No.

And to whoever asked earlier/is about to ask, go and see Bob Dylan for approximately $40 instead of CSN for about $30. I know that some people say Dylan's voice isn't any good at all anymore, but who goes to a Dylan gig for his singing quality? So yeah, go to Dylan.

/omniscient
I asked that too... but I have no clue where the post went I don't see it... or I'm going crazy but also Bob Dylan is indoors while CSN is outside and I like outside concerts alot more in summer.

thickasabrick 06-20-2005 05:39 PM

I'd go to both. I'd pay $40 just to watch Dylan stand up stage, strum a chord and say hello, then walk off. That's just how much I love him. I'd really wanna see CSN too, I heard they haven't decayed (is that the right word) as much as Dylan has.

Rusted is a better choice.

I agree, I feel the same way about Dylan. I've heard his shows pretty much suck now and his voice is shot and he can't play harmonica anymore from smoking pot. I've also heard that he rarely plays the guitar because of arthritis. But I'd still see him because he is my favorite living musician. CSN would probably be a better show, so unless you're a Dylan fan like me or Thickasabrick, see them.

np- Donovan- Sailing Homeward- Great song

BludgeonySteve 06-20-2005 05:50 PM

I love him music, but if he's in such bad shape that he can't play well, I don't want to go.

thickasabrick 06-20-2005 05:54 PM
Rusted is a better choice.
Burnt out might actually be the best choice. It's a shame.

I hate to start a drug discussion...but does anyone know what drugs Dylan actually did? I read a quote by him somewhere saying (this is from memory so it's probably not exact) "Marijuana, hash and opium aren't drugs, they just bend your mind a little. Everyone needs to bend their mind every once in a while." It was something like that, so obviously he took part in pot and opium. I always figured he was into heroin as well, although I just assumed.

thickasabrick 06-20-2005 05:59 PM

He always had trouble remembering lyrics (sometimes entire verses) from a lot of his songs in the 60s and 70's, mainly because a lot of them had like a dozen or more verses. I couldn't imagine him attempting some of those songs now.

Subterranean Homesick Blues would probably be enough to wear him out.

robo2448 06-20-2005 06:04 PM

Love and Theft isn't bad and Time Out of Mind is excellent. Oh Mercy from 1989 is also fantastic. Anything beats Empire Burlesque though.

/Another hopeless Dylan fanboy

As for drugs, everyone knows he probably did more pot than anyone else ever. I think he did acid too, but not sure. I'm getting his autobiography from the library soon though, so I'll find out. It's called Chronicles if you're interested.

thickasabrick 06-20-2005 06:14 PM

I bought Chronicles the day it came out. He doesn't mention anything about drug use at all in it though, except that he shared an apartment with a man who was an "occasional opium smoker" in his early Greenwhich Village Days. He tells tons of fascinating stories though, things that you would never have found out about him too. It's actually called Chronicles Volume I, so I'm hoping he comes out with another one sometime soon. It probably took him his whole life to recollect enough stories to put into a book.

edit- He really jumps around though, I think he completely skipped out the last half of the sixties and went straight to like the eighties, then back to the early sixties then seventies etc etc. I doubt he remembers the latter part of the sixties. In the new Readers Digest there is a very long and interesting interview with Joni Mitchell, who said she never did drugs up until she was on tour with Bob Dylan...and they paid her in cocaine.

Everyone did acid in the 60's so yes Dylan did, too.

Walrus Gumboot 06-20-2005 06:15 PM

I can't wiat, I'm seeing him Thursday. Aperantly he is only doing keyboard now, with the occasional harmonica solo

I think MYR's distored avatar looks the funniest

thickasabrick 06-20-2005 06:23 PM

The only avatar that is distorted for me is Rock Not Rolls. Is mine distorted?

Walrus Gumboot 06-20-2005 06:24 PM
The only avatar that is distorted for me is Rock Not Rolls. Is mine distorted?
Yes, muchso. It is a huge blob of green with the occasional checkerboard square

This reminds me of the great crash of Jan '05

White_heat 06-20-2005 06:27 PM

No.

Any one like them?

thickasabrick 06-20-2005 06:28 PM
No.

I'm confused. Are you saying No in response to my question? Or is No a band, and you are wondering if we like them?

And how do I fix my avatar?

robo2448 06-20-2005 06:29 PM
No.

And my avatar was pretty distorted before too.

White_heat 06-20-2005 06:31 PM

BludgeonySteve 06-20-2005 06:31 PM
The only avatar that is distorted for me is Rock Not Rolls. Is mine distorted?

how's mine now? I just re-uploaded it.
Your's looks fine. BTW who is it in your avatar?

And Them is a band :amaze:.

thickasabrick 06-20-2005 06:32 PM
how's mine now? I just re-uploaded it.
It's normal now.

edit- oh and I've never heard Them.

And get this...today I had to write my final exam for Biology. The test was a hundred multiple choice questions....the first question was: Mr. Schellenberg (our teacher) has a long name, how do you spell it? Three of the choices were variations of the name Schellenberg, and the last one was "it". I didn't know what to choose!

George Thorogood. :)

Is Them another stupid name that is meant to cause confusion like Yes or Who?

thickasabrick 06-20-2005 06:35 PM

The Who?

Oh, you must mean The Band. :p

I wish my Bio tests were actually spelling tests.

My bio teacher could have pulled that, her name is Abduhayoughlou (ab-dool-hi-o-yoo)

robo2448 06-20-2005 06:38 PM
I wish my Bio tests were actually spelling tests.
Yep, I actually got a 90 on my bio final last year, but during the year, I got a 1/6 on a quiz and a 50 on a test. The 50 was the second lowest test score my teacher had ever had. The worst was from the kid who sat behind me and copied off me- 44 . Serves him right for copying off me.

For some reason I always thought George Thorogood was black

BludgeonySteve 06-20-2005 06:40 PM

He plays the blues like a black guy but writes the the blues like a white guy.

robo2448 06-20-2005 06:40 PM

Right :thumb:

edit- I think I like Hittin' The Note by the Allmans just as much as Filmore East or Eat A Peach. It's very bluesy.

thickasabrick 06-20-2005 06:43 PM
He plays the blues like a black guy but writes the the blues like a white guy.
That's a good way to sum it up. Although not a lot of whiteys can write the blues like blacks can.

Edit- Robo...you are nearing a positively evil postcount!

Walrus Gumboot 06-20-2005 06:45 PM

It seems that the only prerequisite for good Blues is angst
