Pig Destroyer ftw - those guys are unbelievably tight and extreme without coming off as silly or juvenile.

In terms of grind (and grindcore, ala Napalm Death), you got to give it to bands like Nasum, Assuck, Napalm Death (they were revolutionary), Repulsion and some of the grind influenced Boston bands of the moment, like The Red Chord (Fused Together In Revolving Doors had some frighteningly good grind influence).

As for Pig Destroyer fans, they seem to have it right - I know Prowler in the Yard, Terrifyer, Painter of Dead Girls and Phantom Limb like the back of each of my appendages. So damn good.

I've been binging hardcore on Poser Disposer and Nashgul.
