It's not so much about modding. Modding is easy. Just don't do stupid ****, and you're fine, no one will lynch you. Any regular here besides maybe Rissa (she's a women) would be a fine mod.

It's about who deserves it more. Kif/Vince have devoted how many hours...days...weeks with of time to this site? Contributed how much? They deserve a reward. Respect, power, etc, brought about by modship.
