Could anyone give me any info on the Quicksilver Messenger Service? Album names or something...I know people in here seemed to like them when I used to post more.

Has anyone heard of American English? They're a Beatles cover band from Chicago. They stopped around here last weekend and I went to see them. I recommend checking them out if they ever come around your area. They played around 30 songs. They dressed up in the early black suits, changed into the Seargent Pepper suits, and finished in the Abbey Road clothes. I was jealous of "George." He even had the Magical Mystery Tour Fender that is so awesome.

BigTrav415 10-10-2005 06:00 PM

I've never heard moe. (I had to miss the ABB concert for a fucking soccer game    ), but I'm willing to bet Syd pwns them. Come on, it's Syd Barrett!

/goes to listen to The Gnome

BludgeonySteve 10-10-2005 06:54 PM

That can't be good for the dog. Dogs aren't toys that are there for human's enjoyment!

+ that's a waste of good pot :smoke:

WelcomeToTheMachine 10-10-2005 06:56 PM

lol it wasnt a real waste just because the way she did it, my friend inhaled, then exhaled and let the dog inhale it all, we didnt even force it to.

JonG 10-10-2005 07:29 PM

We get so many days off for Thanksgiving, it's a 4-5 day weekend. And I also get to see Mayall, but it's at a bar, so I can only stay 1 hour :(

BludgeonySteve 10-10-2005 07:31 PM

John Mayall? He's still alive?

Just joking, but he's gotta be super old.

Gah, JonG I've only known you when you had your Willy Wonka avatar. Bring it back!

Lunch 10-10-2005 08:06 PM

Nashville Skyline is cool. That about sums up the last four pages.

And I really like Animals the first time I heard it, for a while I couldn't stop listening to it. Gilmour's solos may seem "distant" or however you describe it, but in a way, that's the point. They aren't supposed to be happy easy-going guitar solos, they're supposed to lash out. The end of Pigs definitely does this. I guess you could see it lacking musically, but that's another that makes it good for me. The music is stripped down and bare, they don't overdo anything or use too much.

Animals' solos rock. They're very mood-invoking. God, Dogs and Pigs... amazing. Oh, but the greatest solo to almost be on the album was back-up guitarist Snowy White's insane solo linking Pigs on the Wing 1 & 2, before Waters dropped it and splits the parts in two. If anyone wants that version, I'll upload it.

Speaking of insane solos, np: Dire Straits - Sultans of Swing  Holy crap, that bit near the end... secks.
