I'm guilty of downloading. I have found countless bands due to it, too. But, I buy A LOT of music. Most of the money I get goes to that.

I don't see why someone wouldn't want to hunt down and buy music they like.

You have to consider the money that goes to the label to be able to release the cd, though.
