Between The Buried And Me and Prayer For Cleansing are from Charlotte, that's all I know about that scene.
i saw between the buried and me in hs at tremont. they played with horse the band. i went with these scene kids. they gave me a hard time for getting stoned before the show

mitch, i have not

illmitch 01-29-2011 05:42 PM
there were a lot of kids that thought they were punks in sc but they were all just fashion punks. they were just immature kids with skateboards and mohawks. that's not what punk is about, it's not the way you dress it's just a way of thinking. the dead kennedys said it best "punk ain't no religous cult, punk means thinkin for yourself" that's all it means and that's all it's ever meant.
kinda reminds me of the crass song punk is dead

"see the velvet zippies in their bondage gear
the social elite with safety pins in their ear
i watch and understand that it don't mean a thing
the scorpions might attack, but the system's stole the sting"

and if you like the smiths, you should really check that book out...he analyzes morrissey's literary influence very in-depth, and shows examples of where he's made reference to them in his lyrics. a lot of his lyrics are literary puns based on plays and books and quotes from actors he loves.
three 6 mafia
Hell ya. forgot about that. i saw them at one of my friends colleges. On campus show it was sweet. And then I saw the Beastie Boys DJ there. He was amazing.

witchxrapist 01-29-2011 05:43 PM

snowing, bataan death march, and frontlines are pretty much the only bands worth mentioning from my area

and all three are vastly different and never play together

and somehow have really zealous niche followings thanks to the internet, like frontlines is coming back from tour with no bragging rights on monday

my favorite song was

still ridin clean
making cheese
and get my dick sucked

hahaha that's bogus

otherwise how was that?

edit: was that the tour they did with animosity and giants?

illmitch 01-29-2011 05:44 PM

project pat doesn't have a lot of lyrical variety but from a technical standpoint he's a really good rapper, he has great flow

music from my area
samothrace
get up kids
appleseed cast
tech n9ne

Say hello to Heaven 01-29-2011 05:45 PM

illmitch 01-29-2011 05:46 PM

some kid told me that my pants weren't tight enough and that i wasn't punk enough  some people just don't understand any kind of abstract concept i guess. they just zone in on the shallow aspects of it. i guess punk is just the music i can identify with the most, it feels the most cathartic. some of the philosophies in it are stupid like any thing else, but ti's what i can relate to the most.

and that book sounds interesting, i'm reading a jim carroll book right now.

it was a pretty good show. i liked between the buried and me more than horse the band. i don't know if it was that tour. that was the first time i saw people fight dance and i thought it was really stupid. i saw leftover crack at that same venue. a lot of bands play there, it's mostly a hardcore venue it's in charlotte.

witchxrapist 01-29-2011 05:53 PM

my pants were 'too tight' for hardcore kids when i was in high school

niggas hatin on my delias apparel gtfo

illmitch 01-29-2011 05:53 PM

we do get pretty good shows in lawrence

japandroids, la dispute, of montreal, tilly in the wall, ghostface killah off the top of my head

its awesome having shows right at home, its a 10 minute drive for me to the venues any of those guys played at

witchxrapist 01-29-2011 05:55 PM
it was a pretty good show. i liked between the buried and me more than horse the band.
word, was this like 3 years ago? cause i caught btbam w/ horse, animosity, and giants 3 years ago and it was epic. animosity completely upstaged everyone.
that was the first time i saw people fight dance and i thought it was really stupid.
nigga, i'll spinxkick your face off

edit: some crew of pod six hardcore kids jumped a kid at that show though, that was gay.

and a cop shot/killed outside the venue during the show, and everyone came out after btbam's set and there were cops everywhere, shit was nuts. lol philly

Say hello to Heaven 01-29-2011 05:55 PM

Tennessee has Bonaroo at least.

SlightlyEpic 01-29-2011 05:57 PM

only show here i've ever wanted to go to was the gy!be show

which ruled, but other than that bands don't seem to want to come anywhere near here

Angmar 01-29-2011 05:57 PM

We get lots of good shows here, I love living in the city because it's only a 15 minute bus ride to most of the venues, which I ride for free anyway.

witchxrapist 01-29-2011 05:57 PM
only show here i've ever wanted to go to was the gy!be show

it's because you're so insecure

blockhead 01-29-2011 05:57 PM

leftover crack is surprisingly big in sc. i saw them once in sc and once in dallas. the sc show was okay. it was fun cause i went with my two best friends who also really loved the band. it would have been better if we hadn't smoked a bunch of crack before and during it and got really drunk. nothing is really fun when you're coming down from crack.

the dallas show was a lot more fun, everyone i met there was cool. i met the band after both shows which was cool.
word, was this like 3 years ago? cause i caught btbam w/ horse, animosity, and giants 3 years ago and it was epic. animosity completely upstaged everyone.
i think longer than that man. it was my junior year of high school so 2006-2007

shortz 01-29-2011 05:59 PM

We get some good shows up here, can't complain sometimes. Other times when my fav bands go to Toronto or Calgary/Vancouver I'm like "gahdamnit".

But living here is better than Regina or Thunder Bay, I would assume.

SlightlyEpic 01-29-2011 06:00 PM
it's because you're so insecure
they are put off by my insecurity or i am put off by my insecurity?
i think longer than that man. it was my junior year of high school so 2006-2007
really? i could've sworn that btbam animosity tour was fall of 2007

idk, so many good shows that year regardless.

Angmar 01-29-2011 06:01 PM

I almost went to Hongcouver for a show but then I didn't!

adb 01-29-2011 06:01 PM

I think the only place that gets better shows than so cal is studio seven in WA

blockhead 01-29-2011 06:01 PM

i went to that crossroads music festival with my dad. eric clapton, bb king, james taylor, zz top, jeff beck. it was boring as shit i fell asleep. it was just a bunch of niggers playing blues for 6 hours

witchxrapist 01-29-2011 06:02 PM

also, brent, new york gets awesome shows

and my area and philly get ballin shows if you're into skramz

i wish the metal scene wasn't so dead in philly, but they never book shows anymore because of fauxcore kids fighting

Say hello to Heaven 01-29-2011 06:03 PM
