Waiting for my Conklin 7.

How about you?

PaulR 08-31-2004 11:58 AM

I'm doing nothing, apart from thinking of what to do tomorrow.
I have to wait in so this company can pick up my computer to do tests on it.
I set to make about £115 from the testing I and they do.

PaulR 08-31-2004 12:01 PM

Oh, and thinking about it. £115 + £120 from my GCSE results and the £40 i have saved already = new bass.
Any ideas? - thats about £285 umm so $500 USD. I could also possibly wrangle a bit more from selling my old one and my parents.

Foxfire 08-31-2004 12:01 PM

How many strings? ;)

PaulR 08-31-2004 12:03 PM

:D
As many as possible!

PaulR 08-31-2004 12:06 PM

Nah umm lets say 5.

Foxfire 08-31-2004 12:06 PM

6-string Curbow for 500 USD.
Ibanez SR506 for 600 USD.

PaulR 08-31-2004 12:09 PM

Any idea if where from - and whether I could get them shipped to UK - and how much that would be?

Bass+Fingers+Amp=Groove 08-31-2004 12:15 PM

oh that sucks your gonna get a mark up on price. :(

Foxfire 08-31-2004 12:15 PM

There's a thread somewhere that has a list of very good UK stores. It could be in the resources.

Bass+Fingers+Amp=Groove 08-31-2004 12:26 PM

im jaco knows a place for good deals in the uk :p

PaulR 08-31-2004 12:34 PM

sanray 08-31-2004 12:59 PM

JamminOnMy4String 08-31-2004 01:42 PM

BFAG: Yes slapping is addicting... I can't not pick up my bass without at least slapping a little bit. Once you start to get the hang of it, it's fun to incorporate into songs. Plus it adds funk, which is always a good thing

mad chimp 08-31-2004 01:46 PM

i dont like slapping for some reason. i just fingerstyle most the time i just havent enjoyed slapping my bass lol i cant understand why...

mad chimp 08-31-2004 01:48 PM

sanray im looking at getting a 5 fretless just short on cash at first i was a bit worried about a sloppy b string but with the flatwound its great!

Jim Hull 08-31-2004 03:02 PM

PaulSimonon 08-31-2004 03:36 PM

I spend two weeks in Whiting every summer, my grandma lives there (off of Indianapolis)... Hear about the two guys that got murdered in Hammond? she is two blocks away, and I got there the week after... I didn't sleep too well knowing people got shot that close...

TigerArmy 08-31-2004 03:49 PM

I don't know if I mentioned I was joining my college's jazz band, but I just found out the bad news - there won't be any jazz band. :(
Only four people signed up so the class was cancelled, but on the plus side I'm being placed into the Concert Band, which is going to comprise of whatever musical group we can assemble ourselves into. I know there is a pianist/baby sax player and guitarist, and myself on bass among others. Maybe we can come up with an interesting group, at least I am hoping.

You could make some really good stuff with that ensemble, wish I had a good group....

Foxfire 08-31-2004 04:02 PM

My group in concert band is going to suck.

ScorpSath 08-31-2004 04:04 PM

Foxfire 08-31-2004 04:13 PM

Left Shoe 08-31-2004 04:16 PM
