Woodstock 06-16-2005 04:13 PM

I don't see what's so great about Bruce Springsteen.

Silent Death 06-16-2005 04:15 PM
I don't see what's so great about Bruce Springsteen.
I don't either. I like some of his stuff but IMO it's all average sounding.

robo2448 06-16-2005 04:15 PM

What have you heard? I can post some of my personal favorites by him if you want to see if I can change you're opinion.

Glitterati 06-16-2005 04:16 PM
God i love Pink Floyd, i really don't see how people can find them boring to listen to, the Harmony in songs like Wish are entertaining in its on way.
You know, when I started listening to Pink Floyd, it sounded really cold and un-emotional. Then I started listening to DSOTM more, then got The Wall and WYWH, and realized that they were one of the rawest emotional bands ever, lyric-wise. To quote UrbanDictionary:
Their music commented on the social injustices of modern society and the atrocities of war in a way that no other band has done before or since
The Wall scares me. I cried when I first listened to it all the way through :upset:

np: Rush - 2112 Overture

Are you talking to Woodstock or me?

BludgeonySteve 06-16-2005 04:19 PM

what's there to cry about? It's just a little creepy at parts.

robo2448 06-16-2005 04:19 PM

Listening to The Wall in a dark room really late at night is one of the ****ing scariest experiences of my life.
Listening to The Wall in a dark room really late at night is one of the ****ing scariest experiences of my life.
Yeah I did that once. It was creepy as hell

robo2448 06-16-2005 04:21 PM
Are you talking to Woodstock or me?
Well I was talking to Woodstock because I didn't see some posts, but I'll post some songs for you if you want some to get into him.

And maybe I exaggerated on The Wall's scariness, but it was pretty creepy.
I actually think his more acoustic sound is better than his massive arena rock moments. I mean...Born In The USA and Born To Run are both very good albums in their own right, but Nebraska and The River own them as far as I'm concerned. That's probably one of the things I like about him...the way that he can make albums that sound very different to one another, but which are unmistakeably him. And there's the fact that he's massively charismatic to the point where most other live artists just look faintly ridiculous in comparison to him. He has made some very disappointing stuff though, although it's kind of telling that after 9/11 he had a resurgence. It's cliched, but I honestly think that he's just that kind of artist.
123. His acoustic songs pwn arena rock. Some of the piano based songs are good too, my favorite of those being Racing in the Streets off Darkness on the Edge of Town. Anyone else notice that automobiles seem to be a recurring symbol in the Bosses songs. Also, if you like his acoustic side, Devils and Dust is a fantastic CD. Really great acoustic. His voice sounds different on this album, but once you get used to it, it's great.
What do you guys think of Robin Trower?
Well? :)

Illmatic 06-16-2005 04:38 PM

For Bruce, I like the songs "The River" and "Born to Run" but haven't liked much beyond that.

Haven't heard Robin Trower but I recognize the name.

ATM 06-16-2005 04:39 PM

I should upload some. He is an AMAZING guitar player.

robo2448 06-16-2005 04:40 PM

Never heard him. I've got a lot of uploading to do to introduce these people to the Boss.

Woodstock 06-16-2005 04:44 PM

I kept hearing the name Robin Trower tossed around.

White_heat 06-16-2005 04:45 PM
I should upload some. He is an AMAZING guitar player.
What style of music is he?

Woodstock 06-16-2005 04:45 PM

I think he's folk rock.

robo2448 06-16-2005 04:51 PM

That sounds cool. Folk-rock pwns.
/doesn't listen to any folk-rock besides Dylan and Dead if you count them.

White_heat 06-16-2005 05:16 PM

What do you guys think of The Moody Blues?

thickasabrick 06-16-2005 05:25 PM
What do you guys think of The Moody Blues?
They are a good band. I'm not very familiar with a lot of their work though, I've only heard a handful of songs.

Glitterati 06-16-2005 05:25 PM
what's there to cry about? It's just a little creepy at parts.
It's depressing as hell. Not all-out bawling, but it really depresses me.

Silent Death 06-16-2005 05:35 PM

Thats what I thought but I didn't wan't to ignore you if you were talking to me. And yeah The Wall was creepy

Well if you or Woodstock want any Springsteen just ask.

Silent Death 06-16-2005 05:39 PM
Well if you or Woodstock want any Springsteen just ask.
Thanks but I have heard alot of his stuff. It's not bad, but for me it gets boring quick.

robo2448 06-16-2005 05:51 PM

Some of it even bores me, particularly The Rising and Born in the USA. I like most of the rest though.

Glitterati 06-16-2005 06:08 PM

Anyone listen to Joni Mitchell?

PinkFreud 06-16-2005 06:19 PM
Well? :)
i used to plug him but then i realized that no one listens to me.

he was the guitarist for procol harum if that helps any of you. hes blues-rock, not folk rock, and he often gets written off as a hendrix clone.

his album bridge of sighs is excellent.

if you can illmatic, post too rolling stoned and bridge of sighs.

I'll upload a few songs tomorow.

Against Miik! 06-16-2005 06:58 PM

I downloaded "Day of the Eagle" by Robin Trower. It was pretty rockin, but his voice was pretty generic. Good though
