Aussie Floyd was £24 (note pounds, I dunno how much that is in Aus-land)

MattSharpIsCool 03-28-2007 12:51 PM

I'd be weary to pay more than $25 to see a tribute band. From what I hear, they're pretty good, but still.

MrConeman 03-28-2007 02:20 PM

This probably sounds dumb. But seriously, its different for Aussie Floyd.
I usually avoid going to see trib bands because its usually tacky wigs and some crap bar with terrible sound.

But they really go all out. I'm sure you've heard it all before though.

MattSharpIsCool 03-28-2007 02:26 PM

Ya I think I've seen a couple clips of them, and don't get me wrong, they do a really good job. It's just, that's a lot of money for a cover band.

MrConeman 03-28-2007 02:33 PM

Yer. I see your point.
I guess its easy for me, It's kind of a family thing, we all go every year and its a great night out.

I'd still rather fly to outer mongolia alone if I had the chance to see the real Floyd. :(

LF96 03-29-2007 11:49 AM

My girlfriend and some other friends of mine will be seeing the Aussie Floyd at Rock Werchter. But since I find 160 euros a bit too much for a festival that only offers a few interesting bands and a whole bunch of crappy commercial bands, I won't be going. Nonetheless, I'll still be jealous that she saw them and I didn't.:)

Dragon_Prince 03-29-2007 12:07 PM

Rockwerchter has a very good line up this year :O you should go

-1up!- 04-02-2007 09:35 AM

Pink Floyd's original lineup (Waters - Gilmour - Wright - Mason) coming to Montreal in September.

At least that's what many people around me are saying. I dearly hope it comes true.

Yield 04-02-2007 10:09 AM

The original lineup included Barrett...but he is dead!

-1up!- 04-02-2007 10:34 AM

Forget it. It was an April Fool's joke by a local radio station. I can tell you countless fans of Floyd, including friends of mine, cried over learning it was a joke.

Lunch 04-02-2007 10:41 AM

Haha pwnt

Apocalyptic Raids 04-02-2007 10:56 AM

Hahaha, that's a good one.

Yield 04-02-2007 11:27 AM

 Good one

leweh 04-02-2007 12:23 PM

you should of read that it wasnt true anyway

MattSharpIsCool 04-02-2007 02:16 PM

Damn, I would have gone to Montreal for that.

Leper 04-02-2007 02:47 PM

Only 3 more months until I see Roger.:D
Damn, I would have gone to Montreal for that.
As soon as I read his post I started contemplating the trip.

Riva 04-02-2007 05:39 PM

Yah, same here. And I live a bloody ocean away.

TojesDolan 04-02-2007 05:40 PM

uh Roger Waters was near my location last month

the bastard was like $120 for the good seats

and I thought **** that he isn't even going to play anything of animals

and he didn't so I'm happy

Riva 04-02-2007 05:42 PM

Yeah, that was the price when he came to Brisbane. Too bad I had to chuck the cost of a return plane ticket onto that as well.

TojesDolan 04-02-2007 05:45 PM

I wonder how much the full band would charge for a ticket if they were together...

like they did it for free @ Live 8, but I don't know. A good seat would be like $250. And about 3/4 of that would be for Waters presence alone so

Riva 04-02-2007 06:00 PM

Well, they said they'd get back together for charity events, so I guess it'd be free again, or a donation to the charity. So it could be pot luck, like tickets to Live8, or it could be an expensive "donation".

TojesDolan 04-02-2007 06:02 PM

Oh too bad.

I'll never experience the magic of Dogs being played live. :'(

I saw him in Feb, he played Sheep

TojesDolan 04-03-2007 01:09 AM

No but I want Dogs. I don't give a crap about Sheep

Apocalyptic Raids 04-03-2007 03:31 AM

tojes is srs business

anyway, I've been listening to Dark Side a fair bit lately. I'm in love with the lyrics to Time.

Riva 04-03-2007 04:24 AM

I love the ending to Time.

Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way.
The time is gone,
The song is over,
Thought I'd something more to say...

But, I love Breathe's better:

Run, rabbit run.
Dig that hole, forget the sun.
When at last the work is done, don't sit down, it's time to dig another one.

Noyana 04-03-2007 06:25 AM

i'm going. my parents got tickets (i have to pay for half or possibly the whole thing which'll be a bitch.) but yeah, i'm excited!

yeah those are great.

I think my favourite from Time though is this

And you run, and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

't[tkhdtjn'dm;'/#;rkotrjhuirhsori!
YES!
Those are my favorite lyrics by anyone, ever. Just, great.
The outro to Dogs is great aswell.

Who was born in a house full of pain
Who was trained not to spit in the fan
Who was told what to do by the man
Who was broken by trained personnel
Who was fitted with collar and chain
Who was given a pat on the back
Who was breaking away from the pack
Who was only a stranger at home
Who was ground down in the end
Who was found dead on the phone
Who was dragged down by the stone.

Long, but great.

Leper 04-03-2007 01:57 PM

I think Dogs is my favourite Floyd song. I really love that ending as well. Such a strong finish to a great song.

clairvoyant 04-03-2007 05:34 PM

Dogs is definitely one of the greatest Floyd songs ever. Quite possibly my favorite ever.

That is so good. That whole song is amazing. The whole album is.

I like the lyrics form Nobody Home off The Wall:
I've got nicotine stains on my fingers.
I've got a silver spoon on a chain.
I've got a grand piano to prop up my mortal remains.

They are my favourite lyrics ever, period.

Yes! Nobody Home is my favourite song lyrically off of The Wall. Even musically it's brilliant, but not as good as Goodbye Blue Sky.

And my favourite lyric from Dogs is definitely "And its too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw around"
You know that song was about Syd don't you? Im not saying the lyrics are crap, just some trivia for you.:thumb:
Hehe, well, the majority of the album is about Syd anyway.

MattSharpIsCool 04-03-2007 08:47 PM

Every time I think I've found a favorite Floyd lyric, I remember another song and think they're my favorite lyrics. It's a vicious cycle, really.

I havent been listening to much Floyd over the last few weeks, but I might have to change that. Haha! Charade you are!

rippa32 04-03-2007 09:19 PM

I know what you mean but it does seem like everyone goes back to Time.
