Internal Affairs was sick, but I thought Desire (although awesome as well) was a slight step down. I hope he puts out another album next year, instead of making everyone wait what... 8 years again?
I think the reason for the first delay was because of the legal issue with IA, he must of been down about that. But if he wasn't so damn underrated I could see him putting out album in a shorter amount of time. When I saw Premo no other track, except maybe Boom, had the club "pumping" then Simon Says.
Monch's birthday is today. What should I tell him?
Don't take more then 5 years to release your next album. |

"Get the **** up." |
^Hahahah, good one.
|
been really digging eyedea & abilities, so much talent
|
abilities is ridiculous - can't wait until the turf club show.
|
Listening to Dizzee Rascal's 'Boy in da Corner'. Nothing mesmerising here, except for the lulzy Brit accents.
|
That's cause you're a dirty Sassenach, a limey, a pommy, a rosbif, an angrez, a firang, and a John Bull.
|
this new Black Milk is some serious hip-hip.
|
Might be interviewing the MC from this group:
http://www.myspace.com/opusakoben Good ****. |
just came back from an atmosphere/blueprint show. Pretty ****in sick but what was awesome was at the end Slug invited Blueprint up to do some freestyling and Brother Ali surprisingly joined them. Ended with "Always Coming Back Home"
There's nothing like seeing Atmosphere at First Ave... |

There's nothing like seeing Atmosphere at First Ave...
Atmosphere's pretty meh, but they do put on a good live show. Skill-wise, Brother Ali is probably the best of the popular underground guys in MN, although he's a bit of a poseur. Blueprint's alright. I Self Devine, Muja Messiah, even dudes from the Doomtree crew are more my cup of tea. My brother (not genetically-speaking) is in The Usual Suspects (MC Free One), and they're pretty tight... opened up at soundset. Check out Mike Mictlan and Lazerbeak's new joint, "Hand over Fist"... pretty good; I'll probably be reviewing it here soon. |
I agree that Atmos isn't the best on record, he's solid but nothing spectacular. He puts on a hell of a show though, same goes with Blueprint. I do like his Soul Position material though
There was some drunk guy pushing his way up to the front and Slug told him to stop it and eventually got him kicked out. The whole crowd was cheering cause he was being an spatula and Slug even gave him $20 to cover the ticket heh And yeah, doomtree's sick. Soundset was pretty cool too. Eyedea & Abilities were probably my favorite there but the whole second half was solid. Especially when Atmosphere ended with Crewed Up |
yes
2008 is turning out to be a not so bad year. i worried for a while. |
2008's been pretty sweet... lots of above-average stuff. Haven't heard any potentially classic albums yet, but I still have a lot to listen to.
I was happy with soundset; they managed to pick up a lot of guys that don't shine too bright on record, but put on great performances. Plus, I'm a Def Jux junkie, and it was great to see Aesop. I'm definitely going to the Turf Club show next week, along with the 2nd Atmosphere show the Monday after. Speaking of Def Jux, I've been really disappointed lately... The Mighty Underdogs suck really bad. |
2008's been alright, stuff like atmosphere disappointed
|
how do you guys feel about the song
trial time - mr biggs perhaps the best song of the century |
Mos Def Black of Both Sides, amazing album
|
yep, that's a classic for sure
|
anyone like Urban Thermo Dynamics?
|

Especially when Atmosphere ended with Crewed Up
i love atmosphere pre Se7en's Travels, i personally enjoyed the majority of Se7en's travels but this was when they begin altering there sound for the fact that they were becoming popular outside of the hip-hop fanbase , they felt like upping the emotional content and traded boom-bap beats for something more expiremental, personally i love slug as an emcee but hes degressed in innovation and gone more so to the woe is me love hurts substance. Doomtree is amazing , personally one of my favourites in hip-hop right now, there doing something refreshing and new... if you like Doomtree, i suggest Sandpeople and if your unfamilar with Oldominion .. well get yourself some...(i.e. Grayskul, Dim Mak, Smoke, Sleep, Anaxagorus etc) |
Q-tip's new album came out yesterday. Any listened to it?
|
Nah, QTip is irrelevant ;-p
I'll probably give it a whirl sometime though. Scarlet, I really effing can't stand Grayskul... never heard any of that other stuff though, if it's in the same vein I prob won't check it out. Haven't heard Urban Thermo either - will check it out if it's interesting. |
I saw Grayskul open for Atmosphere a year or two back. They were alright, but nothing special.
You guys should really check out Kokayi, I'm probably going to interview him next week. |
Lupe, Common, Q-tip, and most Kanye.
|

|
it's really, really good. took a while to grow on me though.
|
violent by design was the only sweet jmt album. seriously, check out outerspace, they're in aotp, similar thematically/ atmospherically, and way better.
