Yes.

Yes indeed.
|
Run to the Light is probably my second favourite Trouble album. It is often maligned by the fans but I think it's great.
Great, great, great band. Almost great enough to make me a Christian. |
Okay, Ill have to check em out. I love doom metal but it is so hard to find a place that will stock CD's. I went to a privately owned store specializing in metal and I ended up paying $35AUS for Mournful Cries.
|
Recommend me some good doom (any variety) or stoner metal with good production.
Aaaaand GO. |
Good production? Not alot of doom I have heard has good production. Ill give a couple of recommendations though. Pentagram and anything with Wino on it for Doom, Orange Goblin and Kyuss for Stoner. Alternatively just check out http://www.stonerrock.com they have Doom as well.
Yes I was surprised at how solid Forest Of Shadows was, as I've never heard any one mention the name before. The violins are perfect. Not overdramatic and goth, just melancholic and beautiful. And it's nice to hear the flutes and violins not overused, as they are in practically everything else that uses them.
The intro to Eternal Autumn is so beautiful. Where Dreams Turn to Dust is one of my favorite doom releases. |

Bongripper ASAP.
|
I should have been more specific. More obscure doom and stoner. :p
Wall Of Sleep, The Hidden Hand, Orange Goblin, and Bongripper all sound good though. I'll check those out. |
More obsucre? Hmmmm try:
Magna Veritas Orthodox Aseida Reino Ermitaņo Poema Arcanus Burning Witch Most of them are from Latin America, I've been getting into a lot of LA Doom/Stoner lately :) |
Ufomammut
|
Mar de Grises
|
Mar de Grises
Goood good band. Thanks again guys. |
I think some nice, raw Ufomammut will do you good next to that slick Swallow the Sun junk. ;)
|
Ufomammut has some trippy and nice artwork.

I'm not liking it. :smash: |
Where have you even heard it already? Myspace?
|
If you can't find any of the bands I told you before, or some of them ask me...I can send some albums.
|
Mammatus
|
Ufomammut is great, I love the spacey sound of the organs.
Haven't listened to them in a while though. Should do so. October Tide never fails on a rainy monday morning. \m/ |
is spiritual beggars any good?
|
Yes, especially the self titled.
Mammatus is the best stoner rock band in existence though, for the person looking for recommendations. |
give me some recommendations... what sort of "doom" are making the bands you mentioned above?
you know what kind of doom i like... not the traditional doom; i prefer "death doom" and "funeral doom" or just some sunn O))). post your fav. bands out of the genres and which i can find on torrent :p that would be great. |
Here: http://ultranihil.blogspot.com/ :)

Evoken is pretty much the greatest death doom band there is. Ablaze In Hatred is very good too.
There's a ton of great funeral doom bands, I'm not sure if you're well versed in the genre, but in case you're not look for Thergothon and Skepticism. If you are, though, Forgotten Tomb and Forest Of Shadows are the two best I've heard recently. There's another great one whose name eludes me. I know their cover art is something to do with a big ship. Poofy, help me, I think you know who it is. |
Ahab?
Forest of Shadows pwn. Also check out Desire. |
No, it's something else. It's part of a trilogy I know. You can get it for free from somewhere. It's all about ports and the ocean and everything. The cover is really majestic looking.

hey, great homepage... need to bookmark it.

:-\ And it's funeral doom? Then I should know about it.. Maybe Monolithe? who is releasing a trilogy. Or Until Death Overtakes Me? Swallow The Sun has a track called The Ship on their Ghosts Of Loss album, but nothing like that on the cover and not the same lyrical theme. I'm listening to Longing For Dawn now, great Canadian funeral doom, with a lot of amient influences. I love it. |
