I'm listening to them because I downloaded Gallery of Suicide and liked it, so I got many other albums.

Gallery is the best idk )=
To each their own...speaking of which, anybody else here think Old Man's Child should just replace Dimmu?

TojesDolan 08-14-2007 04:05 PM

Both bands suck to be honest.

TojesDolan 08-14-2007 04:27 PM

tbh i haven't heard very many of their songs, but i kind of liked what I heard. Not the best, but definitely not the worst.

IDoE is better than any Dimmu Ive heard...but its whatever, its you're own opinions

Txus 08-14-2007 11:28 PM

Don't discuss that **** in here.

Jondur 08-15-2007 04:48 AM

Are we really discussing Devildriver, Old Man's Child and Dimmu Borgir in here? Where's Dargon when you need him?

I was going to post this for amusement but having read the last few pages you guys will probably like it! http://youtube.com/watch?v=zSdxwTOJJfw

Remember when melodic death metal was actually death metal with melody as opposed to power metal with harsh vox? Well those times have gone.

Sorry Jondur, I've been so disgusted by the dancebeat-crazed kiddies in here that I haven't been able to bring myself to post.

Anyways; well said. Old school melodic death metal was just that; death ****ing metal first and foremost, and melody added in accordance. Nowadays this "melodic death metal" **** is just a bunch of anorexic 14 year olds wearing girl pants and playing Backstreet Boys covers with harsh vocals.

Markh: I saw that video last year, I almost shat my pants.

EDIT: Oh and Jondur, ever going to reply to my e-mail?

Shattered_Future 08-15-2007 12:45 PM

Calling Imperanon melodic death metal is an offense punishable by death.

Poofy 666 08-15-2007 01:15 PM

meh, most (98%) of all melo death is boring. The only bands that seem to have retained my interest are Garden of Shadows, Clad in Darkness, and Be'Lakor.

robin2220 08-15-2007 01:27 PM

Morbid Angel are easily my favorite death metal band, though a lot of their newer albums were mediocre at best.

TojesDolan 08-15-2007 01:35 PM

I kinda like Formulas Fatal To The Flesh.

I'm listening to Gojira at the moment. It feels mildly good at moments but it's weirdly bad in others.

i think its necessary to discuss their lack of talent

i like at the gates and i guess they are melo-death but i just call it death metal

when it comes to "melodic death metal" i would have to say Heartwork is at least one of the top ten albums of the genre.

masscows 08-15-2007 02:20 PM

Gojira is a poor man's Mastodon.

Not that Mastodon is a rich man's anything.

Tyler 08-15-2007 02:21 PM

At The Gates isn't very good. I hear their first album is solid but Slaughter of the Soul is garbage with maybe 4 enjoyable songs.

rattlehead42147 08-15-2007 02:23 PM

really? im a fan of that album although i have heard a lot of good things about the debut album as well.

TojesDolan 08-15-2007 02:23 PM

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. I like Mastodon slightly more thanI liked Gojira.

masscows 08-15-2007 02:28 PM

tbh i find some of mastodon's stuff enjoyable but most of it is dead cheesy and forgettable.

masterchaos 08-15-2007 02:31 PM
tbh i find some of mastodon's stuff enjoyable but most of it is dead cheesy and forgettable.
Leviathan is the only decent album.

wait a second...werent people bitching because Old Mans Child and Devildriver were brought up and now Mastodon and Gorjia are being talked about?

masscows 08-15-2007 02:34 PM

yeah this is definitely going to piss dargon off to no end.

keep going.

robin2220 08-15-2007 02:37 PM

I can't stand Slaughter Of The Soul at all. I don't understand the love At The Gates gets.

Eliminator 08-15-2007 02:40 PM

stop talking about shitty music

TojesDolan 08-15-2007 02:46 PM

Talk about good music, then.

Probalby because they're responsible for gothenburg?

Eliminator 08-15-2007 03:27 PM

yeah they were actually the only band to come from that area

jrowa001 08-15-2007 03:29 PM

anybody like Amoral?

masscows 08-15-2007 06:03 PM
Probalby because they're responsible for gothenburg?
and american melodic metalcore

although thats kind of a reason to hate them

Stoic 08-15-2007 06:25 PM

I doubt they knew the impact of their music back then :p

Riva 08-15-2007 06:47 PM

I don't think many people actually realise that Gothenburg is actually a place as well as a sub-genre. Well, I know Orestes does.

Shadows 08-15-2007 06:47 PM

I knew. It's kind of hard not to when most of the bands considered "Gothenburg" are from Gothenburg, Sweden.

masterchaos 08-15-2007 07:05 PM
I don't think many people actually realise that Gothenburg is actually a place as well as a sub-genre. Well, I know Orestes does.
Its not that hard of a concept.

Although, I didnt that bands like In Flames, Soilwork, Dark Tranquility, and Arch Enemy(the main bands talked about when Gothenburg is brought up) were even really from there.

RetiredAt21 08-15-2007 07:08 PM

I hate Mastodon.

masterchaos 08-15-2007 07:20 PM
I hate Mastodon.
Well good thing we aren't talking about them huh?

RetiredAt21 08-15-2007 07:22 PM

Well, people were earlier. Just thought I'd throw in my two cents.

Squirrel 08-15-2007 07:24 PM

Slaughter of the Soul is so bleh with me, suicide nation is ok, in fact ill say its good.

Theres a few riffs here and there that are good but otherwise its just plain crap.

You know youve written a bad album when the best track is a cover that is only released on later versions.
