Sock puppets.

I like it.
What I do for DIY'ing is I get an A3 piece of paper (perfect size for t-shirt) and draw something that's going to look good in just black and white ie. my op. ivy t-shirt. Then I cut it out, place the paper on top of the t-shirt and paint on the image (with fabric or permanent paint). The only downside is the time it takes to cut out the image but it decreases chances of fu<king up

The stencils I make are with paper card or cardboard, though cardboard is really hard to cut details through, even with my trusty exacto-k-nyfe.

I use a really sharp kitchen knife. Trying to cut out the hair on the skanker on my t-shirt took ages!

Invest in an exactoknife. They're like 2 quid (£1.99) from craft shops and they are incredible. They work so well. Make sure you don't buy a stanley knife though. They look similar, but exactoknifes are slimmer.

Biscuit_box 01-13-2006 05:40 AM

I'll look for one! I hate using the ordinary knife. The most annoying thing is when the paint bleeds! I don't stick the paper down in any way. I just place it on it and go for it. It usually comes out really good

Exacto knives are cool, especially if you get the kits with all the bits and bobs in. Stolen Sharpie Revolution and every DIY article from America I've ever read, absolutely bums exacto knives. However I don't have one.

I just use a trusty craft knife with snap off blades if there's little detail, but most often (cus I do a lot of detailed work) I use a scalpel. They're amazing and I got a box of replacement blades and since I've been doing DIY I never needed to change the blade until about 2 days ago. Scalpels are awesome!
Fauxhawks are when people (only douche bags do this. They usually wear pink shirts with a popped collar.) gel their hair into a mohawk shape, without actually trimming any of their hair. They just push it all in the middle. Totally ghey.

And, I think Mohican might actually be the correct term for "pohawk". I like pohawk better though.
I hate fuax hawks soooo much. A few kids in my school have faux hawks and they all wear pink polo shirts with popped collars. It annoys the shit out of me.

where i come from wa'nkers call them "modified mohawks" i call them "ghey haircuts"
Where i come from we have this brand "industrie" i dont know if its a worldwide brand, but all those guys wear their tight pink poloshirts with the back of the collar up and tight (but not emotight) jeans. I have a tendency to spitball easyway pearls at these people.

uhh heres one:

how do i wire this with a 3pdt switch and a LED, keep in mind its postive grounded too.

El Punko 01-13-2006 08:19 PM

Ok, heres a question. What is a good fabric paint for making shirts? I want one that will not come off or fade after a couple washes. Thanks.

I told you they wear the popped collar pink shirts. It's overly cliche. If it's not the popped pink collar shirt, it's whatever the current trendy pop-punk band is.
Ok, heres a question. What is a good fabric paint for making shirts? I want one that will not come off or fade after a couple washes. Thanks.
I use acrylic mixed with fabric medium, and it doesn't fade too much. Or you could get this stuff called "supercoat" fabric paint. It works a little better than the fabric medium/acrylic mixture, but for like about four times the price.

El Punko 01-13-2006 08:33 PM

About how much would either cost?

skavid 01-13-2006 08:45 PM
About how much would either cost?
A large bottle of acrylic should cost about 2-3 dollars, and the fabric medium is like 2 dollars for a medium sized bottle. A tub of supercoat is like $20, and you can only get it, if you're lucky, from craft stores, or you could always look on the internet.

El Punko 01-13-2006 09:04 PM

Ill give the mixing idea a shot, thanks very much.

It's just their logo that's featured on Jeff Rosenstock's t-shirt a few times.

So I'm thinking of building a tall bike.

I've always had a passion for bikes, and a few years ago I used to get garbaged ones, fix them up and sell them/give them to neighbor kids. I've allready tried builing a weird mutant bike out of neighbor kid's old bike parts, and it was really cool. Too bad it got stolen the very same day I made it.

So basically, at this point I own one bike frame, and may have access to another bike. If I really persue this, I'll update on my progress.

Skidmark Steve 01-14-2006 12:19 PM

Some kid I used to know use to make his own chopper bikes. They were sweet.

asdf 01-14-2006 12:26 PM

Chopper bikes are cool, but I couldn't afford all the pieces that go along with them.

While on a critical mass bike ride we met up with these guys:

coheneran 01-14-2006 01:50 PM

Critical Masses are fun. If you lived in London, you could go to LARC to the bike building/fixing workshop every week. I may start riding a bike instead of public transport soon. By the way, your next post is 8000:thumb:.

Flagjacket 01-14-2006 01:53 PM

I have this fancy mountain bike that falls apart all the time, and my mom won't give me like, 200 bucks to go buy a cheaper one cause I really don't need 21 speeds.

El Punko 01-14-2006 04:23 PM

Im workin on some shirts right now, Ill post results when Im done.

Yeah, critical mass is great, except where I live not enough people participate for it to be very fun. Towards the end most people just gave up.

Wow, I wish I lived soemwhere with a bike building/fixing workshop.
Tall bikes look so tough to ride.
Might be. But I'll learn how.

8,000th post. :)

DaveToopes 01-14-2006 10:52 PM

I have an old school Dyno that I still ride around sometimes if I can't get a ride.

asdf 01-14-2006 11:05 PM

I have an old school schwinn from the 70's that I garbage picked. I treasure it.

Looks just like that only dark blue. Can't believe someone had just set it on the curb. When I saw it, I was just so stunned, that I actually went and asked the person if they were throwing it out, and they said yeah and that I can have it.

Liebensaft 01-14-2006 11:09 PM

So punx!

DaveToopes 01-15-2006 08:56 AM

Ha, I just noticed that there is no pedal.

Round here we call those "metrohawks" coz metrosexuals all have them. Either that or the rooster, for obvious reasons.

D & V 01-15-2006 09:13 AM

fag-hawks.

RIP Ian Curtis 01-15-2006 09:17 AM

I invented that hairstyle, back in 2002, I was doing it way before anyone, coz my friend ben had a real mohawk and I wanted to be like him, but I was only 13 so I couldn't.

I didn't even notice that. Okay, my bike looks just like that, except dark blue and has pedals.

D & V 01-15-2006 09:47 AM

I steal my little brothers bike.
