3. When Played live, this chorus must be an audence-participation heaven- see Blind Guardian. Period.
Fixed.
Fixed.
This is correct.
I hereby stand by this alteration to my above statement.

Shattered_Future 03-02-2006 09:46 AM

Yes, I find that crucial to a power metal song. You MUST get the urge to sing along with it, otherwise it's no good.

Josh 03-02-2006 02:09 PM

i found that a bit of a problem with some of the songs on the new DragonForce album, actually. some of the songs just aren't catchy enough, even though they're still great.

JausmetalJ 03-03-2006 03:09 AM

Heart of the Dragon has an awesome singslong chorus.

This is also why Iron MAIDEN ARE SO DAMN ATTRACTIVE.

They have the whole songalong croooning and the "whhoooooaaaa whoooaaa whoooaaa'' type thing.

Slapping Penguin 03-03-2006 06:28 AM
Yes, I find that crucial to a power metal song. You MUST get the urge to sing along with it, otherwise it's no good.
No you must find the urge to put on foot on a speaker. One hand on a mic and the other cleched as a fist rocking slowly back and forth.

This is quite true. If the clenched fist is clenched around the handle of a mace, so much the better.

MetalOz 03-03-2006 09:59 AM

Has anyone ever heard Heavens Gate? I know that Sascha Paeth, who is a pretty busy metal producer now was the guitarist.
Wondering if they are worth checking out...

shadow_stalker 03-03-2006 06:22 PM

Anyone know why Lost Horizon's singer left?

im aware that this may have happend awhile ago but i didnt notice so...

10th man down 03-03-2006 06:34 PM

Creative differences I believe. He's now in a band called Crystal Eyes.
Someone recomend me some Helloween songs. :)
Dr Stein is one of my favorite Helloween songs ever. Hell, you really can't go wrong with either of the two Keeper of the Seven Keys albums.

JausmetalJ 03-03-2006 07:08 PM

I WANT OUT!!!
Im listening to it right now.

Amazing.

Mr. Torture. Hilarious lyrics (some of the worst I've ever seen), but it's a goddamn catchy song.

I'm Alive is quite good as well...

Lord Tim 03-03-2006 11:48 PM

Revelations and Falling Higher from the Better Than Raw album.

I'm Alive, Twilight Of The Gods and Halloween from Keeper part I

I Want Out, Eagle Fly Free, Keeper Of The Seven Keys from Keeper part II

The Chance and Someone's Crying from Pink Bubble Go Ape

... lots more, but they're my fav's :)

I second this.
Halloween is my favourite, though, followed by eagle fly free.

Nepenthe 03-04-2006 11:28 AM

Ride The Sky=greatness

I also really love I Want Out. And of course Halloween and KOTSK are both great. And I really like Victim Of Fate and Livin Aint No Crime (both from various Dr.Stein singles or the Best Rest and Rare compilation).

Lord Abortion 03-04-2006 11:32 AM

I like Sonata Arctica's cover of I want out, too.

Nepenthe 03-04-2006 11:37 AM
I like Sonata Arctica's cover of I want out, too.
I havent' heard it. Though I'm sure it is excellent.

Shattered_Future 03-04-2006 12:05 PM

I listened to that last night again...they did a good job with it.

JausmetalJ 03-04-2006 04:53 PM

Yeah they did do a good job.

/listenes to it now.

The keyboards make it sound different at the start.

Mr_Bounce 03-04-2006 07:44 PM

Sonata Arctica's version is slightly faster. Also, I love the little drum intro to that song.

Dragonforce in Australia... I absolutely have to get up to Sydney to see them. Seriously, I HAVE to :(

Lord Abortion 03-04-2006 07:46 PM

Ah, man, the live version of lost in the light is awesome.

The quiet bit where LT intones "Dakk"...then leaves the man to do his work.
It's just awesome.

I really need to buy that album.

Have you heard Dark Moor's cover of Halloween? I brought this up a couple pages back... it's incredible, all 13 minutes!
This is quite true. If the clenched fist is clenched around the handle of a mace, so much the better.
Oh defintely Ollies and the legs are clenched around some tight pants. Really really tight pants.

Riva 03-07-2006 05:48 AM

I have an original pair of faded, acid wash '80s jeans that require several buckets of soapy water in order to get into. :p

I'd like to once again point out how cool Tim's jeans look in certain press photos.

Lord Tim 03-07-2006 08:37 AM

You would not believe how damn hard it is to find jeans like that these days! :(

Lord Abortion 03-07-2006 10:35 AM

Yeah, if I could go back in time 20 years and buy anything, that would be what it is.

Deth 03-07-2006 10:45 AM

Me too. That and a leather vest like what Dave Murray wears.

Lord Abortion 03-07-2006 10:48 AM

In other news, Gamma Ray-Somewhere out in space arrived in't post!
Good stuff so far.

beaNN 03-07-2006 11:21 AM

What do you guys think of Kamelot?

JausmetalJ 03-07-2006 06:52 PM

I havnt even heard Kamelot yet :(

Is it seriously hard to get the jeans? Could you make them?

I want a pair :(

Shattered_Future 03-07-2006 07:03 PM

Kamelot = excellente. One of the better American bands around today...
