Badmoon 08-30-2004 08:22 PM

I'd say The Deepend: Volume 1.

Broken Arrow 08-30-2004 08:26 PM

I'll check it out. I have to go to record store soon because i need Fresh Cream to complete my Cream Collection....... 3 CDs...some Collection

magicbus 08-30-2004 08:33 PM

I only have The Very Best, but I quite enjoy it.

Broken Arrow 08-30-2004 08:36 PM

Ya they are amazing .Imagine if they stayed together. Don't get me wrong I love Clapton but I thought he should've stayed in Cream and have done more. IMO

magicbus 08-30-2004 08:37 PM

Yea that was by far my favorite Clapton band. They're all amazing at their instruments. But his other projects were good too, and I like his solo career too.

RockAndRoll 08-30-2004 08:40 PM
Im going to see alice cooper , a queen imitation band , Jeff Healy , and april wine in october.(there all seperate concerts though).
Nice, all those bands put on good conerts (well i've never been to see a queen imitation band). April wine will rock you socks off. They even covered 21st century schizoid man (very well too).

P.S I've got you beat too.

Broken Arrow 08-30-2004 08:43 PM

^ I can only say I've seen one of those bands...... April Wine Who was very good.

magicbus 08-30-2004 08:45 PM

OH that reminds me. Seeing The Surrogate Band, Pink FLoyd tribute band, this friday.

www.thesurrogateband.com

For a pseudogame, who can guess what song their name comes from?

EDIT: The website gives it away, so guess first :thumb:

Cooper was the fsecond day of rock in the park (or the hawk rocks the park or whatever you want to call it the rock festival in london), and healy played at the blues fest in london, and there was a way to get stage level about five feet away for free, best seats in the house. (I would've bought tickets but it was 18 and over only.)

Broken Arrow 08-30-2004 08:54 PM

You live in London?^

RockAndRoll 08-30-2004 08:59 PM
Yeah, uhh sorry about the posts last night, I was in a severe beliggerent drunken rage, but I still dont like Miik or respect his opinions.

Back to The Who however, someone said that Moon was the "original crazy drummer," when it was definitely John Bonham. In Drummer Magazine like 6 months ago they had an article on Bonham, and they directly said that before he started playing hard and heavy, other drummers had attempted it and just sounded like crap, but after he showed drummers how to play hard and skillfully, Moon came along and started the same style, so they said that Moon was the second drummer to do it well. I dont dislike the Who, as I previously indicated in my drunken blathering, but I honestly do think they are extremely overrated. They have their moments, and are a talented band, but they didnt produce enough good music to be considered one of the best.
uh no. For starters moon predecesses bonham.

Secondly moon and bonham have very very different styles. Moon enjoyed "surfer music" and it was part of his insparation, he has a very untamed style, he's quite off the wall with his drumming much like he was in life.

Bonham on the other hand was more tame as most drummers are. He was a solid player and a more powerful player. He makes great use of his bass pedal (single) and has become quite known for it. Keith is known for his off the cuff, untamed good fun style, Bonham is known for his harder, more powerful (and much more tamed) style, and for his use of the single bass.

John bonahm was not the original crazy drummer. Keith moon was doing his crazy long before he even heard of bonham.
yep.
My cousins live there. I'm from a town called Kincardine about two hours away. its on lake Huron

Badmoon 08-30-2004 09:02 PM

Moon's been with The Who since '65, and even before that I'm sure he was nuts. Way before Bonham.

RockAndRoll 08-30-2004 09:03 PM
Well...yeah. I dunno, thats pretty weird. Maybe the mag is just off. It happens.

Moon couldn't even play drums. He didn't keep a set where he lived. Every time they recorded they had to wait a few days for him to re-learn.
Are you being sarcastic saying he couldn't play or something? haveing to relearn something doesn't mean you can't play, hell R.E.M had to buy a book of their songs because they didn't remember how to play them.

RockAndRoll 08-30-2004 09:05 PM
Moon's been with The Who since '65, and even before that I'm sure he was nuts. Way before Bonham.
I'm sure he was. You can tell by the interview with pete about when keith joined the band. (on The Kids are Alright DVD)

RockAndRoll 08-30-2004 09:10 PM
I also watched this Doors video called dance with fire.......interesting. :smoke:
Do you mean dance on fire? I own that one (well it's a 3 VHS set with Dance on fire, Live at the hollywood bowl, and I think the last one's called people are strange I can't remember though)

sproose 08-30-2004 09:12 PM

Purple?

Why don't people ever acknowledge Deep Purple as a great classic rock band? The along with Zepplin and Sabbath started the Heavy rock scene!

please acknowledge them, excluding Smoke on the Water!

Thanks, Sproose!

=P

Broken Arrow 08-30-2004 09:20 PM

Man, We've acknowedgled them alot. Have you seen them live they put on a great show.

I like Deep Purple. Just not that much. Sabbath is good and zeppelin is good. There are plenty of better bands.

Keith Moon is my second favorite drummer. The guy is nuts. He was one of the major reasons why the who were so great (that and brilliant writing and a great singer).

Broken Arrow 08-30-2004 09:58 PM

Interesting fact: My mom born on the same day as Bonham
My dad born on same day as Moon

Sweet Eh?

By drummer logic that makes you Neil Peart! :amaze:

Broken Arrow 08-30-2004 10:05 PM

Yeah. Iam also Canadian like Neil. We have so m,uch in common.

SRSharp2006 08-30-2004 10:53 PM

Beatles, Rolling Stones, Zeppelin, Beach Boys (if they count), The Who, Pink Floyd, Doors, Cream, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Boston, Rush, Steppenwolf, Jethro Tull, Yes, Queen, Van Halen, Clapton (THE BEST EVER), Hendrix...music doesn't get much better than that.

No, I'm not being sarcastic. I'm not calling Moon a bad drummer either. The Who > Me. I'm just making the point that most people learn an instrument, and they either get to a certain point and stop, or keep learning. Moon had to teach himself how to play drums every time they recorded an album. You'd at least think alot of musicians would keep their instruments on hand. If anything, it's a compliment. Imagine teaching yourself to drum like THAT, many times over. Amazing.

David Bowie has to keep a lyric sheet in front of him, he can't remember all his songs anymore.

clown_phobia 08-31-2004 02:05 AM

anyone picked up the new who compilation? (then and now 1964-2004).

someone give me a list of classic metal bands

StreetlightRock 08-31-2004 03:04 AM

I LOVE Deep Purple. I think there v. underrated actually. Ritchie is a guitar genious. It just that alot of their songs arnt so 'catchy'. I love Ians voice as well. I just think it sucks that everyone only knows Deep Purple for Smoke on the Water. Hell, alot dont even know that. *sigh*

DVG.
