No, I'm not being sarcastic. I'm not calling Moon a bad drummer either. The Who > Me. I'm just making the point that most people learn an instrument, and they either get to a certain point and stop, or keep learning. Moon had to teach himself how to play drums every time they recorded an album. You'd at least think alot of musicians would keep their instruments on hand. If anything, it's a compliment. Imagine teaching yourself to drum like THAT, many times over. Amazing.

David Bowie has to keep a lyric sheet in front of him, he can't remember all his songs anymore.
I dunno I'm a bit skeptical of this, it just seems to weird (not that moon wasn't) meh, whatever. I see what you mean though :thumb:

Paranoidd 08-31-2004 10:32 AM

I read it on a site, which I can't find. But this article is along similar lines:
im pretty sure theres to original members and then the lead singer is the old lead singers brother

David Bowie has to keep a lyric sheet in front of him, he can't remember all his songs anymore.
Well he's written like over 200 songs, so I think that's more than excusable. ;)

But I didn't notice him using a lyric sheet when I saw him.

jpj 08-31-2004 03:24 PM

at my school we just got our yearbooks from last year today, and on the cover was the name of a ton of classic rock bands like zepp, the beatles, bob dylan, black sabbath along with some newer stuff like dmb and radiohead. But I guarantee 90% of the yearbook staff has only heard iron man and was like "yeah sabbath rules!". What do you guys think about that?

jpj 08-31-2004 03:37 PM

thats what i was trying to figure out. probably cuz all the popular kids(basically thats who makes up the yearbook staff) thought it eould be all hip or some ****

No, read Keith Moon's biography. He had taken lessons, and he kept a 4 piece at his house.

There are tons of rumors about him, most not true.

Badmoon 08-31-2004 04:04 PM

He probably rehearses the songs for a particular night beforehand, and uses the lyric sheets for recording sessions.

Or something.

Hehe Spinal Tap, I worship that movie.

And yes, Joe Perry is a great guitarist. Good riff writer. Plus Dream On is a brilliant song.

themightyquinn23 08-31-2004 06:42 PM

Great guitarist, but he isn't underrated.

Woodstock 08-31-2004 06:42 PM

He's just rated

Against Miik! 08-31-2004 06:42 PM

When was the last time he was mentioned here or in the guitar forum. Or even Aerosmith in general?

Woodstock 08-31-2004 06:44 PM

I think I saw a thread about him once.

themightyquinn23 08-31-2004 06:44 PM

Heh, Aerosmith is definitely not underrated.

Against Miik! 08-31-2004 06:46 PM
Heh, Aerosmith is definitely not underrated.
How about compared to say...Led Zeppelin? A band they happen to be better than in my opinion.

themightyquinn23 08-31-2004 06:47 PM

Hmm.......Well, I'm not big on blues-rock, so I'm not big on either band. But Steven Tyler>Robert Plant

Woodstock 08-31-2004 06:50 PM
Hmm.......Well, I'm not big on blues-rock, so I'm not big on either band. But Steven Tyler>Robert Plant
In terms of how much they can fit in their mouths.

Mick Jagger>Steven Tyler

themightyquinn23 08-31-2004 06:55 PM

Now up for discussion: Revolver. Because I have been listening to it a lot lately. For No One is a beautiful song. And to think I used to think that song sucked......... :upset:

Against Miik! 08-31-2004 06:56 PM

Didn't you do a review on it? Hmmm well it's not my favortie album.
