Yesterday I worked 12 hours....I wish I had more free time..... :/
|
I am learning, like only a true luthier can, why musical instruments are not created using boxes, eye screws, and yarn.
|
I'm pissed. After a great weekend with my old school friends, I need to go back to school.
|
I went to bass central 2 days ago...I think they ripped me off :( paid $30 for some Rotosound strings....
|
So, our gig last night kicked major ***.
We totally set up a truss and 4 different colored Par-56s. We mic'ed the drums and ran the amps and vocals through a $2000 mixer that my drummer has, and out into a PA. All equipment used was our band's. All-in-all, probably just because of the lighting, I feel like I'm in a real band. Also, we made $150, guaranteed, and then our tip jar pulled in over $100. Not bad for a little 3-hour shindig. I just hope we don't become a party band. Eek! |

Put that in your adress line. :p |
Good evening all.

aw come on man, you have to think that from the beginning. if you take yourself seriously, which it sounds like you guys are, then other people will too. |

I have taken us seriously, but at the beginning, I felt very amateur. After last night, I feel like a professional band. |
awesome. sounds nice. what kind of a band is it again?
|
hello.
|
Hey guys.
What's new? |
www.forum.ca
That's what^ I've been nominated to attend... |
Eminem is awesome. :D
|
good afternoon all (its afternoon for me anyways....).
i made an important decision about what i want next. |
Gear-wise?
I wish I could make that decision. |
|
Gear-wise?
I wish I could make that decision.
yup. im basically gonna make a mark hoppus sig bass from warmoth. |
Why not just buy a Hoppus sig? What else are you making different?
|
yeah really, why?
|
eh, not sure. mostly 'cause i want it to be my own. and i like making things.
plus, it will look really cool. i've already set to designing the waterslide sticker i'm gonna put on the headstock. |
is it really yours...if you are biulding it almost exaclty like an existing model
|
:p yes, it is really mine. i made it and paid for it, therefore it is mine...
|
seems a bit unecessary for me, paying a whole lot more to make a bass that comes pre made
|
So, I ripped off the pickguard on my acoustic, and there is a gluey substance under it.
Ideas as to how to take it off without ruining the laquer finish? |
Goo-Gone?
|
yup.
Goo-Gone?
Yeah, it's been working decently so far. Now it's just a thin layer that is incredible tough to get up. I'm actually thinking about sanding it down and staining it traslucent blue. That would be seXXXy. |
wont mineral spirits work as well? or will that hurt the finish?
goo gone works better |
Is it going to be pink?
probably. shell pink with competion stripes (the ones on the arm contour) but i'm not sure about the color of those yet. right now, i'm just dieing for an "obnoxious bass" so thats the first color i thought of. |
goo gone works better
Yeah, I figured it would. Why did they even bother putting on the pickguard? The finish was equally protected with the amount of glue involved. Crimeny. I doubt if I can finish this in another 15 minutes. |

Cool idea, I would stick a maple neck in there with white blocks and white binding. I want a pink bass too!! with a different pickup configuration though. |

I would strip if I were pink. But I'm blue, So f**k it. |

hah, i've got a geddy too... but i would NEVER strip it to repaint it another color. i love it too much, especially since i replaced the scratchplate. |
Sup guys.
