After the like 100th time listening to the White Album I still don't think its that great. My least favorite post-65 Beatles album.

The White album loses the Good Songs:Filler ratio, but I think it has some of their best songs on it. It's probably my favorite Beatles album next to Abbey Road just because it's at least interesting, where as I get bored by a lot of their other albums (uh-oh, looks like I'm in for it now).

The White album has about half greatand half meh songs. It really didn't have to be so long.

I can't wait to fix my avatar up, I have a really creepy one I made for something else a while ago

What is it that I hear at 2:33 in A Day in the Life? It always sounded like the whispered word "murder" to me, what do you guys think?

I like all the White Album except Wild Honey Pie and Honey Pie. Wild Honey Pie is just too wierd for me, and Honey Pie gets kind of old. Some of the filler songs really make the album fun and interesting to listen to.

Ok, this I time I really thought it was me posting.

The White Album used to be one of my lesser liked Beatles albums, but then I listened to it a lot more, and I love it. The only songs I don't like are probably Honey Pie and Goodbye.

I was joking. Im one of the few people who like Yoko. I dont believe she had anything to do with The Beatles break up. My opinion is that it was John and Paul's musical differences that broke up the beatles. You can tell by both of their first solo cd's. John's first was a mostly loud rock album, with screaming and emotional songs. And Paul's continued in the fashion of "I Will," "Oh! Darling" and the such.

And I think you may have accidentally gave me positive rep points, cause I seem to have gone up to 47. But that's good for me, since I was clearly joking.

If It would have happened to Yoko, John probably would have become a total mess, and maybe even stopped making music.

But yes Hey Jude, Yesterday, and Golden Slumbers have nice lyrics. Im not saying he's not a good lyric writer. Im saying John's had more thought to his most of the time. Some of Paul's have got some good deep meanings...Hey Jude would be one, and some of his songs are really cool and more complex (Rocky Racoon). Imagine is not a very complex song, but it shows alot more of John's soul than say "Yesterday." Yesterday is a melody based song, he had the melody a long time before he had the words, while Imagine was most likely the other way around.

Yes I agree Paul was a better musician, he was multi-talented. And its proven that John had some troubles with keeping rhythm. Yes Paul could incorporate classical music into his songs, but John had Rock N' Roll come to him more easily. He would sit down and write a rocker, he wouldnt sit down and tell himself he was gonna make a rocker (Helter Skelter). That's what made The Beatles so great they all brought there own talents together to great something that was greater than the parts alone.

And there's not really any argument over whether Paul's songs are poppy. Because alot of them are, and Im not saying that as an insult. I love a good pop song, and Paul delivers those. And Yes I know he's made some rockers, but my point is that what really came natural to him and what he made the most were pop songs. And again that's not an insult.

Something was written by George Harrison was it not? I know for sure he wrote the words, and im very sure he wrote the music. But it's possible paul wrote the melody. And I think the best part of She's Leaving Home is John's part. Golden Slumbers, and Hey Jude do have great melodies. There's no arguing that.

But you can't say that he wrote most of the strong melodies. Listen to Across The Universe, Hide Your Love Away, Strawberry Fields, and In My Life.

We can both agree that there both great songwriters.

I find it hard to believe McCartney was never worried about Lennon being more popular, or loved. They were always in competition with one another.

First off, it wasn't really an insult more than it was a comment. And secondly, critics have been saying it for like 20 years. But I guess there not Yoko. When Yoko says it, it's outrageous!

I agree almost entirely with what you say, I was just kind of out of it when posting, I suppose. Although I've never heard of a critic saying Paul's songs were "simple" in a negative context.

Abbey Road is the best album, but White Album has the best songs, yet as someone said, lots of filler.

What is everyones favourite pre-Rubber Soul song? Back when they were making the jolly bouncy pop songs like Eight Days A Week and such. I think mine would have to be "I Should Have Known Better" the melody in that song is catchy as hell!

Yea I love that song, perfect catchy song. I also love pretty much anything off Help especially You've Got to Hide Your Love Away and I've Just Seen a Face. Twist and Shout and Money are awesome covers off their first two albums as well.

Pretty much anything off Help or A Hard Day's Night is great.

"Help" and "Can't Buy Me Love" are probably my favorite pre Rubber Soul songs. "Till There Was You" is also very cool.

'help', 'yesterday', 'she loves you', ' i saw her standing there' etc. all of them are first-class! :)

I was extatic the first time I heard [I]I Should Have Known Better[/I], which was probably last December. I think I remeber a perma-grin

It's just so amazing in the stangest way, like it holds more depth than it should

"Can't Buy Me Love" and "Help!" are my favorite originals, and "Twist and Shout" is my favorite cover. I really like "We Can Work It Out", too.

I really can't choose one over another. They're all so fun to listen to. The only one that really stands out in my mind from that era is "Yesterday." Probably because it's so different from the others.

I Should Have Known Better is such a kickass song. That and And I Love Her are the two best off Hard Day's Night. Twist and Shout is another great song.

I still have to get A Hard Day's Night album.. I have the movie though.

I've got the movie recorded on my digital cable :) that's when I first heard I Should Have Known Better and I was like wow!!!

I wish I hadn't downloaded so many Beatle's songs, if I could go back I would have done it the old fashioned way and bought the albums so I could slowly discover the beatles. That's why I've cut myself off from downloading, from now on I will buy the albums to hear songs I havent heard. Like Revolver, I heard every song but two of them :(. It would be much cooler to get the album and be amazed.

Like with Rubber Soul I hadnt heard any of those songs, except maybe in My Life, same goes for Abbey Road. And listening to both of those cd's was a great experience.

I dont even remember how I got into the Beatles. For some reason during the last christmas season I decided to buy The Beatle's 1's cause it was two cd's for 30 dollars. So I got that one and...I dont remember the other one. But after I heard the 1's I was hooked.

My dad had most the Beatles tapes, so I listened to that a few years ago. Then I bought the albums. I still don't have all of them though.

Hmm I just listened closely to both of the orchestra swells..there's some drowned out talking right at the start of the first one, but I couldn't hear any whispering during either. Geez, whatever you're on Walrus, I want some. ;)

I've never fallen into that. I got into the Beatles hardcore when I first saw Yellow Submarine, then I heard all their official released on tapes dubbed straight off the CDs (the original 13 British album CD released of 1987), then slowly have been collecting all their CDs.

The talking in "A Day In The Life" during the orchestra swells is someone in the studio (George Martin I think) counting for the orchestra. This was because when that person counted to 24, the orchestra was supposed to be at the top of their scales, and then it would go into McCartney's part.

As for the talking in "Hey Jude", I'm pretty sure that's Lennon hitting the wrong chord, as you said Walrus.

I heard about the Lennon in Hey Jude thing, but you've got to be really open minded and listening closely to notice anything, let alone make out a sentance.
