It seems that the only prerequisite for good Blues is angst
I think any very strong emotion makes for a great blues song (with the proper songwriting skills). Pride and Joy by SRV isn't necessarily driven by angst...it's actually quite the opposite.

Glitterati 06-20-2005 06:51 PM
Don't you ever feel like a Classic Rock island in a sea of Metalheads?
Yes, actually. It's nice to know there's a refuge in an endless mess of black and death metal (which I can't stand).

np: Syd Barrett - Golden Hair. Creepy song.

Walrus Gumboot 06-20-2005 06:57 PM

I just don't have enough pent-up anger for the black metal :upset:

robo2448 06-20-2005 06:59 PM

I don't know why people listen to music to get them angry

thickasabrick 06-20-2005 07:00 PM
I just don't have enough pent-up anger for the black metal :upset:
For some reason I can only write happy songs. And no one likes happy songs these days, so I try to write songs what are at least somewhat depressing...but it just never works. I think I'm just about the opposite of Chris Martin when it comes to writing songs.

edit- this also sucks because the only two music scenes where I live are emo/hardcore (whatever you wanna call it) and metal.

Walrus Gumboot 06-20-2005 07:01 PM

I think it is the Testosterone

EDIT: Write whatever you feel like writing, make them like it

robo2448 06-20-2005 07:02 PM

Maybe writing angry music makes them feel manly and compensates for something else ;).

White_heat 06-20-2005 07:04 PM

Because they have so much anger inside, with all the issues that they have in their lives. Like how much they hate emo.

That would explain the drummer/guitarist/rythim guitarist in the band my little sister plays for. It's also kinda funny that most girls find black metal unattractive, maybe someone should tell them

Robo- 665, your next one better be evil

robo2448 06-20-2005 07:07 PM

I already posted 666 in the Beatles thread. I forgot about it :upset: It wasn't very

Jacaranda 06-20-2005 07:13 PM

I read somewhere that they found out the number wasn't 666.

/doesn't know anything about but that.

White_heat 06-20-2005 07:17 PM

I think its 666 becuase in bible simbolism 6=evil 3=very so 6 3 times is very evil.

Badmoon 06-20-2005 07:24 PM

So I just saw Easy Rider; quite a boring movie.

thickasabrick 06-20-2005 07:33 PM

I've never actually seen Easy Rider. I was hoping it was wonderful and it would be a glorious day when I finally got to see it. It'll be on TV sometime.

robo2448 06-20-2005 07:36 PM

Same with me. I guess not :upset:

Jack Nicholson was pretty cool in it.

The let down almost ruined my night, however I managed to find my copy of The Big Lebowski. So I watched that.

Broken Arrow 06-20-2005 07:40 PM

I finally have time to come here. So much exams and working.

Anyways I was umpiring a baseball game on the weekend and the coach looked exactly like Country Joe Macdonald. He was such a douche though.

robo2448 06-20-2005 07:41 PM

You haven't been here in a while.

White_heat 06-20-2005 07:42 PM

You umpire? How old are you?

jpj 06-20-2005 07:42 PM
So I just saw Easy Rider; quite a boring movie.
I saw most of it. It was boring, than got good when Jack Nicholson appeared, than he got beat to death and it was boring again. Dennis Hopper was good in it, though.

Broken Arrow 06-20-2005 07:45 PM
You umpire? How old are you?
15.

w00t

New shows are up on nugs. Lotsa Grateful Dead up.

My favourite song in the Grateful Dead picture was Eyes of the World, it was clever.

That movie is amazing.

I find I'm just hanging out here, Alt/Indie, and punk (just for the Clash thread). The pit bores me 99% of the time.

ATM 06-20-2005 07:49 PM

That's because it's the same recycled jokes over and over.

robo2448 06-20-2005 07:51 PM

Don't forget the pointless spam ;)

Broken Arrow 06-20-2005 07:56 PM

So I pretty pysched cause I'm getting a Dunlop Cry Baby.

magicbus 06-20-2005 07:58 PM
I read it was actually 616.
I did too. That means that all those old biker guys and metal guys have incorrect tattoos. :p

Did anybody else see the Bonnaroo DVD? A lot of those bands are really cool. The Burning Spear, Primus, and moe. songs were really awesome.
