I was commenting on your spelling and grammar, to be honest. Else I would have said 'silly idiots' instead.

peeted 11-28-2004 07:29 AM

ok sorry about that, in many casses my spellings bad because of the fact that im dislexic but to tell the truth in that last post it was just cairles typing

Wintermute 11-28-2004 07:30 AM
Not really, but I like Canadians for the most part. Except their sense of humor. Very slapstick like British humor
Actually, I resent that.

Only BAD British comedy relies on slapstick. Admittedly, programs like Bottom or The Young Ones rely on it heavily. That is why they are what we call 'shit'. Classic and FUNNY British comedy doesn't rely on it at all.

For that matter, I have yet to see an American comedy program that was actually funny in any way if it wasn't animated.

Ah, I wasn't getting at you, I'm just in a sarcastic kind of mood.

lots of countrys use slapstic. british comody is traditionaly silly (eg monty python). it has its slapstic moments but its realy just funny because its so silly

There's a big difference between 'silly' and 'slapstick', and Monty Python is by no means the be all and end all of British comedy.

Come to think of it I suppose only the more succesful programs are aired over here, so there may be some classic cult thing that I haven't heard of. I was going off the likes of Friends, Will And Grace, Frasier, Scrubs, Cheers, that sort of thing.

Some of them make for easy watching, and I do watch given the chance (Will and Grace excluded) but they aren't actually funny.

fatbandit 11-28-2004 07:48 AM

I wouldn't say Frasier isn't funny. I think its good, because its not obvious humour. Just think though, what we get in England of the American comedy is probably like the best 2 percent of their shows. I feel sorry for the people that have to watch the rest...

Don't get me wrong, I can see what is intended to be funny about Frasier, it just doesn't seem funny compared to programs like 'Yes, Minister' which do the same thing infinitely better, and a couple of decades earlier.

peeted 11-28-2004 07:51 AM

fraiser isnt funny, freinds and scrubs are though

Wintermute 11-28-2004 07:52 AM

It is a matter of opinion, that's true.

I do watch Friends and Scrubs quite often. They're easily watcheable. Can't remember the last time I laughed at either of them though.

peeted 11-28-2004 07:55 AM

yea i have a habit of stating my opinions in a mater of fact way

fatbandit 11-28-2004 08:07 AM

Ah, now Scrubs is amusing. Not side splittingly funny though. The last really funny program I watched was Little Britain. That and Shooting Stars.

nisakss 11-28-2004 08:22 AM

I like Scrubs, it has a naive feeling about it that makes so much watchable than all the rest of the stuff, full of dumb problems blown out of proportions (Oc, Summerland, Gilmore Girls, etc...).

The only other show I like to watch, that off course is a blown out of proportion series, is Niptuck. I think it's funny.

Wintermute 11-28-2004 08:26 AM

The compulsory moral education 'I've learned something today' at the end of Scrubs annoys the hell out of me, but it's worth it just for Dr. Cox.

Wintermute 11-28-2004 08:38 AM

:surprise:

I'm just watching an old film called 'The Absent Minded Professor'...

I had no idea that Flubber was nothing more than a remake. This is identical, but older, and the goo is purple. Also I have yet to see it express personality, it is even called Flubber.

Plus the robot is an old woman instead.

nisakss 11-28-2004 08:49 AM

Any movie made with Robin Williams in it sucks, except Good Morning Vietnam.

Bassinator89 11-28-2004 09:01 AM

I'm eating venison jerky, god this stuff is awesome.

peeted 11-28-2004 09:07 AM

ah yes the sappy lerning thing thing about ameican comody realy does suck. i much prefer laughing at criples than lerning things

peeted 11-28-2004 09:07 AM

and what the hell is a jerky?

reidster90 11-28-2004 09:48 AM

If any of you were on last night.... MY PARENTS WON'T LET ME GET THE AMP! Man, this sucks the hairiest wang ever.

Wintermute 11-28-2004 10:15 AM

I used to get a lot of Frodo, along with 'ooh, some guy I know, I'm sure you remind me of someone... now who was it....'

Not much of either any more though.

Wintermute 11-28-2004 10:15 AM
If any of you were on last night.... MY PARENTS WON'T LET ME GET THE AMP! Man, this sucks the hairiest wang ever.
PaulSimonon 11-28-2004 10:15 AM

And to top it off, I just threw up. ****.

PaulSimonon 11-28-2004 10:16 AM

They say my current amp is good enough for anything.

Wintermute 11-28-2004 10:17 AM

Do they know what their talking about? What is your current amp?

I have to say if my dad said that to me the answers would be along the line of 'Yes, but:
A)You don't know what you're talking about
B)My money'

PaulSimonon 11-28-2004 10:20 AM

The have no idea what they are talking about
