I really like Simon and Garfunkel, I need more of their albums.
What's Dub Side of the Moon?
Ive seen that before, im guessing that its dub versions of DSotM songs.
And Dub is some kind of mix between reagge and rap, not sure.

thickasabrick 06-19-2005 03:57 PM

Alright so I just found out that now the metal subgenre "doom metal" has subgenres of it's own, two being "funeral doom" and "drone doom."

Now as classic rock fans (although there are probably also metal fans in here), don't you think it's a little extreme to have to say "I'm a fan of funeral doom metal, although I don't mind some drone doom metal."

White_heat 06-19-2005 04:03 PM

I don't know the diffrence between the two, but im guessing its a small one. Metal fans seem to have a really odd obsession with classifing their music. I mean how many "genre" threads are there?

thickasabrick 06-19-2005 04:06 PM

There's been a request for Tommy in the Alt and Indie YSI thread...I'm sure someone has it here that they could post. Jacaranda is asking for it, and he's posted a lot of good albums that I've downloaded, unfortunately I don't own Tommy.

I might be able to do Tommy in a while.

Lunch 06-19-2005 04:33 PM

I can't upload whole albums at a time, and I don't feel like downloading the thing that will let me create a zip file right now.

I need to get in the Alt. and Indie thread, I've only been in there 2-3 times, and not in the last week or so.

lunch998 06-19-2005 04:48 PM

I've gotten some great stuff from there, as a lot of people here have.

robo2448 06-19-2005 04:49 PM

switching back and forth between accounts still?

lunch998 06-19-2005 04:50 PM

Yea, it's entertaining. On the other one I have no responsibility to be an upstanding user.

Glitterati 06-19-2005 05:37 PM

Tommy is now up. Unfortunately, my computer was mean and messed up the song titles on the second disc....and I'm too lazy to fix it.

thickasabrick 06-19-2005 05:55 PM

Yeah how come the R&M YSI thread is probably the worst in the forums. I usually go to Other Music or Alt n Indie.

Badmoon 06-19-2005 06:11 PM

Because it's to setup and strict; you're not aloud to even upload or request albums, only songs.

Woodstock 06-19-2005 06:18 PM
Do you know the defintion of pretentious? Do you know who John Lennon is?
Notice the smilie. I just said that because you only talked about him insulting the Dead.

Ah yes, that's what I don't like about it. No albums. That never occured to me.

White_heat 06-19-2005 06:35 PM

Well can't you get albums from "Trading albums over aim" thread?

Walrus Gumboot 06-19-2005 06:38 PM

Don't you ever feel like a Classic Rock island in a sea of Metalheads?

Dub Side of the Moon is a reggae (Technically Dub, but it sounds like reggaee to me *shrug*) cover of Pink Floyd's done by Easy Star's All Stars. It is basically the entire album put to a reggae beat and a with a little more funk. It plays off of the rhythms that are kind of implied in the original (Couldn't you imagine "money" with a reggae beat anyway?)

White_heat 06-19-2005 06:39 PM

Yeah I feel like I can only post here a lot of the time

I also post on The Black Sabbath thread.

But thats just R&M

robo2448 06-19-2005 06:42 PM

I only post in this thread, the Pink Floyd thread, and the Beatles thread usually. As well as the sports forum.

Walrus Gumboot 06-19-2005 06:48 PM

It's also a little mind blowing when you realize really unlikeable people (such as my drivers ed teacher) like the same kind of music as you, and have always liked it, and liked it longer than you. I have so many CR fan teachers, not to mention my parents, and it feels kind of wierd, because with most other genres you are supposed to be rebelling against your parent's music, not stealing their vinyl. I mean, what kind of parents are into their kids listening to rap or metal or punk and other such angry teenager music? What does this say about us?

White_heat 06-19-2005 06:53 PM

It says that we are so much better than punks and metal heads

Just kidding, it really says nothing, and its not the first time that happens, my dad liked the same jazz, and afro cuban jazz that my grandpa liked, and I also like that music.

Illmatic 06-19-2005 06:56 PM

I don't think it says anything, really.

Badmoon 06-19-2005 07:03 PM
Well can't you get albums from "Trading albums over aim" thread?
Because that takes time for both the one uploading it and the one recieving it.

MalcolmYoungRock 06-20-2005 05:10 PM

ALRIGHT! DISTORTED AVATARS!

Oh, it feels good to be back home.

Woodstock 06-20-2005 05:24 PM

Is mine distorted?

Woodstock 06-20-2005 05:30 PM
No.

And to whoever asked earlier/is about to ask, go and see Bob Dylan for approximately $40 instead of CSN for about $30. I know that some people say Dylan's voice isn't any good at all anymore, but who goes to a Dylan gig for his singing quality? So yeah, go to Dylan.

/omniscient
That was me, and I think Bob Dylan is famous for his voice, in a Neil Young sorta way. Either way, I would probably go to CSN.

I talked to my friend and he said that Dylan wasn't really playing any of his old classics and a lot of new stuff.

But then again, he could be lying and it could be the best show of your life.

So might as well take the chance, eh?

ATM 06-20-2005 05:34 PM

As much as I love Dylan, I'd probably pick CSN. My sister saw them and said they were amazing.

That's exactly what I heard.
