The whole thread needs a big brick thrown at its face.

Its a good arguement though which I think I'm very slowly winning...

Sounds interesting; I hadn't looked there since it had about 35 posts.

/goes to look

You might not be slowly winning if peoples arguments werent along the lines of 'dio is shit' and ending it there

Yeah, I've had a look and most of the arguments aren't very cogent.
"Ozzy's best 'cos his voice is so unique" seems to be about the best they've come up with so far.

AA-12 06-25-2005 03:09 PM

That is a horrible thread.

I hope they realize that most singers are unique.

Unfortunatly that probably won't happen :upset:

I really hate people who argue like that.

I at least try to justify why I think something is crap.

RustedPieces 06-25-2005 05:59 PM

Well I guess it's all opinion and no matter how much you argue some people are just too stubborn to change their opinion and try something new.

rippa32 06-25-2005 10:31 PM

But still the Ozzy era is great and I dont actually have a favourite, there all good, i even enjoyed what Ive heard of Born Again and Seventh Star (although I dont consider Sevent h Star Sabbath just because Iommi didn't want it to be.)

White_heat 06-25-2005 11:14 PM

Ozzy era had some great albums, but it wasn't because of Ozzy, I guess thats what people don't get

rippa32 06-26-2005 12:38 AM

Yes you have a point there. Although his contributions was close to bugger all he was credited on every song just as the rest of the band was, so he must have done something.

White_heat 06-26-2005 12:47 AM

But one thing thats true is that some of iommis best stuff came in that era

rippa32 06-26-2005 12:51 AM

Yeah I guess but have you heard the solo for Zero the Hero? One of his best.

AA-12 06-26-2005 12:57 AM

I heard some Iommi solo song yesterday. It was quite good.

White_heat 06-26-2005 01:18 AM
Yeah I guess but have you heard the solo for Zero the Hero? One of his best.
Isn't that with ozzy, i might be confusing it with something else

edit/ yeah i know which one you are saying now, i know it as the dark

Brew 06-26-2005 02:49 AM

The Dark/Zero the Hero.

The Dark is the weird instrumental bit at the start.

I heard a song from Iommi's new album, it sounded really good. Quite heavy aswell.

White_heat 06-26-2005 02:53 AM

Is that already out, or was it a leak?

Brew 06-26-2005 02:57 AM

Its on his website somewhere.

I think the actual album should be out by now...

AA-12 06-26-2005 02:58 AM

Is it worth buying? If so, I may pick it up.

I'll probably get that and some Sonata Arctica.

Brew 06-26-2005 02:59 AM

http://www.iommi.com

There's now samples for all the songs off the album. I'll give them a listen later...and if you're after some Sonata...Winterheart's Guild is worth buying.

AA-12 06-26-2005 03:01 AM

Alright, I don't have that one, so i'll look for it.

Brew 06-26-2005 03:03 AM

Happy Hunting.

AA-12 06-26-2005 03:04 AM

I just listening to the Iommi tracks. I only like about 2 of the tracks :-\

Brew 06-26-2005 03:23 AM

I just gave most of the samples a listen...they all sound pretty good. I'll probably get the album when its released, I got Ohmwork (gzr) for £10 when it came out from Amazon so I'm hoping they do the same deal with Fused...

rippa32 06-26-2005 03:34 AM

I dont like the sound of GZR sounds too industrial for me. Which is a shame cause Geezer is my favourite bassist.

AA-12 06-26-2005 03:37 AM

I've still yet to hear any GZR. I'll probably like it though. Geezer is one of my favorite bassists, right behind Stefan Fimmers.

Brew 06-26-2005 03:37 AM

The lack of solo's on Ohmwork was a little disappointing, but the album has grown on me a little more in recent weeks. I'm looking into getting his older albums aswell...

rippa32 06-26-2005 04:02 AM

I really liked that first sample on the site but I didnt like the rest.

rippa32 06-26-2005 04:13 AM

The new Iommi album sounds awesome though ( I had a listen to dopamine)

Get songs of silence it is aweomse...

Anyone listend to any of Bill Ward's solo stuff, i've only heard part of 1 song, didnt like it much.

Brew 06-26-2005 08:02 AM

I've got Straws and Children Killing Children by Bill.

It took me awhile to like them, his work is more lyrics-based than musical talent. His voice is pretty good aswell.

I just ripped Born Again and The Eternal Idol from vinyl to my comp, they're both alright albums, nothing too special though. If you completly forget about everything else Sabbath have done whilst listening to Born Again, its actually a pretty good album.

NP: Early Warning School (live, 1969)

rippa32 06-27-2005 06:16 AM

haha musta missed that join date. And as for Born Again I really want it but will probably get some deep purple first. And as for Bill didnt he sing with sabbath on a couple of songs?

Brew 06-27-2005 10:10 AM

Bill sung on Its Alright (Technical Ecstasy) and Swinging the Chain (Never Say Die!).

Geezer and Tony did back-ups on a few songs but I can't remember which ones at the moment.
