Why should APC stop making albums, They are a great band. I dont know why people are giving Emotive such a bad Rep, The reason for the cover songs? I thought it came out at the right time with america involved in politics. The only thing that bothered me was the industrial style of drums on the cd. I just hope if they make another album that Josh Freeze dosent continue that style of drumming.

ilikesatriani 03-01-2005 06:23 PM

I like pretty much everything maynard has done so far. Can't wait to hear some new tool.

Otherside 03-01-2005 06:25 PM

Well...

Maynard is getting old, who knows how much longer he'll be active in the music making industry, and although I love APC, I'd rather him spend time with Tool.

Kage 03-01-2005 06:26 PM

My problem with eMotive (besides the fact that the songs aren't that good) is that they released it soley to shove their political views in my face. Besides, they're covering a bunch of anti-war songs from years ago, so they don't really apply to the current situation, and thus are not relatable. War is not war, it's not that black and white, there are many factors that should go into your standing on a situation. It's naive and blind to just have a position of being generally anti-war.

TrainTakeMeHome 03-01-2005 06:50 PM

Emotive/Amotion just screamed contract completion. Personally I'm happy that Maynard got his APC contract out of the way so he could get to work with Tool. Howerdell also wanted to go off and do a solo album.

Because Maynard is old and Tool is better. lol.
I only say that because I know you agree.

This I did not know of. Cool, so now Maynard has no reason not to go full time with Tool. :p I have never really been a fan of APC. To me(Don't flame me for my opinion) but they just seem like a more radio-friendly Tool. I have 13th step, and I was not horribly impressed with it. I've heard most of eMOTIVe, and I was also not too content on the fact that they ruined perhaps my favorite Led Zeppelin song, being When the Levee Breaks. Plus, I couldn't agree with you more, Kage. Rep++

EDIT/ADD-ON: I asked this question in another thread, but I'm impatient, so I shall ask here as well, since it deals with Tool. Can someone fill me in on Danny Carey's interests in the occult?

EDIT V. 3.0:
You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Kage again.
pwned by the Rep Nazi. :upset:

Tool and APC are different styles, So no.

Thirteenth Step is one of my favorites albums, and I also love Mer De Noms. Billy Howerdel is, in the meantime, going to make a solo album, but if they ever do regroup for another CD, I would like them to keep the lineup they had on Thirteenth Step (plus James Iha). eMOTIVe was a complete waste, the only things I liked were the cover for When The Levee Breaks and Counting Bodies....
I never got Amotion, but I bought the Weak and Powerless remix on iTunes, and it was pretty cool. The video footage they included on the DVD is questionable, though. The videos for Judith and 3 Libras are great, but all this Bikini Bandits stuff was really pissing me off. They ruined Thinking Of You with yet another stupid Bikini Bandits video. All in all, if eMOTIVe and Amotion were indeed the last of APC, then they left with a whimper, not a bang, and some very questionable choices.
Still, I love the band, and anything Maynard touches turns to gold. Billy's guitar work throughout was awesome, and he is very underrated. And Josh Freese, the drummer (and busiest studio musician alive) is one of my favorites.

Now, now, let's not get carried away.

But it's true, I love APC and Thirteenth Step blew me away. Still, I can't say I would be too awfully disapointed if Maynard quit APC so he could focus primarily on Tool, since the opposite has been true for quite some time now. How old is Maynard now, anyway?

I hope to see more Tool and APC stuff in the future, regardless.

The JoZ 03-01-2005 08:40 PM

I thought I read somewhere that Maynard might actually be giving up APC to do Tool full time...

I don't know how much validity that has though

While that would be dissapointing, there'd also be a good amount of satisfaction in it as well. Don't know about that, though.

Bikini Bandits: Bad idea, bad videos, but can't say I didn't enjoy watching it. ;)

Maynard will be forty-one this coming April.

Kage 03-01-2005 08:53 PM

I didn't realize he was that old. That's cool, though, he's got plenty of experience and wisdom. I could live without the cross-dressing stuff this time around, though. Maybe age has mellowed him out on that kind of thing. I like his APC "costumes" and some of his Tool make ups were cool, but...

Though i would also like to believe that Maynard would put full time effort into Tool as well, i would have to believe that the success of APC will not be forgotten. He'll definitely try to keep Tool in the music scene, or so i would think, but also try not to forget APC; the fans, success, and ideology that came with it would be too big a loss to just quit.

BlindWriting 03-01-2005 08:58 PM

I'm still kicking myself for not seeing APC live. I've read descriptions of their shows, and they seem awesome.
Still, there's no way I'm missing Tool once their concerts start up.

Kage 03-01-2005 09:00 PM

When one does the math, there's not enough time for Maynard to fit it all in. If they keep putting four or five years in between each album, it seems that the new material might be limited forthcoming.

pigonthewing82 03-01-2005 09:15 PM

Who in here listens to Bill Hicks. It is in my opinion you must listen to him to compleatly take in and understand some Tool songs.

TheSubtleArts 03-01-2005 09:20 PM

I have before

pigonthewing82 03-01-2005 09:25 PM

Hes great there are very few people who make as much sense as him.

Kage 03-01-2005 09:26 PM

I haven't listened to him much, but I'd definately be interested in changing that.

Amen. They need to start working on some more stuff.APC is good with their 4 current albums. If Maynard starts to work more with tool,he'll get double the cash.I hope he does do more Tool.

x the patient x6 03-01-2005 09:39 PM

APC had a good run

but i am not so sure about thier future, theres only so much they can do, and everything seems very unorganized with them, Tool are much more compact and solid and have a more foreseeable future
ok later

pigonthewing82 03-01-2005 09:50 PM

I don't like ACP that much. They have some good songs, but I listen to Tool for the long instrumentals. APC kinda goes against what I listen to them for. I think Maynards time could be better spent with Tool.

How do you know? This could be Tool's last album.

Kill the drama, noone is going to slit thier wrists because Tool decides to not do another album. Excuse someone for not wanting one of thier favorite artists to quit making music.
