I agree, only because I've played it since I was five. I don't watch it.

Puma 10-05-2005 06:56 PM

Presuming you mean soccer, I also played it for a good part of my life. But I can't sit and watch it. Unless I'm playing it just seems to go very slow to me.

Mute Print 10-05-2005 06:58 PM

I played it for about a year. I like'd it but didn't really continue on with it.

I don't like watching it much.

That's what I meant, I'm sure James did too.

Watching is a lot better when you're actually at the game, and preferably when it's at a big stadium and you know one of the teams. Then you really feel how much power over your emotions the game can have.

Sadly, since I left Sunderland I haven't been to any such games. :upset:

I'm glad to hear we have some North Americans who play footie as well though. All the Americans I've met only play baseball.

I've never seen a game in person. I'll watch some of the Chicago Fire games when my brother puts them on, but I usually lose interest. I'll have to go sometime.

I've watched a fair few MLS games because they get shown late-night here sometimes, but I never get the impression that there's much of an atmosphere at games. If geography wasn't an issue, you'd want to go to a big local derby game in Europe. Those things redefine volume and passion - it's bordering on scary sometimes. I've been to 2 in my time and both left my ears feeling like when you stand next to a speaker at a gig.

B 10-05-2005 07:04 PM

One of my friends has also played Soccer for most of his life. But my other friend is a baseball guy. Us Canadians are diverse.

Mute Print 10-05-2005 07:04 PM

I used to have season tickets to the indoor soccer team that played around here. It was so fun.

They were called the Buffalo Blizzard.

Yeah, those Europeans really get into it. I'd love to be in the middle of a soccer riot. That'd be sweet:cool:

Ah, it's superb. At English games they have far too big a police presence these days because our game has such a reputation for violence, but whenever Newcastle come to Sunderland their buses always get pelted, and a lot of abuse gets hurled. It's pretty funny, probably for both sides.

I love the footage you see of drunken England fans in Burberry caps throwing tables around in the streets of some European capital after some away loss. Pure hilarity, especially when the police break out the water cannons.

Oh man, that'd be so awesome. I wish people did that around here. The worst abuse I've ever seen at a sporting even was a few boston fans getting beers dumped on them at a Cardinals game I went to earlier this year. And even then the kids who did it got busted almost immediatly and escorted out. I laughed. But I guess I'm lucky it wasn't me. I had a Boston hat on and was only two rows behind them, but not being nearly as rude/loud as them. Funny nonetheless.

B 10-05-2005 07:15 PM

Is it like in the movie Euro trip where the skinheads are insane and smash beer bottles over their heads? I wish I could do that.

Puma 10-05-2005 07:38 PM

I saw their video for "Heard That Sound" on Fuse about a week ago. I like that song.

Are you stoned or drunk or something like 80% of the time you're on here? I seem to see you here whenever you are, but rarely when you aren't.

Well, when I come on during the day, I'm (mostly) sober. But that's probably a bit early in the day for you, depending on what timezone you're in. But yes, evenings are generally not for spending sober as far as I'm concerned.

What am I talking about again?

So everyone tomorrow in my grade at my school is going on a trip. Well, all the people that have science this semester. So like 80% of them. This leaves me with a very boring day, but no, I'm too smart for that. I'm going to call my school in the morning and act like my step father and say I'm sick. I have a deep voice so I can pass off easily. Do you think this will work?

Haha, you're a cheeky one. I'd never have dared try anything like that when I was a lad.

I don't know if it will work, as I've never tried anything like that, but it sounds like a good idea. School trips are always gay.

DepthsOfDreams555 10-05-2005 08:29 PM

My friend has a deep voice and he always jokes that he has the same name as his dad so he can do stuff like that.....if your voice is as deep as his...no problem.

hey, you're not cory! 10-05-2005 08:30 PM

Yeah, they probably won't believe it though. But I doubt they care.

Ya I agree I really don't know how much they are going to care or pay attention to how your voice sounds.

EDIT: On second thought just explain the situation to your step dad that they are going on this trip and you wont be doing anything and have him call in.

My parents won't do that for me, hence my little crappy scheme.

Mute Print 10-05-2005 08:35 PM

My mom will call me in sick if there is a trip or something that I don't want to go to. I "skipped" like ten days in the middle school that way.

I also skipped two days last year that way, because my class was going camping, and I hate camping.

billiejoe84 10-05-2005 08:36 PM

I am now listening to new Allister. My god, it's rather OK.

Mute Print 10-05-2005 08:36 PM

I should listen to that now.

I wish my mom would do that.

Anyways, I'm out for the night. If I'm not on for a long time I probably got caught :p.
