I actually never got into Spirit. I need to check some of their stuff out. The only time I heard them was the song that Jimmy Page took Stairway off of :P

MBS 10-03-2005 06:36 PM
I could rip it, and send it to you. Give me a while. TBH, I've never even listened to it. I took it from a kid I know, and never listened to it :)
Thanks man, it's greatly appreciated. :)

JonG 10-03-2005 06:44 PM

Yep. Anytime.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 10-03-2005 06:52 PM

Wow, I have had a great last 24 hours. :)

I went to the Santana show last night with 2 openers. The first was Salvador Santana's Band (Carlos Santana's son) he played R&B with a rap twist which was just horrible and then Robert Randolph came up. I have to say I wasn't disappointed with him at all. All of his songs had a great balance of Jazz, Soul, Funk and Blues not to mention that crazy skill on the steel guitar. It was kinda wired though, in the middle of the last song the bassist, drummer and Robert started switching instruments like the bassist would go up to the drum set and start playing play a solo and then switch back to there original instruments. I thought the was odd wounder why they did it. For the encorre they played "Voodoo Chile (Silent Return)" which was simply FANTASTIC and ended up being the highlight of his set. When Santana took the stage he open with his old classic "Oye Combo Va". Great opener but all he played from there was a lot his new poppy material that was rather boring then they took a break, got back on stage and everyone started freaking out on their instruments then the bassist and the drummer took a long solo each by their selves. After the solos Santana came back on stage with Robert Randolph and played two songs. (One of which was a cover of "Boom Boom" by John Lee Hooker :D ) When Robert left he finished out the show by playing four of his old classics. ("Black Magic Woman", "Evil Ways"...etc) Great show. Worth 25 dollars for sure. :D

I got my CD case back along with Forever Changes by Love that I got taken from me when Summer began this year. Needless to say I've missed it very much and I'm extremly pleased to hear this Psychedelic masterpeice once again. :D

I got a (skimpy  ) once of weed. I am a very happy person right now. :smoke:

I have a suggestion. I think it would be really good if the classic rock forum were partitioned into seperate sections by band and by other categories such as classic rock technique. It is really hard to read through this topic with so many posts.

PinkFreud 10-03-2005 07:14 PM

you dont need to read through the whole thing though. just jump into the conversation. most days its real slow too. not a big deal.

Lunch 10-03-2005 07:14 PM

You don't have to read through all of it, we usually repeat topics again anyway.Just read a couple pages to get the flow of discussion.

PinkFreud 10-03-2005 07:15 PM

beaten!

Glitterati 10-03-2005 07:15 PM
I have a suggestion. I think it would be really good if the classic rock forum
Stop right there.

This is a thread, not a forum.

JonG 10-03-2005 07:15 PM

Eh, I think that would be a terrible idea. Too much jumpin' around. I like it as it is. Keep up with it and it isn't that hard.

Woot, 5 posts in less than a minute.

Beaten x5

Touche. I'll be back next time

JonG 10-03-2005 07:18 PM

Sent out The Division Bell.

Walrus Gumboot 10-03-2005 07:21 PM

There have been different topic threads that just die. There's just enough CR conversation and spam to keep this one afloat

Glitterati 10-03-2005 07:23 PM

So....The Stooges are pretty sweet.

np: The Stooges - Search & Destroy

PinkFreud 10-03-2005 07:26 PM

thanks for the division bell jong.

the stooges are pretty sweet indeed. have you heard the red hot chili peppers' cover of that song? its quite good. very faithful. almost to the point where its identical. haha.

Badmoon 10-03-2005 07:28 PM

I prefer Iggy Pop's solo stuff.

I've always been the Stooges infidel around here :(

jpj 10-03-2005 07:30 PM

I never really thought much of The Stooges.

JonG 10-03-2005 07:31 PM
I never really thought much of The Stooges.
Neither have I. The look of Iggy Pop annoys me.

PinkFreud 10-03-2005 07:32 PM

to be honest, i think i prefer the lust for life album more than anything the stooges put out, but as a whole, i like the stooges more.

Glitterati 10-03-2005 07:33 PM

Ha, I've never heard the Chili's version. I assume it's good, because it's the Chilis.
Neither have I. The look of Iggy Pop annoys me.
Iggy is kinda creepy :(

robo2448 10-03-2005 07:47 PM

Bob Dylan is amazing. As I said, I bought the DVD the other day, and I finally got the chance to watch all the special features. The full performance of Like A Rolling Stone alone makes it worth the buy. Awesome special features. Maggie's Farm at Newport is just :D

Whatever happened to Mike Bloomfield anyways? He was a good guitarist.

robo2448 10-03-2005 07:53 PM
That Eric Claptons Rainbow Concert is amazing.
I listened to it again today at school. A few of the middle tracks are a little weaker, but then the end with Key to the Highway > Let it Rain > Crossroads is just amazing. All those songs have amazing guitarwork. And Reebop is so cool. Especially on Let it Rain.

I need that. I need Bob Dylan DVDs, Period. The only live performance i've ever seen of him was on The Last Waltz :upset: :loser:

I need The Last Waltz. Everyone here always talks about how good it is. That's next on my wishlist for music DVD's. The Bob Dylan DVD is awesome though. Awesome documentary and the extra full performances are awesome. They're only 7 full performances, but they're great.

magicbus 10-03-2005 08:16 PM

It's very cool, and one of my favorite music dvd's. I liked it so much the first time I watched it, I watched it 7 more times or something, like once a day. And it gets better, as it was directed by Scorcese.

Krabsworth 10-03-2005 08:27 PM
I haven't smoked since February, and I just started drinking in the past few months.

I really like Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs. My dad has this album, and I don't know why I've never listened to the rest of it. All of the songs are cool, and Clapton really tears it up. (So does Allman).
I thought that was album was boring.

PinkFreud 10-03-2005 08:33 PM

its boring if you dislike the blues and excellent guitar playing!

just kidding, i suppose its not for everyone. theres not really another "poppy" song like layla.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 10-03-2005 08:37 PM
I thought that was album was boring.
 How dare you say that about one of God's greatest albums!

.....I agree. VERY boring album.

Nice avatar/user title BTW. I would say the same to EMH's Harvest Moon avatar but I know it'll just be gone in another hour or two.

BludgeonySteve 10-03-2005 09:52 PM

I don't get it when people say that Clapton was best with Derek and The Dominoes. It was jsut one album and it had one great song and the rest was good but cmon: CREAM!

BludgeonySteve 10-03-2005 09:54 PM

Also: Yay for the harvest Moon avatar. That's definitly in my top 5 favorite Neil Young albums

BludgeonySteve 10-03-2005 10:20 PM

Who? Cream or Derek and the Dominoes?

(the best guitar playing i've heard clapton do was the Crossroads Festival DVD)

The Last Waltz is pretty awesome. For some reason, they always show it on the aboriginal people's network

Yay :) The title track is such a good song.

PinkFreud 10-03-2005 10:24 PM

derek and the dominos.

his current playing is excellent in a technical sense but i feel that it lacks the fire and passion that his older stuff has.
