I need to buy a Petty greatest hits, all I've heard are a couple of his most famous songs and his work with The Wilburies.

What's your beef with Petty, Schyma?

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 06-14-2005 03:34 PM

Nothing he's just not that good I haven't heard anything that is that impressive. I have about 4 of his albums and none of them really strike me as something outstanding or amazing. I just don't see what's so great about him.

thickasabrick 06-14-2005 03:46 PM

I like a lot of Tom Pettys songs, but I wouldn't really call him like super amazing anything. He's like Americas (extremely) watered-down version of Neil Young.

So I watched The Grateful Dead Movie last night. It was soo awesome. I would die to see a Grateful Dead concert back in the day. I also watched that Paul McCartney in Red Square concert, which was also very cool.

There's one awesome Tom Petty album but I forget what it was called.

BludgeonySteve 06-14-2005 04:08 PM

There are a few really awesome Tom Petty albums

Yeah, I did. He had an annoying voice but he sounded pretty cliche resiliesnt rock star.

He's got a bunch of great albums (my uncle let me borrow most of his discography once).

Yes, and also about "Like a Rolling Stone" being the number one song on Rolling Stone's list, i guess its a re-run

Agreed + Into the Great Wide Open and The Last DJ

TheDMV 06-14-2005 06:10 PM

I've heard Free FAllin, and I assume some other stuff, but I just don't think I would like Tom Petty. Something about his style, perhaps his voice wards me away from his music. Perhaps it's he repetetiveness of his hits. I should probably give him a better chance, since he was good enough to get into the Traveling Wilburries.

Most say the Last DJ is his worst, and his only bad album.

Check out this version from their Box Set, it was recorded in 1979 (yes it's got Kenney Jones, give him a break). But listen to Entwistle's bass playing at the end.

I'm seeing him next week :D

I just got a Tetanus(sp) shot. Does anyone know how long it takes before the sore arm wears off?

lunch998 06-14-2005 07:25 PM

At least three years.

Oh Shit

I was thinking about this earlier today: which came first, the drugs or the music?

robo2448 06-14-2005 07:40 PM

Dylan was on 60 minutes sometime in January, I guess it's a re-run.
