I've got a HTWWW flag type thing, Allmans/moe. poster, Steve Miller/George Thorogood, and a Tom Petty/Black Crowes (I got all these for free because my brother worked at the venue).

I've done various pieces of art that are hanging on my walls
Same here. I have an old drawing from about grade four that I did. We had to take a picture from a magazine and draw it on a larger scale, so I drew this huge picture of a tiger from National Geographic.
Why is it that Dylan sounded oldest on his debut album, and progressively sounded younger and younger throughout his following albums in the 60's? It's strange.
I never really noticed that...I always thought that on Nashville Skyline he sounded like some crooner from the 30's or 40's, but I think that was his intention.
I got 3 Jane's Addiction Posters, 1 Stones, 1 Keith Richards, 1 John Lennon, 1 Jimi Hendrix, 2 Dave Navarro, 1 Incubus, 1 Doors, 1 Grace Slick and 1 Scarface (I ain't no G). I hate empty spaces.

To ThickasaBrick I was wondering that also one day but then I came to the conclusion that its probably production quality.
I wouldn't say it's entirely because of production quality, he just used a strange style of singing earlier in his career...throughout his career he always slightly changed his singing style from album to album. Although if you hear him live he usually changes back to that same style. That's what I hate about Live '75, his singing is too....normal? Definitely too un-Bob Dylanish.

edit- I've got this fairly pathetic attempt at drawing the Tattoo You album cover that I did in grade 6, it's hanging in my room...and people always comment on it. It's not bad, considering I was in Grade 6, but it would be embarressing if I drew it like that now.

I love his singing on Live '75. I still love everything about Live '75. I listened to it yesterday. I don't see how you guys can't like it.

JonG 10-10-2005 04:28 PM

It's pretty good, although I prefer Before the Flood :)

wpah, I spelled it right? I remember you spelling it like that once, but I doubted it, because it's an uncommon way to spell it.

I take it you don't like Nashville Skyline very much...

I like Nashville Skyline. It's a good album. It would be great if it were longer. I have more of a problem with how short it is than the vocals. In fact I like the vocals. They're just so different.

I like the vox on NS...they're very warm, so they suit the music.

np: Bob Dylan - Gates of Eden

thickasabrick 10-10-2005 04:33 PM

I do like Nashville Skykline, it isn't anything close to my favourite album of his, but I listen to it a couple times a month. I just hate Live '75 because he sings basically all my favourite songs of his in that voice.

I don't mind him singing differently on albums, because I get used to the fact that he sings those songs that way...but when he sings a song like Blowin' In The Wind like that it bothers me.

I hope that makes sense.

I'm not a big fan of Blowin' In the Wind on Live '75. One of the weaker tracks on there IMO.

I never understood why people called Animals PF's best album, or PF's most underrated album...I don't find it very enjoyable at all.

JonG 10-10-2005 04:39 PM

I hate PATGOD. All of you made it seem like it was great, I hated it.

Then again, I don't dig much PF.
I never understood why people called Animals PF's best album, or PF's most underrated album...I don't find it very enjoyable at all.
I love Animals. Great lyrically, and great instrumentally. Gilmour shines, and Wright has a few great parts, even though he plays much less of a role on it than he does on most of their other albums. Took a few listens to grow on me. WYWH is my favorite, but Animals is right behind it.

Edit- I just listened to Blowin' in the wind off Live '75, and it really is kind of butchered. Definitely one of the weakest tracks on it, along with Romance in Durango.

Jacaranda 10-10-2005 04:40 PM

Animals took awhile to grow on me but it's my favorite PF album along with Wish You Were Here and Piper at the Gates of Dawn (and maybe Atom Heart Mother, Obscured By Clouds etc..) but other then that I don't really like Pink Floyd.

The thing with Floyd is that their great material truly sounds like Pink Floyd's material...but with Animals it just seems like something any contemporary prog rock band could have done. I dunno.

It took a few listens for NS to grow on me though.

I've heard good things about PATGOD, so I'm going to try to find it next time I go CD shopping. Which won't be for a while, considering I might be going to see Henry Rollins.

thickasabrick 10-10-2005 04:52 PM

I hate listening to Animals. I just plain don't like it. I like the concept, and the lyrics are well-written...but the music is Pink Floyd's worst by far.

Everything Pink Floyd released after the Wall demolishes Animals, musically.

magicbus 10-10-2005 04:56 PM

I don't really like Animals either. I like Gilmour's solo at the end of Pigs, but not much else.

thickasabrick 10-10-2005 04:58 PM

All the music on Animals just seem to distant, Gilmour's solos are usualy so touching, on Animals they seem so impersonal.

JonG 10-10-2005 04:59 PM

Comfortably Numb and Time solos are ones that come to the top of my head when thinking Gilmour.

Illmatic 10-10-2005 05:02 PM

I also like his lead work on "Shine On You Crazy Diamond", which tends to go overlooked.

robo2448 10-10-2005 05:04 PM
I also like his lead work on "Shine On You Crazy Diamond", which tends to go overlooked.
I don't think that's overlooked. Amazing work though. Definitely some of his best guitarwork. I actually think the solos on Dogs are overrated. The end solo on Pigs is much better.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 10-10-2005 05:07 PM

It doesn't go overlooked but yes, it is fantastic^

I agree, Gilmour's solos on Animals are impersonal and boring.

I've listened to a few of their songs (my gf likes them for some reason :upset: ) and they opened for the Allman Brothers Band when I saw the ABB in August, and that's more than I have ever wanted to hear.
