I got that bored in school.
lol Really **** bored. |
Is anyone else having trouble logging into the Opeth Lounge on RoadRunner?
When I put my name and password in the prompt, it just comes back up. |
You need to use your email instead.
It was a waste of my time going there anyways. |
So Ghost Reveries has leaked on torrent networks.....
I am no huge Opeth fan, but I do enjoy some of their stuff, so when I saw this I couldn't resist. I've only listened to Ghost of Perdition so far, and I must say I really like the atmosphere of it. His voice and the guitar playing are both top notch, as usual. Anyone else here have it? Opinions? |
Yeah, Ghost of Perdition rules. :) I'm waiting until Aug 30 for the rest of the album, though. Or, that's what I'm saying now, at least.
|
I love the atmosphere. I am listening to mellow clean guitars and softer parts yet it feels like I'm listening to tremelo picked riffs over repetitive blast beats!
It seriously feels like I am listening to black metal at times during this, but it sounds nothing like it. It's blowing my mind. |
well, Mikeal's first thoughts were to make a BM like album, but he dropped that idea.
but maybe he did put some BM riffs in to the album after all. np: Opeth - By The Pain I See In Others. |
Whats your favourite Opeth instrumetal song?
|
Would Patterns in the Ivy count?
Guys, I'm really having trouble with this... I've listend to the Grand Conjuration... And something about it seemed off... I'm not sure... So I'm wandering whether I should listen the Ghost of Perdition, or wait until the record comes out... Is the G.o.P that was posted good enough to listen to without wasting my first time hearing it? |
There was a very poor quality version of the Grand Conjuration released, you might be hearing that. There has since been released a good quality version of both it and the Ghost of Perdition, which you can find if you scroll back a few pages on this thread. :)

Yeah, I've heard the good version of Conjuration... I guess I'm just saying some of the parts in the song sounded empty for Opeth... Would you reccomend I listen to the Ghost now, or wait for the record? |
wait for the record, and once you have it, listen a time or 5 to the entire album
progressive music takes a time to grow on you, trust me ;) |
Hmm... Did I come off as an Prog newbie? I've been listening to Opeth for years, I'm not new to them... I was just saying Conjuration didn't blow my mind like they usually do... But from what i hear, Ghost is incredible :thumb:
|
sorry dude, I can't smell how long you've been an Opeth or prog fan.
I was just saying it. I've heard the poor version of tGC and a bit of GoP, but I'm waiting for the album now. no more leaks or prereleased stuff for me anymore. I'll let the album surprise me, when I have the real thing in my hands :) |

but the temptation is always so big :(
but for the love of music, I will be patient. np: Anekdoten - Harvest anyone likes these guys? they have some Opeth sounding accoustic parts form time to time, and Mikeal likes these guys too. They're prog/post rock though :) |
The temptation is so big! I'm dying to hear GoP... Some of you guys have said it's incredible. Is it new sounding? But still carries the great Opeth traits?
|

progressive music takes a time to grow on you, trust me ;)
I agree with you completely. All the progressive records I've listened to took me a few listens to really enjoy them. For example, pain of salvation's songs...at first I thought they were ok, next time I started to like it a bit more, then I went and bought the cd and it was OVER...POS one of my new favorite bands. |
Wow I Really like Ghost Of Perdition! :D
|
Well, I downloaded Ghost Reveries.I am deeply disappointed in myself. :upset:
There's no way I was gonna hold out for another month though.I know, IM WEAK!!!WEAK DAMNIT!!No willpower whatsoever. Besides, it's my birthday today. What better birthday gift than the new Opeth cd?I can think of alot of things, like pussy :lol:But musically, Opeth is the best gift. On to the album.Let me just kindly say "Jesus titty fuckin Christ" what an album!!!It is simply AMAZING.Dont judge the album on those 2 songs.I just finished track 4 "Atonement" and already I'll say this is one of their best albums. It's just so awesome.Opeth did not disappoint.I will never doubt these guys ever again. |

Someone wanna put it on yousendit?
/was disappointed in myself after downloading TGC Will power minus minus |
Wow, the whole album is available for download? You guys who download better be buying the real thing as well! I'm pretty confident I can hold off until the 30th. I have the Grand Conjuration to listen to, which has actually grown on me alot already. So in detail, how aweseome is the Reveries?
|
GoP is great, and can only hope that I can resist the temptation of hunting down a leak. I will be buying the album on the first day for sure though.
Blanka Flip, resist if you can. The album will be worth it. |
I just got the album. It's very great, but much different from their usual work.
|
I've listened through the new album a few times now.
It's absolutely brilliant, nice change of direction from Opeth. |
I don't want to hear any of it until I buy it. Are there any soundalike songs?
|
Theres not enough growling on the album.
I find myself yearning for Mikael to just scream more in this album, especially since some of the music is so evil sounding. |
