True...

"Last night I had a dream about you...
in this dream I'm dancing right beside you,
And it looked like everyone was having fun,
A kind of feeling I've waited so long."

That's basically as far as I go into electronic stuff.

Great soundtrack though.

Um holy crap, second page-ness. Proof that R&M has been slow as of late. :(

So, I'm listening to Sol Invictus right now. (Thx Pete, even though you won't see this, because you never come here any more, phag) It's just really kick back music, all acoustic insturments, and these very "Jim Morrison"-esque vocals. Everything about the band is just oozing Paganism, which is also a very refreshing element, considering the monotonous subjects most of my music is about. :p I really like it, so I think I'm going to make an attempt at jacking some from soulseek. :)

EDIT: Lame attempt at a thread bump.

Shadows 09-26-2005 07:09 PM

I just finished listening to Slipknot! Man, the original version of Danger - Keep Away is so weird. :(

Dr. Jake Destructo 09-26-2005 07:16 PM

Wait, did Slipknot do the original, or did some band do a cover of it? I like Slipknot's version, but I've not heard the other one. Who's it by, and what's different about it?

Whore my new review, leave some comments. This is my first non track by track review, so I want to find out how I did.

I bought the re-release of Vol.3, which came with 8 bouns tracks, one of which was the original version of D-KA. The song was originally by Slipknot, but the unedited version was 8 minutes long and had a whole lot of crazy crap thrown into it. It's very weird, but very cool. It had these odd tribal sounds and some unsual Rastafarian-type talking in it. I like it. The version that ended up on the first version of the album was basically a 3-4 minute clip taken out of the 8 minute original.

Shattered_Future 09-26-2005 07:46 PM

I thought one of the weirdest songs Slipknot did was Tattered And Torn...that was really creepy. Especially at 12 at night when the lights from outside are reflecting shadows on your wall...

Shadows 09-26-2005 07:50 PM

Much of Slipknot's stuff was creepy. They were so much darker than other nu metal bands. They're also very underrated - people give them a lot of crap, but I think they were always better than the "real metalheads" gave them credit for. Maybe it's because they were the band that got me into metal.

Yeah, the songs Scissors and Prosthetics are pretty creepy. Just read this little exerpt from Prosthetics.

"All the doors are locked all the windows shut, keep in mind, I watch you."

Scary!

Those quotes are far darker:

"Storm a funeral scream bewitched by funeral underworlds,"

Shadows 09-26-2005 08:06 PM

^^^ What was that? I found it quite funny.

RiceMonster 09-26-2005 08:14 PM

I'm pretty anti-Slipknot myself, but I leave people who like them alone. I don't like any nu-metal anyway

Iron Man 09-26-2005 08:18 PM

I don't mind if people like the band, the only thing I get angry about is if people go around saying "HAIL ME, FOR I LISTEN TO SLIPKNOT, THE HEAVIEST BAND EVAR!!!1"

Jom 09-26-2005 08:21 PM

Their stuff from Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. is pretty bizarre material. I really like the basslines in a couple songs. But man, the singer they had around that time was putrid.

I know a few of these kids. They wear Slipknot shirts every other day, and they think they're so hXc, just because they listen to Slipknot. I still like Slipknot though. :p

Agreed, or when they call them death metal. That's when I go nuts.

Colsefni was a terrible vocalist. Corey Taylor is better, although the songwriting took a turn for the worse when he entered the picture.

I'm generally very anti-nu metal myself, so it's always a wonder why I'm so interested in Slipknot. Obviously I don't think they're the heaviest death metal band in the world or anything, but I like a lot of what they've put out anyway. Their s/t was awful at any rate.

The S/T is the ones the fanboys worship anyway. :p

On a random note, today was the first day I've taken a picture of myself in 2-3 years. Which probably just makes me lame. Aha.

Is anyone else going to watch the Martin Scorsese - Bob Dylan documentary? I'm starting to really get into Dylan, and Scorsese is one of my favorite directors, so this is perfect for me.

magicbus 09-26-2005 09:06 PM

I just watched it. It was pretty cool.
