.

clairvoyant 09-07-2005 07:40 PM

In my opinion every 90s Megadeth album was made worse with these remasters.

Peace Sells and SFSGSW are far better now, however.

willis2441 09-07-2005 08:33 PM
I think he re-did everything. Aah, I think that's what Ellefson and Menza helped out on.
no i think menza was gone when he did the remasters,im not sure though

denboy 09-07-2005 08:35 PM

I still hold on to my opinion that the remaster of Holy Wars is absolutely godly, and made the best song in the world better
